I visited this location on Boxing Day for their 50% off day on holiday items- The staff was pumped, friendly and very helpful during my experience. I have never been to a store with so much energy- I think the energy of the staff really rubbed off on the customers in a positive way. I appreciate the staff during this busy stressful time. The staff here are super friendly and very helpful! My best friend wanted to find a last minute gift for her MIL, with sensitive skin, so we walked in five minutes before the place closed. The staff did not act putout or annoyed and they helped her narrow down the perfect gift. We kept apologizing, but they said don't worry about it! They even offered a sample example, so she could see how the product worked. Their COVID policies are great! They will let you in the store only wearing a mask (don't even think about taking it off to sniff the products) and after washing your hands with some good smelling one-time-use soap! I have been in several Lush stores before and their products are okay. There isn't really anything I personally care for, but my daughter does like the body bars. So, while visiting Portland, we stopped by this location. Upon entering, we were asked to wash our hands. Fair enough, however we were already stopping to wash our hands when we were asked to do so. The reason this place gets two stars is because of the woman who works there. So, after asking us to wash our hands, she reminded us that we need to wear masks in the store. You have to wear masks in all stores! We all had masks on. We were the only people in the store, I was a good 20 ft away from anyone, and at one point I very slightly pulled my mask down to smell something and she immediately ran over and told me I needed to keep my mask on completely the whole time. I could not smell the item through my mask. We quickly purchased my daughter's bar and left. I would never go back to that location. read more

I could hardly use the bar on my body when it was new....the outside was made of mostly a thick film that would not lather or rub off on my body. It sat for 3 months in my shower...getting smaller and smaller from the water running over it. I'd try to use it every now and then but it didn't actually get the "scrub" effect until it was less than half of its original size. Will not return. read more

The staff seems like they really care about you and I know at times its for the sale, but they work pretty darn hard for it. At times I may even need a little breathing room in the store. But it's also nice that they're their for you if you have any questions. I had some fantastic recommendations on scrubs and masks that saved my skin after the wear and tear of wearing foundation frequently. Not only did everything smell delicious, but many of the products are formed into adorable shapes that are pleasing to the eye. I bought a few bath bubble blocks in the shape of flowers and tulips for my mother-in-law. The displays were all very well organized with chalkboard labels with the product name, ingredients and use. If you still had questions, there were several workers nearby that were knowledgable and more than willing to give you the information you needed to make a decision on whether the product was right for you. There were samples you could try yourself or get assistance with if you didn't quite know how to use it. The ingredients of the products are not tested on animals, are organic, and many are edible (most smelled good enough to eat!). If I stumble upon this store again in the future, I'm certain I will be lured into buying some more soaps and scrubs for myself and for gifts for others. I will only shop at Lush online now due to how pushy and aggressive the salespeople have become. I worked retail for a long time, and it is one thing to greet customers and offer help or strike up conversation about a product, it is another to march up to people and ask what they are shopping for and stand there to force an awkward conversation. I know the products very well and want to be left alone to shop. On my last visit, I almost left without my items twice due to the salespeople. I finally get the first associate to leave me alone and go to check out with my items, and the cashier loudly asks, "any face masks or lotions for later?" My favorite item was the body washes including the nanna "yellow wash" and the honey wash (honey I dropped the kids) because of how fragrant and clean it left my body! Love it here! The products at this store are always pretty awesome. I love the massage bar collection with the cinnamon one being the best for both keeping dewy and giving a massage. Bath bombs I usually get as gifts since I'm a shower person. I am sad they don't have the shower bombs anymore, they had a hangover one that was legit. Today when I went in I was given samples of some products I wanted to try out. I really like that I can go home and test things! I got the split end mender because I can carry it in my purse and also travel with it. My ends are super dry and this works to make them less haggard. I got the tan version of there stocking bar. It is legit. I like how my skin glows and also it will last forever. Very easy to travel with and I can see it multi tasking in a pinch. I also got a foot scrub that smells good and seems like it'll get my feet in order. I don't get why I was cursed with such ugly feet, but I will do my best to make em pretty. I did get a little crazy and get two make up colors gold and silver (they have other names but whatever). The colors are super pigmented and also can be used as lip, eye, eye lash, or mixed into something else. They are spendy at almost $20 each but I the quality should make it worth it. I still haven't bought the mascara from here. I will use up what I have now and then take the plunge. My eyes are pretty sensitive so it is right up my ally. Blonde girls they now carry violet shampoo. I got a sample and will rush back if it is good. Usually violet shampoos are crazy drying so this might be the winner! Someone mentioned a worker in their review and I think I had the same one. However she was the only one to offer me samples and help me find the best product for my hair type. If you feel smothered in anything you do in your life I suggest being firm. just tell someone straight up you prefer a no talking shopping experience. Otherwise accept they are doing