We did a gut remodel of our entire downstairs, the staircase and the upstairs landing with Lux. Sagi and his team were a pleasure to work with and made the process painless. Sagi is very communicative, patient and professional - he would talk through all issues with us and helped make crucial decisions. We had a designer and Sagi worked well with her (it was often the three of us collaborating and trading ideas). Sagi even joined us at showrooms to help pick certain fixtures, tiles, slabs etc. The subs (cabinetry, flooring, plumbing, wallpaper, audio etc.) were professional and did fantastic and very high quality work. Some may be more expensive than what is market but it was worth it to have peace of mind that we were getting quality work and Sagi would stand behind the work. Had a horrible experience with them three years ago with a kitchen remodel. Should've taken one month - didn't finish for three months. Blamed me for the inefficiencies with their workers. Incredibly sexist, misogynistic and condescending. They cut a water main that took out the water and power on my entire block for a night and ruined my hardwood floors, which had to be completely redone. Sagi's response: "well, these things happen." Inefficient, unskilled workers. Painters messed up the tile work, tile workers messed up the cabinets, cabinet workers messed up the painting. And so it went round and round. Original plans drawn up had to be redone because hanging lamps were designed to be put right in front of an opening cabinet door. A week after the project was finished, I had to call the gas company to come fix a gas leak in the stove, which was installed improperly. Whole project was a giant mess. Wouldn't go near these people again. read more

My wife and I just bought a home in Hermosa Beach, built in the '00's so it was in need of a update to make it our dream home. We had envisioned a white, beachy, airy home, and Sagi and his team made it come to life! We interviewed 5 contractors before starting our job, and it just felt right with Sagi. As we were deciding on which contractor to use, we could tell that Lux's work was going to meet our standards of being as perfect as we had wanted. When we let Sagi know that we were moving forward with him, he followed the timeline as expected. Throughout the demo/install, we were the ones that were falling behind on the decision making, and they were waiting on us to make final decisions on certain aspects of the project. We completely tore up our kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom. Along with replacing the floors throughout the house. We felt like we had some pretty crazy change orders, and we had always talked it out with Sagi and his team to get it the way we wanted. We paid for The A Team and got The F Troop! Sagi & Melvin took advantage of us by charging a small fortune and delivering shoddy work on everything the workers did on our house. Sagi always had an excuse for all that went wrong, with putting the blame on me. Saying that I'm being unreasonable with expectations. Well, when you pay a premium, I believe we ended up paying Sagi over $150,000.00, you would expect The A Team! Instead we got The F Troop! We have to now pay others to come back and fix things that Lux Builers did incorrectly. We did a bathroom remodel in 2020 and when we wanted to do our entire home, we didn't speak with anyone but Lux because we knew they type of workmanship they deliver. ========================================== It is hard to know where to begin to explain how pleased we are with the work Lux just completed for us. The house had a depressing old look and feel, but I had learned to ignore it, until I had a severe water leak. After fixing the leak I had to start looking for someone to fix the paint and damage from it. After getting several competitive quotes, I chose Lux Builders. Lux seemed very knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, and the price seemed very reasonable. Lux were willing to be flexible and catered to my abilities and needs. I was very very nervous, and I was afraid that by myself and with no help I would not be able to prepare the house and do what was needed, including taking decisions if something went wrong. Start day came quickly. I received instructions on how to prepare the first room, and I was told that the teams would help with emptying my closet and I should not be worried about it (what a relief). For two weeks that was the scenario: I would get instructions and I would do the easy preparations while the teams did the heavy lifting. After two weeks during which I and my boys were able to use the house with some limitations, I now have a completely new house! I have new paint all over including doors, cabinets, new handles, and knobs, new backsplash, new electric switches and outlets, new lighting features and a completely new refreshing and happy design look and feel. If I had known that the project would be such a worry free experience I would have done it few years ago. The three main elements that made it a pleasant, stress-free experience were: 1. Design plan that was exactly how I would want it. Lux Builders knew how to suggest ideas according to my taste and budget. 