The service representative, Tyler came out on time, wore booties, covered the area near my fireplace to protect the floor and was very respectful of my home. He also did a great job of servicing and cleaning my vermont castings gas stove. He even took the time to show me how to restart the stove, should the pilot light go out again; I greatly appreciated his help. He left my gas stove looking new again! Thank you so very much! Over the last two years, I have worked with Salter's to install an outdoor fire pit, buy Adirondack chairs, and to service our indoor gas fireplace. Here's the good about this store. Their inside salespeople were fantastic. Jordan Burroughs was attentive and helpful during the whole process. The fire pit install was done professionally by one of their contractors. Here's the bad about Salter's. If you are looking for any type of service visit for your fireplace, you should probably look elsewhere. This company has the absolute worst responsiveness of any service company I have ever worked with. During the last two years, the only way that I ever got a reply from someone was to actually go into the store and talk to them. If you call for service, you will be directed to leave a message with their service department and they will call you back. In 2021 when we had the indoor and outdoor work done,I had to call for service a minimum of 8 times before ending up in their store asking for help. In 2022, I called for a regular "fireplace tuneup and cleaning" no less than 3 times before moving onto another fireplace company. Again, great store if you're looking to buy fireplace stuff. Service level needs a serious upgrade as I am sure that others have felt the same level of frustration as I have. read more

Five stars does not do justice to this incredibly honest company. We have had our ventless fireplace serviced by Salter's on two occasions and the individual who serviced our fireplace was courteous, respectful and performed all of the necessary services at a reasonable price. In the past two weeks we visited the Eagleville showroom to pursue options on updating and or replacing our existing fireplace. It was obvious the young ladies who answered our questions had our best interests at heart. They easily could have sold us various options; they explained to us in great detail the pluses and negatives in what we were trying to accomplish. In the end, their honesty in explaining to us the negatives cost them a sale. We left Salter's discouraged that we couldn't accomplish what we would have liked to do; but, knowing that honest businesses and people still exist in this world left us with a good feeling in our hearts. read more

Our fireplace was not working properly since we moved in. All of the other fireplace companies told us that it would have to be replaced, without even coming to look at it. Brad came to our house yesterday & said it just needed some routine maintenance and spent about an hour cleaning everything and making adjustments. Now it works perfectly. Brad was very nice, easy to talk to and very transparent with everything he did. There was no mess and no clean up for us. I highly recommend Salter's with HUGE KUDOs to Brad. read more

We were in the market for a fireplace insert for our existing fireplace, and just happened to drive by Salter's one day. We are so glad we did. We dealt with Lisa who was just fantastic. She is really nice, and most importantly honest. She spent time with us and got us a fireplace that really works well for us. With Salter's propane across the street, they were able to install the tank and the fireplace together, it worked out much better than using two different companies. I recently had an chimney insert installed. I have had NOTHING but problems since this unit was installed. I have only had it a few months and in that time frame my child had to go to the ER because the smoke from the fireplace did not vent out the chimney instead the smoke came through the closed "sealed" fireplace into my living room and through the house. I have called several times and complained about this issue and unfortunately nothing has been done about it. This company never came out to see what could be wrong Instead they just dismiss it. I have videos and photos of this happening. If this issue isn't resolved I will have to seek illegal actions against this company. I spent to much money for this issue to keep happening. read more

Last year's maintenance visit went fine (hence the two stars, not one), but this year's was a nightmare. Service specialist (Chip) was the rudest I have had anyone be to me in my home in a very long while. Appointment was moved twice with no notice and by the third date (which I didn't pick but was merely given), it was scheduled by then on a Saturday (which Chip had a huge attitude about). I would suspect misogyny but he was equally rude to the men present as well. Service did not get completed and I was offered no resolution such that I can safely resume using a relatively new insert. I will call their competitors and see if some other adults can come and finish what is a relatively not big deal job. Mind is blown that this went so sideways... read more

This should have been 5 stars, except we haven't received a phone call from Jordan on a final issue with our propane insert. First visit was at the showroom in August to get info about switching out our wood insert (bought at Salters 25 years ago), to propane. Staff and our rep very patient and courteous. Selected our unit end of October, & installation was penciled in for 12/2/21. November we received a call from our rep who advised the unit, or the surround was not available, and we selected another unit. A couple phone calls to Salter with questions prior to the day of installation. Our rep was unavailable, but the women who assisted in his absence was phenomenal. 12/2 early morning, the two technicians arrived at our house to install, & were great. Once complete, the propane rep appeared, also great. All three took their time answering our questions and giving advice, so it was a very good experience. So far the choice to go propane has been right for us. The problem is we were pretty adamant about having glass stones, (vs the fake wood in our unit). We talked to Jordan & determined there may have been a miscommunication (I'm accepting partial blame), and who said he would reach out to the manufacturer. We should have received a phone call by now, and that's why the review isn't 5 stars. read more

