I came here on a recommendation. First, the guy was more into watching soccer on his ipad than trying to consult my hair concerns. I was in for a cut and color which he knew since I scheduled with him personally. I told him OVER and OVER not to put much gold in my hair or it'll turn orange, I thought we had that understood. After applying my color he said he'd be back in 20 minutes to pull it through the ends, he took his iPad and left. It must have been a really intense soccer game, 40 minutes later he came back and pulled the color through left it on about 20 mins and rinsed me out. After coming back to his station he tried to ignore that my roots were bright ORANGE, I said politely "its looking pretty warm and orange" he looked at me confused and said, you think so? Lets dry it and really see, he did and I said "you gave me hot roots". He then said, ok I'll put a toner on you we'll leave it on about 5 minutes, he did and left be by the shampoo area for about 15 mins. After rinsing it out it was all the same color, and he said So anything else? did you want a cut too? UH YA! thats what I was scheduled for and that was my main concern, but I guess with the soccer game he forgot. He kept saying ok so just a trim? maybe a half inch off? My hair was way over grown and I was again trying to explain my concerns to him about it needing shape and style and a good cut so it doesn't just hang there. I am pretty sure he only cut and inch off because here I am 3 weeks later and in desperate need of a hair cut!! I will say he did a great job of blowdrying my hair because when I left my hair looked good, it was shiny and smooth. But basically I paid $175 for orange hot roots, a mediocre haircut and a good blow dry. (could have paid a whole lot less at HairMasters) I don't think I'd return again. I literally JUST got home from Indulge. Which obviously means I have strong feelings about this place or I wouldn't be writing this review. I have super thick long hair and wanted it lighter and flowy-er. (is that a word?) Amber cut my hair and she is fabulous. We all know it can be a little awkward when were getting our hair cut and conversing with our hairstylist. There was not one awkward moment. And she periodically asked me how she was doing just to make sure i liked the cut I was getting. I semi-recently moved back to Seattle and couldn't find anywhere I really liked. I am hooked on Indulge and am so happy I found a salon that works for me. It is so conveniently located on mercer island. They are so friendly right when you walk in the door. The only reason I gave it five stars is because I couldn't give it six. read more

This review is long overdue. I got my hair cut and colored by Lauren in late October/early November. Easily the best haircut I've had in years, not only did she get the color spot on, but she cut my hair EXACTLY the way I asked and I love it. I always get real nervous walking into salons, because I've had many bad experiences with stylists doing as they feel fit rather than as asked. Lauren did exactly as I asked and offered her input where she saw fit, but she didn't do anything without consulting me. I am a natural blonde and have been having a really hard time finding the right stylist to do exactly what I want to my hair. I have had hair disasters from roots still being seen after an appointment to bleached hair after saying I wanted to keep original blonde color for a more natural look. After visiting Amber at Indulge, I will never go anywhere else! Finally, I have found my go-to hairstylist!!!! Not only does she work hair miracles, she is the sweetest and most funny burst of energy. She greets you with a smile and makes you laugh throughout your visit. As soon as I sat in her chair, I pulled up an image of how I wanted my hair. A natural blonde with some light strands around the face, finishing with an ashy touch. She evened out my hair color, incorporating natural pieces in with my high contrast summer blonde ends. I could not be happier! The final cut and color makes my hair look effortlessly beautiful! I have been seeing Tina (the owner) for about 10 years. She is the ONLY person I trust with my super thick and curly hair. I have also had my hair styled by Amber, who also did a good job. Her Mercer Island salon is conveniently located and always clean. My only complaint is that the stylists are often running 15-20 minutes late despite having an appointment. Worth the wait for a great haircut, just know you might be there longer than planned. read more

