The atmosphere was warm and inviting due to the small size of the restaurant and the locals, which gave it a family feel even for us tourists from the US. We were greeted warmly and the staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. I ordered the gnocchi, and it was incredible -- soft, pillowy, with a great read sauce that was bursting with flavor. My husband went for the cacio e pepe, which was perfectly creamy and packed with just the right amount of peppery kick - my husband sampled this same dish at several restaurants, and this was in his top two during our stays in visits to Venice, Florence, and Rome. Both dishes were simple but felt like something really special cooked at home by someone's mother or grandmother. We decided to share a carafe of the house red wine, and it was such a great choice. It went beautifully with our meals and added to the overall experience without breaking the bank. La Capannina has a classic Italian charm that makes you want to linger over your meal and just soak it all in - due to the size of the place we decided not to do this although it is common in Italy for you not to feel rushed and have to ask for the bill. The amuse bouche given from the chef was definitely nice touch and was an essence of meat sauce flavor. For the start we took selection of Tuscan meats which was deep in flavor, well cured and different textures of meat. Il Vezzo as many Florence restaurants offer famous Steak a la Florentina which was undoubtedly one of the best steaks we have ever had. It has its distinctive flavor thanks to the cows being pastured in that specific area. One steak should serve two people as a main dish of the dinner. We laso tried their artichoke witch chickpeas an potato terrine which was fantastic. I liked the way of serving which was a traditional dish constructed in the modern way. Make sure, since place is not big, to make a reservation ahead and the place is quite popular. Definitely a must visit again :)

The two gentlemen working were very nice but they were clearly busy because they could hardly check in on us. We went there for our last night in Firenze (three nights later), and once again it was excellent. Our server remembered us, which I wouldn't expect anyone at a busy restaurant to do.