Norristown, PA This is a pretty cool place for upper middle (I dont think this is the highest quality out there but it is pretty $$$ here) end patio outdoors grill and real and fake fireplace things. I totally enjoyed imaginarily owning things as I was browsing. At least now I know where I will be spending a portion of the lottery winnings. LOL! I hear a lot of people are intimidated of checking out places beyond their income range...but not me! You never know when you can inherit half of the planet like some of them billionaires did. So always be ready to spend it wisely so get to know what is out there high end low end etc. the lady rep here was telling me the product I checked out was aluminum and lasts longer than steel products. um, really? Salters came out to service my gas insert. First time I have a house with natural gas so I didn't know what to expect. The service technician was Jared. He showed up on time, was very professional during the whole visit. Wore mask and boot covers in the house. Set up a mat to protect carpet and went to work immediately. Turned on the fireplace right away, cleaned it up nicely and now is up and running. He answered all my questions and didn't try to sell me anything unnecessary. Just bought a house in Eagleville with a gas fireplace. Wife and I love fires and the fireplace in the new house was in desperate need of some TLC. I met with Jordan B. on 9/22 about 3:00 pm and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. He indicated that I needed to provide him with some information about my fireplace before we could proceed. I sent that information around 4:00 the same day and he said he would send it to Kathy in Service immediately to schedule a service call. I understood that if my current unit wasn't serviceable that we would be looking at an insert (about $4,000). I didn't hear from Kathy so I called Service on 9/23 (6 times) and no one answered. I called again on 9/24, no answer. I left a voicemail on 9/24 but still have not received a return call. During one of the call, talked to a customer service person. She indicated that she had to call the Service Department to help me. I went to Salters to order a replacement door for my fireplace. They were very helpful during the visit. However, after someone came out to measure for the door, they told me they had concerns about ordering the part and would not move forward with replacing my door. I had no problem with this but it took almost a month and repeated calls and emails to get them to refund the $1000 deposit they initially charged me. When they finally did process the refund, they told me they would not refund the full amount because they were charging me $75 for the visit to measure for the door. This fee was never discussed in advance. I was prepared to pay for the part and have them do the work but it was their decision not to go ahead with it. I think it's pretty poor customer service for them to refuse to do the work and then still charge me a significant fee for the measurement. read more

I had such a great experience with this place. Converting our log burning fireplace over to a gas log fireplace was the best thing we've ever done. We love being able to just turn the fire on instead of having to bring in wood from outside, build the fire, smell the soot etc. Yes, I know that nothing can replace a real fire, but this gives us a lot of ambiance and some warmth as well. If you really want to go full throttle on the warmth you can get the inserts which are more expensive, but they can probably heat an entire house if it's small. Kristin helped us and she knew her stuff. You can find the log sets online, but Salters price was competitive and even if I paid maybe $30 more, they gave me the guidance I needed, and ordered it for me and then installed it once it came in. Sooooo worth it! And the log set we ordered is from the charred collection and looks very real. Everyone loves it and we have fires all the time now! read more

Just had my Heat & Glo fireplace serviced by Chip Shoemaker at Salter's. Definition of a true professional. Chip was highly knowledgeable and took his time to ensure that the job was done right. He explained how the fireplace operate, what could cause issues, and even explained the different features on the remote control to maximize efficiency of the unit. He also treated my house like his own by laying down work cloths, took his shoes off, and also vacuumed thoroughly around the work area. I just called to schedule a service appointment and was told that 1) The woman who coordinates service appointments was currently inundated with requests and that I would need to leave a message in her voice mail. 2) If I didn't receive a call back today then I should NOT call back as it would just appear were more calls coming in then there really were. I can completely appreciate that there is a back log given the upcoming holiday and recent cold snap, but I am extremely displeased with how I was just treated as a potential customer. Salter's was one of many places we planned to visit yesterday to find a new wood stove - it just happened to be our first stop. After spending time looking around and getting insight and information from Eric, we felt confident about what we wanted, but felt it our due diligence to still check out a few more stores. We had done research prior to going out, so had a good knowledge base to what we wanted, price points, and products. My husband & I got back in our car, discussed it, and a few minutes later, walked back in to purchase the stove. We both own our own businesses, and felt that the experience we had with Eric - his time, his expertise, his generosity in information about other products (that they don't even sell, but that he was knowledgable about) - was the exact experience we ourselves hope to leave our clients with. We feel it's not always about negotiating for the very cheapest price, but recognizing there is an essential value in the experience offered by a business and their expertise and concern for clients. In the process of the actual purchase, we also were offered help and communication from Jay, one of the owners, who was just as lovely as the sales guy, Eric. At lunch after we left, I must have said to my husband 5 times, "I can't believe how nice of an experience that was!"