their job. I thought she was awesome! In all if you are looking to treat yourself or someone else Lush is a great option. Whoosh! I've actually only ever used with any regular frequency is Lush's shower jelly Whoosh!, which is a bit like if you made a jello out of soap and made it smell awesome. Everyone in this store in phenomenal. I come here often, as this is my go to skincare line, and I'm always consistently blown away by their customer service. As a vegan, the options for products is insane. I believe the store is 70-80% vegan friendly, and considering that they always let you sample, it's awesome to know what I should be buying. I currently have been using the BB Seaweed mask and when left in the refrigerator, and placed on my face...the cooling sensation tingles my face. With me & Lush, it was love at first scent. I adore everything in & about Lush. Everything in here smells so yummy & nourishes my skin & hair in ways that no other brand or product can. I have yet to try a Lush product that I didn't like, & I've tried many. Now, if this review were for Lush the company it would end here. But sadly, it's not. No, this review is for Lush's store, particularly the one at this location. Every time I notice one of my beloved products running low, I cringe because it means I'm going to need to set foot inside a Lush store. And stepping inside a Lush store means that I'm going to be subjected to Lush's pushy, nosy, & overly-helpful salespeople. As soon as I walk through their doors, I am inundated with three hip, enthusiastic salespeople who vibrantly say hello. I say hi back & make my way over to the shelves I frequent each time I come in. A girl with facial piercings & gelled-up hair approaches me & asks if I'm looking for anything in particular. No, I say, I know exactly what I need. She smiles & tells me that if I need anything or have any questions to let her know. I thank her. I linger at this shelf a bit before selecting my favorite spray toner. I was running dangerously low & the idea of having this sweet smelling rose water in my possession again made me giddy. My glee is brutally interrupted by the gelled-up hair girl who quietly comes up from behind me & exclaims that that is her FAVORITE TONER EVER. She then asks me if I've ever tried any of their other facial products. I say yes, that I've tried most of their line. She smiles sweetly & says again that if I have any questions to let her know. I thank her. I move to another shelf, the one where the perfumes are kept. This time, a different salesperson comes up to me & asks me if I knew about their new fragrance line. No, I say, only mildly interested. This one proceeds to tell me unsolicited information about said perfume line as I try to inconspicuously tune him out. He asks what my favorite scents are. Vanilla, I say, which is what I was coming in to buy in the first place. He exclaims with delight that if I like vanilla then I MUST try this one new scent which has hints of vanilla in it. He dabs the inside of my wrist & I take a whiff. It smells good, but it's not what I'm looking for. I tell him that I'm actually interested in Vanillary, which I pick up & put in my basket. He looks puzzled that I have made a choice so easily when there are so many amazing things to choose from. He giggles as he makes a joke at my decisiveness, & offers to help me again should I have any questions about anything in the next two minutes. I thank him. I'm nearly done with my shopping trip when something pink & glittery catches my eye. A new bath bomb, perhaps. I walk over, pick up the bomb, & smell it, getting flecks of fuscia glitter on my nose. It smells divine, like cotton candy covered in rose petals & whipped cream. Then, gelled-up hair girl prances over & asks eagerly if I've ever tried their bombs. Yep, I say a bit briskly, adding that I've been using Lush products for the last seven years. The girl's face brightens at my loyalty. She then asks whether or not I have dry skin after bathing. I say that I do & instantly regret it, because now I am being led by the hand to where their body butters are kept. She wants to demo a body butter on my arm that is JUST PERFECT for dry skin. In that moment, I want to fall out like a three-year-old & yell at the top of my lungs, "PLEASE LEAVE ME BEEEE!!!" because I've now been in the store 30 minutes when the trip should've only taken ten & my arm is sopping wet & I'm really hungry, & OH MY GOD she needs to exfoliate my skin with a sea salt scrub first?!?!! This happens nearly every time I walk into Lush. The prodding, the fussing, the nosiness. I mean, I get it. They're super excited about their products. I know they mean well, I do, but I wish they would back off enough to allow me to the explore their wares in peace without their breath on the back of my neck, for the love of all that is holy! I'm a Lush. Yes. While I sometimes cringe at the prices I am a huge fan of this store. I love fragrance, and Lush has it in spades. I have made a couple of my own bath products at home (bath truffles and bath bombs) I know that it's not particularly cheap and it can be time consuming. I figure buying a few things now and then is a better way to go. My favorite product is the sakura bath bomb, which is a cherry blossom scent that is divine! I wish they had more products with the same scent. I also love their special holiday scents and gift boxes. Perfect for your favorite bath junky. The staff can be a little too aggressive at times, but overall they're just very enthusiastic about their products. It's really nice that they allow you to try their products before committing to buying. They almost always send home a sample of something when I go. I love bath bombs most of all and have bought them in your stores in Albuquerque, Washington D.C., Doha, Bucharest, and now here in Portland. But after today I'll never be back. The first Lush I came across was in Whistler back in 2001. Soap that looks like sushi and face masks that look like ice cream. I loved it all. I've probably spent about $300 on products over the years. I agree that the companies sales tactics are overbearing. I know for a fact that its the company and not this particular location as I have known several people who worked at another Lush. It is ridiculous, Yet still, the products are just so, well, lush that I can put up with a little prodding from the employees.