2. The work at the house was managed completely by Lux so I didn't have to worry about any issues while the work was performed. Sagi, Melvin, and their crew turned our outdated kitchen and living room in Ladera, into our DREAM home!!! We unfortunately share the same stories with others; paying an architect for work they never completed, experiencing major delays with a contractor and their crew, and/or disorganized bookkeeping and misquoting of fees. I found Lux Builders on Houzz and the pictures of their projects resembled the look we wanted to achieve with our own home. We met with Sagi a few times and he provided us with a detailed list of work, costs associated, and costs that would need to be covered outside of the project. We started the demo on December 11th, 2017 and it was such a great experience! *SCOPE OF WORK* -Approximately 1,000+ square feet for kitchen and living room and approximately 2,000 square feet of flooring. (Marble to wood flooring) -Demo, framing, and open up living room and kitchen -Turn pantry into half bath -Update front entrance and replace front door -Update lighting, HVAC, move laundry room *HIGHLIGHTS* 1. My husband and I are organized, efficient, and diligent and WE had to make sure we kept up with their requests once the project began! They work non-stop and the crews are so punctual!!! 2. Lux Builders requires all their workers to wear their Lux Builders t-shirt, which helps when you're a woman alone at the house project managing and the demo guys, plumbers, electricians, and rest of the crew are constantly in and out. 3. They keep your home as clean as possible during the project! We lived in the back half of the house, so we walked through a plastic zip tarp to get in and out of our bedroom. And once the wood floors were laid, the crew always removed their shoes before entering the house. 4. We decided to go with Lux to do a full gut and remodel of our kitchen which hadn't been changed since the house was built in the 1960's. We are very happy we did as Sagi and his team provided good service and great quality of work to leave us with a totally transformed kitchen space. Walked us through design choices and architectural plans. They offered their feedback and input when asked, but their goal in the process was to ensure we ultimately got what we wanted in the end and not just some things they are used to doing. Lux was always responsive, friendly, and helpful whenever we reached out to them. One area where we think they could have done better was communicating a bit earlier or a bit more clearly regarding the schedule of which teams would be showing up on which days on a day-to-day basis, but that is a small improvement that doesn't come close to knocking off a star. They were never unresponsive or unavailable. All of the Sagi's teams from the demo, flooring, painting, plumbing, etc.. were all on time, friendly, courteous, and did fantastic work true to the plans we put in place. It was a fantastic experience to work with them from planning to the final inspection. From the very first Zoom call, it was clear that Sagi was very professional and knew what he was talking about. Wow, I had a VERY complicated remodel and Sagi and his team at Lux Builders did such a fantastic job. I have recommended him to my friends and family, so I feel very comfortable awarding five stars on Yelp! My remodel needed HOA approval before it could begin, and that was one heck of a process. My condo is part of a historic landmark so the HOA is extremely strict about what you can and can't change. The approval process took five months and a lot of drawings and research. Mindy, who works with Sagi, came to my house a couple of times to take measurements. Mindy helped me tremendously by creating renderings and being incredibly responsive in getting me whatever paperwork or information I needed. Once I finally got approved, Sagi and his team started work. Very professional, extremely responsive (he texts back right away!), and honest. Five years ago, we had Lux Builders remodel 2 of our 1960's bathrooms. We had such a positive experience with the remodel, that we had them come back to do our kitchen that was also original to the build . We had new cabinets, countertops, tile and appliances installed. Hardwood floors replaced vinyl in the kitchen, the carpet in the living/dining room and on the stairs. Sagi Paul, the owner, pulls all permits and arranges for the inspections. He recommended places to go for flooring, tile and appliances, and because of his relationships with them, we were able to get supplies at a discount. He employs his own crew of painters, plumbers, electricians, tilers, and construction workers, so the project moves in a timely manner. The workers arrived everyday on time, and cleaned up before leaving. They take pride in their work and are true craftsmen. I hired Lux Builders to build an addition, that I call my Mancave. When the owner, Paul Sagi, came to my house, he laid out a detail plan for the build. I was very impressed with the breakdown for each step of the build. Throughout the build, Sagi's job foreman, made frequent stops to check on the job, the work force, and to answer any questions I had. After each work day, the contractors ensured that housekeeping was completed before they left the job. I was very impressed with the attention to job detail by the work force. Anytime I had a question for either the job foreman or to Sagi, they responded in a timely manner. I would not hesitate to call on Lux Builders when I'm ready for my next home project. Sagi and all his team at Lux Builders took our ugly condo to beautiful in 6+ months last year!  We had to contend with HOA approvals and the impact of Covid-19 but through it all, work continued and we are very happy with the end result.   Our decision to hire Lux Builders to complete our total renovation of our condo started with a phone call to set up an appointment for an estimate.  We had a few contractors in mind after reviewing Houzz and other websites.  Sagi, the owner, arrived promptly and went over what we wanted, took measurements, and provided feedback on our vision.  