queen laurel and i on the latigo canyon ride

This was an amazing ride experience, we booked for my friend's birthday and got to ride with Laurel, who was absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommend the sunset 6pm time slot as the views are stunninngggg at that time. The horses listen well and was overall a comfortable and very enjoyable experience, will definitely be coming back!!

We had such an amazing time riding with Laurel! The horses were well behaved but not just plodding along without thinking, it definitely actually felt like an experience where you were actively riding the horse which was so great. The views were insane and we got a lot of great pictures of our group without needing to worry about having our phones out while trying to ride (we of course did have time to stop and take pictures at the big view point ). Overall this was a safe, relaxing, and fun experience from a place that clearly really cares about and knows its horses, which at the end of the day is the most important thing.

Arrived within the 15 minute grace period. Gate locked and nobody answers phone or texts.

We drove 2 1/2 hours to celebrate a very special birthday on horseback and arrived within the period allotted. The gate was locked and there was no one to talk to or text until 45 minutes after service was supposed to start (only a single text, not even a callback) I had even contacted them & left a voicemail an hour & 30 mins before service to confirm our arrival, etc. We did not get to ride. I've never felt such a blatant disregard for customer service or human consideration in an atmosphere that was meant to be fun. The day is ruined and this is NOT a business that cares. Service was at 9. By the time I even thought to take pictures for timestamp, it was 9:13 but had arrived prior to that trying to figure out how to get in the already locked gate. Would not recommend.

My boyfriend and I went to High Horse for our 2 year anniversary. Nick and Shayna helped us out with a quick horse riding lesson & guided us and the horses through the entire walk. Nick was capturing photos of us along the way so it was especially nice to not worry about taking pictures the entire time and really soak in the views. The horses were also super friendly and cute! Our horses were Hank and Firewater. Overall, it was an enjoyable and smooth experience. It was our first time horse riding so we had some initial reservations but everything went well and I would highly recommend their business! Please make sure to bring cash for tip. They have Venmo available as well.

My wife and I were in Malibu for our anniversary. We were looking for things to do before we went and stumbled across this sunset horseback riding experience through our Air B&B host. The experience is located up in the hills but the directions to get there were very thorough. Nick and Shayna were very professional, patient, and insightful! The experience wouldn't have been near as good if we didn't have amazing guides! I was a little nervous going into it since I had never ridden a horse before. Shayna and Nick go over everything with you to make you feel more comfortable before you ride. Plus they are right there between everyone to make sure things run smoothly. You ride through some hills and valleys that offer amazing views! There are a couple of great spots where you will stop and have photo opportunities. We had an amazing time. The two other people in our group came from Singapore and said this was the one of the most fun experiences they had ever had. Would 100% do it again and will now looking for horseback riding experiences more often!

This place is seriously the best kept secret as far as boarding facilities in LA goes! I came…read moreacross Patrick's info through a post on one of the local equestrian's FB pages earlier this year when I was looking for a horse to lease. I met with Patrick & Casey on my first visit. For starters, they were extremely knowledgeable about everything horse related. That aside, they were insanely warm and genuinely receptive. My 9 yo daughter started taking lessons with Casey and has learned so much. She's extremely patient but just thorough enough to keep my kid's attention. She knows her stuff, there's no question about that, and keeps her engaged while soaking it all in. Patrick is just as talented and has helped me get over a big hump which was my recently developed and thoroughly annoying fear I had after taking a pretty huge fall off a giant thoroughbred a few months prior. The experience had left the entire half of my body black and blue from impact (in addition to rolling 5 times like a lifeless rag doll..lol). My confidence had shriveled up into something unrecognizable. I had ridden horses my whole life starting when I was 8 and had always been pretty fearless. Needless to say, it was frustrating to say the least. I'm happy to say, he was triumphant at getting me through it! I was able to reach a mentally sound place by working seamlessly through it on one of their beautiful warmbloods, "Moose". By the end of my first lesson, I was confidently cantering again in stride with perfect leg yields. (Thank you Patrick!:) I seriously have nothing but great to say about these guys. As far as the facility goes, This place is sublime. It's so ridiculously peaceful and scenic here. It's truly amazing to see all the horses... just be...well horses, roaming naturally with the other horses in their specifically assigned pastures. The horses look genuinely happy and content. It never occurred to me that there was any other way to keep a horse other than being pent up in solitude in a compact X' by X' stall for most of the day. That is of course unless you have the fortunate enough to reside on a farm with lots of acres behind it to put them in. Which honestly, who around here really does? A+++ fyi- I find the negative 'review' that "Leah G." left, interestingly and hilariously ironic, especially since she literally refused to refund me the $350 dollars I paid her in advance for a package set of lessons right before she skipped town last July with absolutely no notice. I seriously considered filing a case with small claims, bc I'm a single mom and try hard to keep everything on a tight budget in order token our heads above water. I decided it wasn't worth the time and energy for the amount lost. It still stung and shocked me that someone would do that. So to see her on here attempting to give this place of all places, a bad name.. Clearly, by her own words she's incredibly unstable . Proceed with caution doing any kind of business with Leah Green. I mind as well have gotten 350 $1 bills and tossed them out my car window doing 80...would've at least got a little show in my rear view ...just saying

We met our guide at a private lot with direct beach access. (No crossing freeways or long rides to the beach) Our guide Steve was friendly and we were given clear instruction before mounting the horses. My husband had never been on a horse before and he was nervous but afterward said he had a great time and felt confident on the horse as we rode. While we did not book a private ride, our group ended up only being our family of three and it was a truly gorgeous day and awesome experience. If we lived local I would do this all the time!

I brought a water bottle attached to a lanyard and both of these employees felt the need to judgmentally ask me if I "really needed that water bottle" and "are you sure that won't fall off?" Of course, the water bottle did fall off. When we got back, the man rudely and unnecessarily remarked "I told you it would fall off." I was paired with a terrible horse who did not follow any of my commands, constantly ate the vegetation, pinned his ears at and would try to bite the other horses for no reason, etc. I have some experience riding horses and I was doing my absolute best with this out-of-control horse. In turn, I was continually being barked at by the guides to "pull up on the reins and release, don't let him eat, kick him, go to the back, catch up to the rest of the group, keep him away from the other horses" etc. In addition, we rode through a very busy freeway overpass with multiple onramps/offramps and cars everywhere. We also passed right next to an active railroad. Of course, a train roared past a mere ten feet away from us. The horses spooked and it was a miracle that no one was thrown off. We were not given any prior warning that we would be riding in the middle of these very dangerous environments. If there was a warning in the waiver, I wouldn't have known because we were so rushed to sign it and had no time to read it. We finally made it to the actual beach and spent a mere 20 minutes on the shore before riding back through the danger zones towards home. I spent the entire ride pissed off, disappointed and feeling unsafe.

I initially found Diane when I wanted to learn to jump for the collegiate equestrian team. She teaches jumping from a dressage point of view, so the rider learns how to be secure in their seat and communication with the horse, as opposed to just going along for the ride. In two summers I went from never jumping in my life to being able to safely jump 4 ft. fences and be comfortable on almost any horse. I am now riding dressage with Diane and I have learned more in a few years riding with her than I have in over a decade with other trainers. Her teaching style is very straightforward and honest, and she knows when to push forward, when to change tactics, and when to step back, which is so rare in any type of instruction. Diane is truly a world class instructor and trainer, if you are looking for a place to ride don't hesitate to call her!
