Plus JJ was very gentle, i did not feel any discomfort at all, in fact I was so relaxed sitting on that huge plush chair that they have for treatments, that I think I dozed off for a bit. It's also feels like a very clean and safe salon, I was here just last week and they'd only been open for a week or two following the whole COVID shutdown. I had no qualms whatsoever; the salons are all in separate rooms, there is hand sanitizer everywhere and everyone is wearing masks.

I showed him a couple examples and asked for his professional input based on how I style and my daily routine. I went back to Kee for a partial balayage after we had talked about it real briefly during my first appointment. We had a good consultation beforehand, and he took the time to understand exactly the look I wanted, explain the process, and set realistic expectations. Thinking she was going to get it on her way in to make up for being over a half hour late I said yes. That was the wrong choice. The stylist ordered it but asked me to go pick it up across the street. First of all I had never met this woman before in my life. It just felt oddly unprofessional. When she came in she was clearly running late because of a late night and hungover as she discussed her night with her coworkers. It's an open salon, everybody can hear your conversations. The second time, I gave another try because my hair did look good & perhaps it was an off day that first time. This time though, I noticed my hair didn't look as great as the first time and it felt rushed. Tried a new stylist for the third time and she got bleach on the back of my shirt but didn't tell me, found out when I got home. I wish she just mentioned it at least.

After coming back to his station he tried to ignore that my roots were bright ORANGE, I said politely "its looking pretty warm and orange" he looked at me confused and said, you think so? Lets dry it and really see, he did and I said "you gave me hot roots". He then said, ok I'll put a toner on you we'll leave it on about 5 minutes, he did and left be by the shampoo area for about 15 mins. After rinsing it out it was all the same color, and he said So anything else? did you want a cut too? UH YA! thats what I was scheduled for and that was my main concern, but I guess with the soccer game he forgot. He kept saying ok so just a trim? maybe a half inch off? My hair was way over grown and I was again trying to explain my concerns to him about it needing shape and style and a good cut so it doesn't just hang there. I am pretty sure he only cut and inch off because here I am 3 weeks later and in desperate need of a hair cut!! I will say he did a great job of blowdrying my hair because when I left my hair looked good, it was shiny and smooth. He is a great hair stylist; really down to earth, efficiant, gives a fantastic blow-out, listens, but the one thing he's done that nobody ever has is put a hot towel under my neck at the shampoo bowl. I used to hate the shampoo bowl. now it makes me melt. I'm going to stick with this skilled fella. And in Bellevue, with all the high/competitive prices for hair, they got the right prices. Arte Hair Studio is a keeper. I think this is one of the few good businesses that needs to be cherished, left in a diminishing Factoria.

Since my hair is rather thin and not dense, we decided we want the ends to be fuller. He suggested different options which I appreciated :) He also did a similar consultation with hair color, given that I already had balayage previously and had 4-5 inches of black roots out. His studio is very nice and spacious for a solo studio. Charlie is also very personable and we had a great conversation- he gave me great life advice haha.