A few days later we received a contract.  We reviewed it and had questions and needed to make some additions and changes.  No problem. Lux was anxious to start the work but we then had to receive HOA approvals.  That took some time and patience from all of us! Sagi and his team at Lux worked fast in getting the permits, arranging for demolition, etc.  Mindy and Rachael, from Lux, were both wonderful in working with us to set up project logistics.   This was our first total renovation and like any remodeling project there are lots of materials to select and purchase! Our contract was very detailed about what was included and what was not. It was totally well laid out and explained. Sagi also takes you shopping at his contractor places and you get the benefit of immediate feedback on selections. You should have a good idea of what you like in advance! Lux provided some materials websites that supplied doors, molding, etc. which saved us money! There were some unanticipated plumbing problems and special window approvals that were complex and took time. Sagi and his team worked together with us to solve them. Anytime we had a question on something, Lux staff was easy to reach by text or phone.  Sagi was usually waiting for us on decisions for things to move forward. The only minor issue we had was with the molding. Sagi and his crew worked with us to make us satisfied. Lux Builders stands behind their work.  When we were at the final stages, literally, the cleaning crew was scheduled to come that week, the upstairs condo unit toilet leaked onto our brand new ceiling!  The owner fixed the leak, but the ceiling needed to be fixed.  Even though it was no fault of his, Sagi said no problem and fixed it and scheduled final cleaning crew for the following week! Let me start by saying Lux is terrific and we were lucky to have them for our project: going from a 2bed/1 bath with a garage to a 3 bed/2 bath and a 1 bed/1 bath ADU. Sagi, his core of 8 or so skilled workers, the sub-contractors, the office staff, all of them were just great to work with. We lived in our house while the work went on (which was hard, I don't recommend it if you can afford not to) and we saw these guys every day. They were always hard working and friendly, just a great bunch of guys. Before we met Sagi we thought the way things worked for a remodel like ours was you hire an architect, then the contractor. So we met with a few and they were all great, but they wanted a large percentage of our budget. Sagi said design and drawings were all part of Lux's process because they use an in-house architect. What we got was an innovative, functional design that, most importantly for us, kept the spirit and vibe of our 1942 Westchester home but brought it up to present-day standards. It all starts and ends with Sagi, he sets the tone for his company and that's a good thing because he is honest, very capable in his work, and a fun, soulful guy. Changes are going to happen and Sagi, who was on-site every day, managed them, explained them to us, and helped to find creative solutions. He shopped with us for tile and fixtures, and had a lot of recommendations for our many other purchases. The house is now done, thankfully, and it took just under a year to complete (Covid-19 didn't help the schedule). As I sit here writing this, I look around and see the before/after in my head and it's great. We cannot recommend Sagi and Lux highly enough, I hope you can book him for your project. read more

Sagi's rebuttal is false and misleading. Firstly, I never mentioned the quality of his work because we never got to that point, as he violated the agreement. I was merely sharing my experience in which he falsifies the truth and blames customers for his convenience. I "asked" if we could move the start date by a few days to avoid going over the Labor Day weekend. He said "Yes," without hesitation. He then called the following week and clearly stated that because he got a larger project (more $$$), he had to cancel my project. Then, when I reminded him that it would be a breach of contract, he started blaming me for changing the start date. If that was true, he would not have said yes when I "asked" and we would have started the job as agreed. If he had the decency to say that he got a larger project, which he cannot miss, and if he asked if mine could be delayed, then there would have been some communication. But lying like he did to get his way with no respect to people who only had a smaller job is what I called unethical. And rude. read more

Such a great experience through this whole process. I had no idea where to start or what exactly I even wanted other than a change and the whole crew took care of everything and made this whole remodel a breeze. Since the bathroom had so much water damage, they had to completely rebuild the wall. They finished the job faster than I expected so we were able to get back to normal. Lux builders did an excellent job of essentially rebuilding my house. They did everything from foundation, framing, plumbing, electrical, HV/AC, drywall, insulation, doors, windows, flooring, tiles, landscape, hardscape, roofing, fixtures and extras like a fountain and fire pits. Sagi has collected a group of skilled craftsmen who are hard-working and honest. Sagi listens to his clients. He responds promptly to messages, emails and phone calls. We had several new ideas, and some challenges, come up during the project and Sagi alway provided good options at a fair price. Sagi has a good eye for design. He goes the extra mile to make sure that his clients are satisfied. He operates on a level of trust and integrity.