I have desperately been trying to find someone that can get my hair just perfect, since traveling to Portland is getting rather tiresome just to style my hair. I found her! Amber is AMAZING. She is super friendly and literally I think this may be the best cut and color I have ever had done. My quest for the perfect stylist in Seattle is over and I couldn't be happier. The entire staff is incredibly friendly. I did a shellac pedi/mani and it also turned out great. My toes still look fantastic, like a dumbass though, I moved the day of my mani and ended up needing a bit of a fix, but that was my error, not theirs. I loved this place! I had a Groupon, which unfortunately tends to bring less-than-stellar customer service from a lot of places. This was not the case. My cut and full foil were done by Tina, the owner, and she nailed it. Made me look gorgeous for my event that night. And best of all, she let me sit and read my magazines and have my "me" time that I rarely get with 3-year-old twins. (I think the reviews that criticize the salon for poor conversation are hilarious--there's nothing I like more than to sit and read because it's the only time I get to do it!) The energy was great--happy, fun, but not too loud, which I really enjoy. And the shampoo/scalp massage was AWESOME. The only criticism I have (not enough to deduct a star) is the website is really difficult to read because of the script writing and it's very small (and I have normal vision--I hate to think how people with vision problems would view it). Plus the "flash" at the top is very distracting as you're trying to look at the price list. The only other downside is the regular prices are quite high (hello, Mercer Island) so this will be an "indulgence" for me, but I do look forward to returning. read more

The salon is clean, the people are friendly, the location is great, but Zarr is a real gem. He's is fantastic. Yes, FANTASTIC!!! I had previously had a cut and color somewhere else and needless to say, I was not in love with my hair. At all. It wasn't awful, but it could have been better. A friend recommended that I go to Indulge and see Zarr. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical, simply because you never know how something's going to turn out until it's done, especially hair. Zarr made magic with my hair, hands down. Not only is my color great but my hair is light, it looks super healthy and shiny and it feels amazing. Zarr is so much fun, I instantly knew I was in good hands, he took excellent care of me, I could not have asked for a better experience. I'd recommend anyone go see him. Since you're supposed to rate the business, not individual people, I will say that I'd give the place 4 stars, not 5 simply because parking was a bit troublesome. I ended up parking at the Chevron next door, since I wasn't exactly sure where to park my car. However, if I had to walk a mile in the snow for what Zarr did for my hair, I'd get right on it. Looking for a Brazilian / Keratin blow out? I was. I was VERY specific about wanting the brand name Brazilian Blowout. Not all keratin / blowout treatments are the same. Some work amazingly and some are so-so and some salon's lie about the brand and quality. Just to be sure, I asked the same question in 3 different ways. Is this Authentic? What brand do you use? What type of Keratin straitening do you use? When can I wash my hair? I was told and reassured that I would get a Brazilian Blowout (yes I asked what brand they used). I should have known when they quoted me $200. (Brazilian is closer to $400 - yea, the quality is that different) A Brazilian leaves my hair smooth, drying takes about 8 minutes instead of 20, my hair does not tangle with the Authentic treatment. My hair is curly / wavy / frizzy naturally but it isn't kinky or have tight curls. This was not my experience with this service. The treatment didn't work at all. The biggest disappointment was that they lied to me. When I called a few weeks later (after I had my hair re-done) I asked them what product they used. They gave me the name of the product, some brand I had never heard of. Then they offered to make an appointment for the service. When I explained what had happened, they reassured me that I received a Brazilian blowout. What I was actually reassured of was the fact that I couldn't trust this salon. read more

Great little salon! Yes, it is a bit small, but it is cozy!) they make up for that with great, friendly, professional service! Tina, the owner does beautiful hair, Judy does some of the best massages around and Julie will fix up your nails in no time! I am a bit biased as I have worked with all of these ladies in the past but have know them all for years and always refer people in their area to them. If your looking for a salon that will treat you like family and take care of all of your beauty needs at the same time at a fair price, this is the place for you! The new location, looks great and has a great feel. I will definately be back. The stylist, Tina, was able to get my hair almost how I wanted it. The color matches exactly, and the balayage highlights look very natural. I got the look I wanted, and close to home :). Drawbacks: conversation left something to be desired as there wasn't much. Many questions were answered with very short explanation, and she didn't seem to want to talk... But I'm not an amazing conversationalist either. A few (1-3) of my highlights around the face specifically are blunt and don't extend to my scalp by like an inch.. Looks slightly bad to me, but I'm also very critical... Take it how you want, but I am willing to give the salon another shot. read more

