Decided to order a large crispy lager and their pepperoni pizza which both were outstanding! Service was great and I arrived first & chose an outdoor picnic table in their patio. Came in on a week night with a growler in hand. Stayed for a pizza and a beer. We shared the carnivora which obviouslsy had lots of meat for us carnivores and it was delicious! There was only 1 other table in a quite spacious space with 2 others, and the tables were quite spread out. We felt safe! The beer choices seem to have expanded compared to some of the older reviews and I found their menu to be quite impressive - both beers and pizza. Pizzas were all under $20 and bigger than the R&B pizzas. For some reason I think their beers may have been a bit on the pricier side. We've seen Luppolo at the Farmer's Markets and think it's great that they are getting their name out there. We ended up not getting a growler as the fill was also a bit steep in terms of price and weren't sure which one to commit to, so we got a 4 pack tall can mixer. We had some time to kill before a concert later in the evening so decided drop into Luppolo Brewery. It's located a few doors down from La Casa Gelato. We dropped in on a Thursday (around 5:00pm) for a quick drink. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating and even has a tiny area for standup. Chill music; they were playing one of Carly Rae Japsen's albums. Food menu is small and split into snacks & platters, piadine and late night eats. For beers, there was half a dozen options on tap. - Flight ($7.50 for 4) - we opted for the new world sour (#4), gose with black lime (#7), wild saison with pear (#9) and oatmeal stout (#6). The new world sour was my favourite of the four. Wild saison was decent but the pear is very subtle. - Taralli ($2.00) - Italian pretzels with fennel seeds. This isn't what we expected when we read pretzels but they were better than they looked. Good texture. Enjoyed the chill, laid back vibes at Luppolo. read more

Yum. This place is great. The raspberry beer we saw another couple looked so good we ordered it as well. It was so delicious. I wish we had stayed here longer because the patio is nice (with shaded areas) and the variety of beers looked pretty good. We ordered pizza as well which was good. Our waitress was super nice and fantastic. I definitely want to go back and try some other beers and purchase some to take home! read more

Italian themed brewery near what is Little Italy. Parking is available in front, as well as in a lot next to the building. This lot is really tricky though. It can only be entered from the street behind (Union), but the lot does NOT allow cars through to the front street (Venables). Anyone parking here has to back out the entire length of the lot afterwards. Something to keep in mind. The interior is a bit plain with the tiles, but it is trendy. Nice atmosphere for having a good chat. My favourite area to sit is tucked away in the back, with a view of the production area. Flights are served in triangular shaped boards. Beer selection is quite decent. There are 8 beers to choose from. I've tried them all and they're good. Definitely will be back at some point. Recommended. read more

After having dinner on Commercial, my friends and I were down to find a place near by to enjoy some local beer. Unfortunately the bars on commercial were all booked up and no one was able to seat us, so we turned to Yelp for help! Luppolo was only a 3 minute drive away from commercial. We called in advance to see what the seating was like, and the staff said that they had plenty of tables available to seat our group of 7. Success! I'm so glad we found this place. It was exactly what we were looking for: not too crazy packed or loud. It had a calm, pleasant vibe, and we were happy to see that they had tables to accommodate bigger groups. They have a small selection of beers, ciders, and even non-alcoholic beverages as well (lemonade, espresso drinks, etc). I loved how their flights came in these cuuuute round glasses served on a wooden block that made it easy to carry. My brother ordered a nutella crepe, perfect for his sweet tooth. Would definitely come here again for another after-dinner chill sesh! read more

Always on the hunt for new BC breweries, I checked out Luppolo on a recent Saturday trip across the border and ordered a glass of their brown ale. The ale was pretty good, though not as malty as I would have liked - it had a bit of a bitterness to it but this didn't stop me from finishing it. Maybe it was just the day we were there, but the atmosphere in this place was not very warm or friendly. The server seemed a bit off her game, and the place was spooky quiet. Maybe next time I'll give them a try in the evening - I suppose if it was full of people it would have given off a different vibe. read more

Walked through the front door and were greeted in a friendly manner by the servers at the front. That's where the good service ended, in fact that's where the service ended in general. We asked for outdoor seating, they gave us a menu and said we could seat ourselves. We sat ourselves outside and waited, and waited some more, and even more. Nobody came to us for at least 10 minutes, not even to say "hi". The only thing we were greeted by was the smell of raw sewage cooking in the sun right next to us which made us completely lose our appetites. Maybe it was a money saving tactic for guests because it saved us spending $20 on a one person pizza. Next to the ridiculous prices of course. Who has the audacity to charge $20 for a pizza while making your customers smell raw sewage on a 26° day. Anyways we had enough and walked out. Would not recommend going. read more

