I did feel judged for wearing a mask which wasn't cool, but whatever. Comments on my brows during my consultation also were a bit critical which seemed unnecessary. It was kind of everything else that made the whole experience a disaster. As I left my initial powder brows appointment, I scheduled a touch-up (included in service as long as it's within 8 weeks). When I arrived weeks later for my appointment, no one was there. As a matter of full disclosure, I was five minutes late. Yet I was surprised, because I've never been to a place where an employee would walk out the door if a client wasn't there exactly on time. I rang the bell and knocked on the door since it could reasonably be a security measure if someone was alone, but the place was dark and the door was locked. Thinking perhaps folks were running late, I sat on their patio to wait a few minutes. After maybe 10-ish minutes I called the salon number. Five to eight minutes elapsed with no response so I followed the instructions on the voicemail, which said to text for a faster response. I got a text from the owner saying that they were at an event and immediately after the text--whilst taking a screenshot of my confirmation text that I'd received two days prior--she called to say that they didn't have me on the schedule and asked if I had received a confirmation. I forwarded the confirmation and she said that the woman who was doing my brows had asked the day before if she had an appointment. She apologized, I rescheduled, but I'd planned the weekend of child's birthday party around this appointment and turned down plans because they conflicted so I was indeed pretty annoyed. Although it was outside the 8 week timeframe--my appointment was at the 8 week mark--they didn't charge me for going outside the initial touch-up timeframe (which would be expected but not always guaranteed). It would have been nice for them to tell the receptionist that though, since she stopped me as I was leaving thinking I hadn't paid. If I had to make the choice again, I wouldn't do the brows. All I can say is that your mileage may vary. It's undoubtedly a rare occurrence but the schedule thing and lack of communication makes me feel their reliability is suspect. And I'm not sure about going back for touch-ups if I need them in a few years.

I went in and was greeted by Catrina and Lucia. The overall process did take longer because Lucia was being trained but I didn't mind at all. I arrived at 1pm and left at 4:30. It was reassuring to hear all of the proper steps and procedures necessary to do a great job. They took their time finding the right color and measuring my brows. I felt confident they knew exactly what they were doing. I will say, I have a high pain tolerance, and this was very painful to me!! But well worth it. My brows turned out beautiful! I attended multiple sessions (at least four for each eyelid) because there were no results. It dragged on for months. Each session was EXTREMELY painful, even after multiple layers of numbing. At one point a vein on left eyelid started bleeding. Recovery after each session was horrible and painful. My eyelids were swollen, I was in pain for days after each session. Eyelids were leaking lymph fluid, creating crusty layers on eyelids. Eyeliner / tattoo itself was peeling off in huge chunks. The experience was very disappointing and expensive I realize that I signed a number of disclosures. However, I know now my skin is not to blame. Even though I was mad to feel that way. After waiting few months for my eyelids to heal I found another technician, in Park Ridge. I had a total of two sessions.. Initial and the touch up - done. Results are great! There was no pain during procedures. There was practically no healing time as I had NO ADVERSE reactions. No swelling, no redness, no leakage. So, a year later I finally got what I paid for (twice). I choose OMSPA after weeks of research, fact that they teach permanent eyeliner application. Sadly, I do not recommend for permanent eyeliner.

I should mention that I am a general dentist working in Chicago and saying that I pay attention to detail is an understatement. To put it lightly, I can be a bit controlling and difficult to please. At my very first visit, I had my eyebrows done. I watched nervously in a mirror as she tattooed my eyebrows. I was surprised at how quickly she was finished. I have read that this procedure can take up to an hour but I was out in less than 30 min (with half of that time actually being tattooed). I hate to brag, but wow... my eyebrows look amazing!! I still get compliments on them to this day. My eyebrows were not bad before but I always thought they looked better a little filled in. Now I wake up every morning with perfect eyebrows! Its really great, I would recommend it to anyone. I later went back to see Wanda to get my eye liner done. Which I NEVER thought I would do for obvious reasons (like what if i didn't want to wear eyeliner somedays?). I told Wanda I wanted it to look very natural. I trusted her so much at this point, I just let her do her thing. She did such a phenomenal job. It looks exactly how I wanted it to look and I couldn't be happier. LOCATION: I have been 3 different locations to see Wanda. All were extremely easy to find. Parking was never an issue (even in her downtown location!) and all facilities were clean and comfortable. PAIN: I was very worried about how much this was going to hurt. I am a bit of a baby when it comes to needles and I grow especially frantic with thing close to my eyes. Wanda uses a topical numbing agent before she starts and this helped more than I can describe. She must use a very strong topical agent because the pain was much less than I was expecting. Ultimately, your still getting a tattoo on you eye lid so keep in mind its not the most comfortable feeling. Wanda works very quickly and so even if you are having a bad experience, it doesn't last very long. MONEY: This is a bit of an investment for beauty but I did some simple math and justified this expense. The amount of money I would have spend on eye liner and brow filler over the course of many years was much higher than what I would be investing on tattooing it in. When you combine that with the fact that you will be saving so much time getting ready every morning it seemed like a no brainer! Overall, Wanda is a true artist. She has been doing this for decades and now teaches other people how to do this art. She is an esthetic eye, works incredibly fast and is extraordinarily talented. I couldn't ask for better qualities in my permanent makeup artist.