I wanted to try this place on recommendation of a friend but I will not be going now. I showed up for my appointment and Tina was out sick. Apparently they tried to call me but didn't have my phone number. So we tried to find another time but with work it was a struggle to find something. I said that I would need to call and schedule later. Guess what? Again, they didn't ask for my phone number. I am so disappointed that the people who I spoke with over the phone when making the appointment and the person today are so irresponsible as to not even ask for a customers phone number...twice!! Then in talking to another friend later she told me that after an experience she had there she will never go back. I guess I should have asked her first as she had a better recommendation. I saw Amber for a haircut. She was running about 20 minutes late, which isn't abnormal on a Saturday afternoon so it didn't bother me. Shampoo had a nice neck massage which was the best part! Cut was meh. For $65 plus tip I guess I expected the best cut of my life. I just moved here from Utah so of course it costs more, but double the price I'm used too. I'll probably just trim my own bangs between visits to Utah and stick with my stylist there. read more

The salon is the best the Island has to offer with a great atmosphere and a great crew. All salon services are offered there. I got my hair done a couple of weeks ago. I purchased a groupon and read the other reviews and was pretty impressed with the reviews. I went in for partial foils and cut and style with Tina, and let me tell you she did an awesome job. I went in with a couple pictures that I got from pintrest and she blended them together and gave me a great color. The cut was good too, even the style. I would go back there for more, its just its a little pricey for my taste, but it might be worth it in the next few months when its time to get my hair redone. I would go with Tina again just cuz she was cool to talk to. We had kids in common and I think that's why we clicked. I'm glad I found a hairdresser that I liked, I've been searching for a long time. Amber is an amazing stylist and very talented with both color and cut. Not only does she listen/ask questions regarding what style/color you're looking for, she is a great person! I was with Cecelia I believe? for a Brazilian wax and eyebrow wax/trim. Oh my let me tell you, I've never has a Brazilian before, my friend told me she had to take ibuprofen when she got hers and that she was in tears. I thought it was going to be a disaster but I was determined to get it done and Cece is the one to do it. She was quick, it stung like a thousand needles (I had a lot of long hair) but she made it go by fast. I almost thought about quitting half way through just because I've personally never waxed before and was worried about the inner part. She was reassuring and I'm glad she talked me out of quitting. I feel amazing. And she made my eyebrows have a shape they've been missing for awhile. I highly recommend her! Especially for first timers. read more

I called the salon to find out how to get there since my gps put me 1 block away. So after I parked in the parking garage and entered, I was 5 minutes late. I apologized, the front desk staff was kind and took my coat. Lauren introduced herself. She was certainly out for blood. I am unsure if it was due to my tardiness, my groupon, her own baggage, or all of the aforementioned. I will take some blame for the following as I am really reserved and don't like to make an employee uncomfortable in front of her peers. After the shampoo, she attempted to detangle my hair which was mildly painful but I got through it. After my trim, she began blow drying my hair. Never, in all of my years have I had a stylist burn me so many times. She pressed the hairdryer against my hair in a nonvented brush so close to my scalp in which it burned, I winced many times and asked her to stop burning me. A couple of times I had to physically pull myself away in pain. Another time she argued with me. What??!! Are you serious? I am pretty tough and can handle the typical knot, brief heat on the scalp, etc. But this was ridiculous. I am most disappointed in myself for not getting up and walking out. My scalp still hurts!!!! Not enough to redeem herself, but I will say the cut is decent. I'm pretty easy to please though since it's a pretty simple long layered trim. I will never go back to see Lauren. read more

Worst haircut of my life. I usually go to Seven salon in Bellevue, but I thought since Indulge was on Mercer Island it would be good quality so I gave it a try. The stylist was rude and unfriendly, and on top of that she cut about 4 more inches off my hair then I asked. I told her the length was not at all what I wanted and her response was "No this is what we talked about." I could not believe how horrible the service was and how little the employees cared about their clients. The worst part of all of this is that if I she was going to cut ten inches off my hair, and I could have donated it to benefit someone else. But instead she just hacked it away and threw it into the trash. Needless to say I will never go back. Poor service, poor workers, poor management. read more

