I called, LM, 48 hrs later I called back and the nurse said she called me....and yep, they had miskeyed my phone number - off by 1 digit. So I waited a week after my visit before following up on a referral. I called again, left message. She called me back and said I need to go to my primary care for referral. OK. I asked "Did you send my progress notes to my PCP!" She said "No, we don't know who he is." Isn't he listed on the referral? She didn't see it. Whatever. Then she asked me why I needed to see a specialist. WHAT DOES SHE DO THERE? Is it not right there in my file? Insanity! Anyway, things that were not cool on my visit: when you walk in, they slap a label on a cup and hand it to you with your clip board and expect you to hold a plastic cup until you're seen. I declined that nonsense. I literally sat in the small, crowded waiting room for 1 hr 10 minutes waiting to be seen (55 minutes past my appt time.) I did have to use the bathroom by the time I was seen and there was no soap in the bathroom!! There was an empty bottle with a little bit of water inside trying to make more soap. That's not a good look during cold and flu season much less at a doctor's office!!

MidSouth OBGYN is the building right before you get to the women's hospital, with parking right across the street. There is also a walkway directly to the women's hospital. The front areas and patient rooms are clean and have Wi-Fi access. MidSouth OBGYN does general visits, annual checkups, ultrasounds, labwork, and mammograms. Although the doctor is nice, the staff could be more welcoming.

Easily the worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. I came in for an acute concern. After checking…read morein they had me leave a urine sample. Was never informed of what they did with it. If they ran a pregnancy test or a urinalysis on it they didn't inform me of that or the results. Then I went to have my vitals checked. When it wouldn't read the first time she had me hold my other arm in the air to check it. For anyone not in healthcare this is not a proper way to check it and skews the reading. Big shocker my blood pressure came back high but they didn't bother to recheck it properly. I then waited over a hour to see Dr. Johnson. When she came in she said oh you're here for abnormal bleeding well you've gained weight and this birth control is known to fail (1. I might have gained weight since my previous visit but my weight has been stable well before my gynecological concern started 2. I have been on this birth control for 9 years without issues). She did not ask any history regarding how long, quantity, associated symptoms etc. She also did not preform any type of exam. She then proceeded to list my options were to continue to suffer or try a new birth control and listed all the birth control options and was upset when I didn't immediately choose one. I totally understand now why people don't like doctors and why people think women's health doesn't get enough attention and it's because the women's health doctors don't care. Not to mention she previously hadn't followed the American College of Obstetricians guidelines for cervical cancer screening with Pap smears (likely so she can charge more for each visit). On a nice note the facilities are nice and nursing staff was kind.

This is a clinic that performs abortions, but it's not only that. It also provides cancer screenings, birth control prescriptions, std testing and much more, to only call it an abortion clinic is so ignorant. And yet sometimes you see protestors outside trying to obstruct, harass and prevent people from going in. They also do a lot of youth outreach programs, teaching teens how to have safe sex, so they can prevent pregnancy and therefore never even need an abortion, so even if you hate abortion, fact is that Choices prevents so, so many from happening and keeps the women of Memphis independent. If you're living in an abusive relationship, this is a safe place for you to go. Lots of places are not as discreet, but the receptionist here can call you and say that they are simply "the doctor's office" to keep you from having to reveal to abusive partners/parents/roommates that you're on birth control or considering an abortion. Often, they will do this regardless of if you ask for it or not. This is the real deal. Don't go to LIFE CHOICES on cooper. It's designed to deceive you into thinking it can preform abortions, but instead will scar you with misinformation at a time when you need facts so you can make an educated decision for yourself. If you need birth control, they can help. Initial health screenings for new patients are $55, on top of whatever method you decide. Some are free long term methods, others are cheap and long lasting (like depo povera, the shot, which you take once every three months, which is what I'm on.) They take insurance now, just not for abortions. To to their website for more info!
