MULCH PURCHASED FROM LUTZ'S - 11 CU YARDS April 7, 2025, I had 11 cu. yds. double ground bark mulch delivered from Lutz's located at 4407 Skippack Pk. Schwenksville PA. That bill was $453.10, including a $45 delivery fee. I was most disappointed when just 1 month later, hundreds of Pinellia weed smothered my vast areas of garden. Pinellia weed is considered "the bane of gardening" in the industry since it is highly invasive and is an INERADICABLE nuisance, there's nothing you can spray to kill it. I spent days DIGGING up Pinellia since you can't just pull it; until I had no more trash cans to place the heavy dirt with weed awaiting pick up. NOTE: The complete root buried under the surface must be removed, including the tuber 6" to 8" below the garden soil. Having an enormous amount of work remaining, I stopped back at their office and asked to speak to the business owner regarding a refund. I explained to Marlene, the owner, I don't allow the use of PREEN WEED KILLER, which is standard in the industry, since it KILLS ALL BULBS BURIED and PLANTED. I also suggested that the Pinellia weed seed could be held in the rough ridges of the surface bark (since I purchased bark mulch) and ground in their product. She suggested that I email pictures to document the problem and she would discuss it with "the guys"/other owners. In that email, I also included a picture of a wooded cluster garden section that I don't mulch, which contained NO WEED. I was disappointed when Marlene returned the call the next day stating there would be NO REFUND. It didn't matter that the Pinellia weed was only in the mulched areas, nor did she accept the fact the rough bark would hold the weed seed and ground in her product. She further stated she gets no complaints from landscapers. (That's because they all use PREEN WEED KILLER to deliver a satisfactory job.) We have bought firewood for our indoor fireplace for over 20 years. We purchased from Lutz this year and it is absolutely the worse firewood we have ever purchased. It is clearly not all seasoned wood as they stated on the phone. The wood does not burn right and creates a lot of smoke. When I called, Marlene blamed it on my not knowing how to light a fire correctly, even though I've been doing so for over 20 years with no issues. Trying to rectify the situation with them was useless and a nightmare. Stay away! read more

I ordered for the first time today from Lutz's. I ordered 6 yards of double ground mulch, delivered (same day!), for my father, on the recommendation of our landscaper (and so much more!), Gerry Arndt with Sustainable Land Solutions LLC. We have order mulch before from other places, but nothing quite right. My father likes "the good stuff', he's very particular, as he has been gardening for over 50 years. As it rolled off the truck I could see the little glimmer in his eye, yep, it was the good stuff! Hanna was very helpful with the order and took the time to answer my questions and got right back to me with delivery availability. The delivery driver placed the material exactly where we asked. I ordered fill dirt. They said it would contain stones which I acknowledged. They delivered about 50% stumps and roots along with some stone and dirt. When i called to express my dissatisfaction i was told "that is what you get". i will never use them for anything again as i question their integrity having said one thing and delivered another read more

First time ordered coal i called for price was told 235 a ton then they turned around and charged a 30 dollar delivery fee so i actual paid 245 a ton ... will never use again. shady at least i am heating with coal for years and never had anything like that before read more

Service was very nice, and they even help load your vehicle up. Price was also very good. I would recommend.

Getting coal is quick and easy. Pull up on the scale, they dump it in and your on your way. Friendly staff and very fair pricing.

Been a long time customer. First couple years I could brag about them. Last few years, the firewood looks to be split 8 times on a log. I always order large long wood. They say on the phone, 18 to 24. On the web site say for large 19 to 24. I find very few 24". You will have more 19". Still a nice company to deal with. read more