Yikes! It's unfortunate that I am going from my 5 star review in 2012 when I started going to Tina (the owner of Indulge) to a 1 star today. While she has always done a consistently good job on my hair and I have referred many people to her as a result to the point that she gave me "a discount for life" in her words, Tina has shocked me with a sudden total lack of professionalism and respect. I was a regular every three months when I was due for a partial and cut. I have always called in to make an appointment around the 3 month mark, but for this recent appointment I went ahead and booked it while I was in for my last appointment as the receptionist always asked me to do. I live by my schedule as I'm a mom of two and a business owner among other things (can't we all relate to being busy?), so I know that I did not mistakenly get the appointment wrong. I confirmed it with the receptionist before I left that day once I put it in my calendar.... 3 months later, time for my appointment: I called on my way to the salon to confirm my appointment as I just got this weird feeling that I better call. 1. I had scheduled it 3 months ago. 2. one of my friends that I referred to her had a similar experience where she made an appointment that didn't actually make it on to the schedule at Indulge. In the call, I quickly realized that I was not on the schedule.... not that day, not any day. Tina had "stepped out". The receptionist was going to try to contact her and I also tried to contact Tina just to see what might have happened on her end and to find out if she could still accommodate me that day so I didn't have to sit in limbo the rest of the day. I was understandably frustrated with finding out that the appointment I had on my calendar for 3 months was not on theirs, anywhere. I contacted her several ways and asked her to call me just so we could talk over the phone. ....You know the whole etiquette thing, where if there is a problem that is put upon your customer, the manager/owner should call the customer (not text or instant message)? Well, not in Tina's world. With absolutely no urgency whatsoever, she finally instant messages me about 2 hours later to in-genuinely apologize and explains that she's not going to be doing hair after the end of this year as she's moving to the front desk herself, so I'd best find another stylist now (like Gene Juarez or Seven)..... not even another stylist in her salon! Wow! It's like I was banned (for doing nothing)! Mind you, I have never had any problem with Tina or her salon, so it's not like I was some hard to please, high maintenance, pain in the you- know- what customer. Meanwhile, her receptionist went ahead and put me down for the next day at 10 am. Even after I felt she should have been more sincere and it was not the least bit convenient for me as I would now have to bring my two young boys with me (who brings kids to a 1.5-2 hour hair appointment?), I still wanted her to do my hair as I was due and don't just have time to find someone else that will do a good job at the drop of a hat, I was willing to go in the next day. Silly me. I reached out to her twice in her 'preferred method of communication' asking her if she would confirm the appointment at 10 the next day. No response whatsoever. I called three times that next day. No response. So, needless to say, I did not drag my two young boys with me to her salon knowing she probably wasn't going to show up anyway. The problem was on her end as the owner. They dropped the ball in messing up the scheduled appointment I had. I can understand mistakes are made and have grace for that, but it's really the response (or lack of) I got from Tina that has turned me off completely. I won't be going back & will of course update the friends I referred. read more

She took her time and really gave me natural looking highlights without drying out my hair. And to top it off, I asked for an impromptu eyebrow wax which I had done right after my hair was finished. I have had my hair colored and cut at Seven salon for the past six years. I saw the groupon for Indulge and I thought I would try it because I work on MI and I like to support the local businesses. I think my experience would have been different if I was lucky enough to get Zarr or Tina for my stylist today, but I was not. I had a person who was just hired in October. I was shocked at the lack of personal attention that I received. After my color was put on, I was not told how long it would be. I was just left there in the chair. I noticed that my stylist was checking on another customer who was under the heat. I thought that was odd, and then I realized that she was doing both of our hair at the same time. That is so unprofessional to double book. After about a half an hour, I had to ask her when my color would be done because I seriously thought she wasn't keeping track of the time. She said "another 20-30 minutes". I couldn't believe it. I said that I have never had color process on my hair that long. She then had Zarr wash my hair for her. If I needed more time for the color to process like she said, then why did she have him wash it out? The reason is that I didn't. She needed time to take all of the foil pieces out of her other clients hair and then have time to dry and trim it. I was appalled at this kind of service. Double booking should never happen. There is no way to serve both people without having one or both clients wasting needless time. My guess is that she had no client booked before me, and a walk in came in. Either way it should never happen. It was a very unpleasant experience for me, which is just the opposite of what it should be. Kudos to Zarr for washing my hair and showing concern. read more

Great value for the price. I discovered the Salon through a Groupon deal. I have had shellac manicures at other Salons with similar deals, and this was the first deal that got me to come back as a repeat customer. The salon atmosphere just keeps getting better, and Julie educates me about nail care as she works. We can talk as much or as little as I'm in the mood for at the time.