I can't comment on too much as I didn't try any food/snacks here, nor did I get a proper flight. However, I did try the plum sour and got a can of the saison with pear to go. Both tasted good. The sour was quite sour, so you gotta be into the sour if you get it. I thought it was a bit pricey for a 500 ml can -$5.75. The flights look like a decent price, so perhaps trying the beer in house is better. The sitting area/tasting lounge looked quite nice. There's a lot of space and is well lit. I look forward to returning and trying a bit more of what this local brewery has to offer. read more

I love this unpretentious brewery! The sour beer with pineapple and guava is a must! When it comes to breweries, there are so many more known names in the brewery neighbourhood,I'm pleasantly surprised at the sour beer I had. Now that the spring/summer is coming, I believe there are more reasons to have beers. Please have a patio for the summer! read more

This is my fave local brewery. Good olive mix to go with great beer. Not over done. Just chill. It's my go to especially if I'm rollin solo. The beers are top notch. My go to is the Saison. This place is a gem. I've had beers here a few times, but heard they were starting pizzas last summer when I bought their beer at the farmers market. I had a feeling they'd be good. And I was right! We went there in February for and beer & pizza and were not disappointed. So much so I ordered a couple pizza to go a month later and were equally impressed. What can I say I tried to like the place. A new brew pub trying very hard to be Italian. Mediocre beer paired with the worst "pretzel" appy I've ever tasted. 6/10 would recommend. Good beer, good atmosphere, good staff and it's a great neighbourhood hang for people in Strathcona, but the food we had will prevent me from going back. A $15 appetizer platter which consisted of: a few chunks of marinated artichoke hearts, a bit of pickled eggplant, some weird random chunks of parmesan cheese and some bread. Visually not attractive and taste-wise so mediocre. The olives were the only good thing. I hear the food can be good - maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen. read more

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Yelp on February 15, 2017 and book marked this for future reference. We arrived at 1 pm on a Saturday so it was still quiet, however, things picked up around the 2 pm mark. Lots of space inside and the staff was super friendly. The guy I was with had a flight tester and I had a small salad since I don't drink. He was pleased with his random selection and the salad was nicely platted and good selection. read more

Excellent selections of well made craft beer. I loved the Belgian dubbel, the Red and the porter (but they were all good). The "pretzels" were not like regular German pretzels (big and doughy). They can be best described as small, herbed crackers - almost akin to murku (I know I'm spelling this wrong, but I'm trying to describe the fried/baked Indian styled snack made with chickpea flour and seasoned with coriander and other spices). Anyway - the Italian version of that Indian snack. Regardless - they were tasty tidbits to enjoy with the beer. Worth a repeat visit. read more

I really enjoyed the sour beers at this spot. It's spacious and great for groups and never too busy. Also, the prosciutto platter is a freaking steal at 10 bucks for a ton of food! Don't get the pretzels. It's not what you think and super dry. Reminded me of dog treats unfortunately :( read more

After my first experience with Luppolo, I have been back quite a few times, and I must say, they really have improved their beer game. They now have some of the most consistently decent beers out of the newer breweries, so I think it's time to update my review. Worst beer ever. Met up here with 4 friends to try it out. We ordered flights. Tried every beer, except the stout, and tried the cider. My guess is that the owners wanted to open a brewery as a concept or to try to make money? There is no way that anyone involved here cares about brewing, or they would not serve what we drank tonight. The cider tasted like alka seltzer that maybe had met a pineapple decades ago. With so many breweries to choose from in Vancouver we won't return here. We did not try any food. I hope the food is delicious. read more

This is a lovely new addition to the craft beer scene in East Van. I am a huge fan of their New World Sour and also like the Mild and Roggenbier. We had the bresaola salad which was fresh and delicious and I was pleasantly surprised to see the portion sizes of all of the meat and cheese platters. Two of the owners are Italian and know how to welcome you warmly and have added some sweet European touches to their tasting room. read more

This is a great brewery. The tasting room layout and design beats most every brewery in the lower mainland. The beers are all delicious, I loved the dunkelweizen, and would recommended it to anyone. The hoppy beers seem to be their specialty, but there are hidden gems amongst the more malty options. read more
