First time trying out Lux Nail Salon since my favorite place in Kakaako closed shop. As much as possible I'll try to see Ha and followed her to her current nail salon. I've been seeing her for some years now, her daughter Lily is working out of another nail salon in town and use to do my manicure/pedicure if her Mom was already booked. She has an eye for detail and will clean up your hands and feet like there's no tomorrow. Lux Nail Salon is pretty on the inside with a few other nail technicians that are also available. Several leather chairs for pedicures. It's a nice quiet atmosphere with comfortable air conditioning. Street metered parking all around the Kakaako area. I haven't quite figured out what would be the best day to visit Ha during her work week. But I'll be back again soon! read more

Came for the first time and it was a good experience... for my girly! Tiffany was amazing and did my homegirl so well. She was super nice and did her toes perfect. However, I got a random lady and she did not say her name when she asked who is getting Tiffany. She legit cut me right when she started with the sand bit taking off my old gel. No apology or anything. Already hella bad start. She was really rough with the cuticles too and then CUT ME AGAIN on the same foot. She also didn't make my Big nail toe even when she trimmed off the length. The vibe was professional and they were nice but next time I'll request for another lady. read more

I needed a last minute appointment to get my gel nails removed and a gel manicure. Lux Nail was able to me in on the day of. The salon is located in Ka'akako near Earl's. The salon seemed fairly clean and they took me in as soon I came in. The male who did my nails did a good job removing my previous gel and shaping my nails the way I like it. I decided to do a simple one color gel because I had to be somewhere at a certain time. Although the nails came out nice, I noticed they were kind of thin even though he did 2 coats. Delux pedi with gel polish is the service I got. I've been here twice so now writing the review. Both times were 10/10 both services HA did my pedis and she's amazing. Best massage, best polishing, professional, sweet, will request her each time. I've been to three nail salons on Oahu and this is my favorite and I'm glad I found it. I made an appointment and I arrived on time. They were busy and told me to take a seat. While I was waiting two other ladies came in separately and sat at the pedicure chairs. After waiting 40 minutes they started working on the two ladies. When I inquired about my appointment I was informed the other two women had appointments 1 hour before mine! I was desperate for a pedicure so I waited patiently. I would have given them a 1 star but the woman who did my pedicure gave the best calls massage I ever had. read more

One step at a time... Getting my pedicure was so fun and easy at Lux Nail Salon which is located in Kaka'ako right beside Earl and it was a place that I suggested since a friend really wanted hers done and between our shifts time was the biggest challenge and as we decided on a date I though that this location would be perfect as it's close to her work and getting it done wouldn't put a strain on getting there on time. This cozy salon was quite busy but did manage to take us all though strange enough left her to work on last which was a concern since she's the one that needed it done so we instructed the staff to do her first but what fun we all had sitting together and having fun choose our colors and getting a much needed foot massage as well. Prices here aren't that bad as pedicure starts from $35 or gel will be +$20 I did choose the basic while my friend chose the LUX Signature Pedicure at $60 with gel it's a long awaited treat for her as she looked so happy and self care does is important and is best to share along with your besties. This experience kind of broke my heart When I say I was super excited to come and check this little place out after walking around the neighborhood and seeing it a few times I mean it, it seemed intimate and was conveniently located but this place COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED me, specifically the lack of integrity from the front desk assistant/potential tech named Phoenix who instead of taking accountability for her poor quality work (please check pictures below of what I asked for vs what I got as well as the bonus picture I added to show what my nails looked like when I arrived) she chose to go the route of client blaming, and pretending I made her "uncomfortable" to get out of fixing my nails and taking accountability for her rushed work. I just want to at least warn people to be careful going to this place if you like quality service and like to be able to advocate for yourself without weaponized patience or the tables being turned on you. I'd like to mention Jessie (the alleged owner) seemed professional and like she had some care for the satisfaction of the clients when I called and she happened to be the person who answered the phone where I expressed that I wasn't satisfied with the result of my nails (that btw looked bad when I left and Phoenix knew I didn't like but in daylight they looked even worse) I am not sure why Phoenix (front desk assistant/possible tech) would call me back and go back on the offer I was just given by Jessie to come back and get them fixed other than her excuse that she "could tell by my voice I was upset and [she] was uncomfortable working on me" ...PLEASE & to be clear, yes ma'am, I absolutely did go back in there and get my refund. I'd like to point out my natural nails were long when I walked in here and Phoenix chopped them down extremely short despite what I explicitly asked for (like I literally had one of my nails the exact length I wanted for reference and asked her to just even the rest of them to the exact length of that nail, made it super easy for her but she was rushing the service and BOTCHED it) and to be clear I am not complaining about the color even though it's CLEARLY not what I asked for, I am complaining about the actual streaky rushed paint job not to mention the unclean nail shape etc. Anyways convenient isn't always a good idea, be careful Yelp Friends & Ohana. read more

It was my first time coming to Lux Nail Salon. It was quick and easy to make an appointment. Tiffany did my nails. She was very friendly regardless of what I have to say below. I love the quality of their GEL-X! I would just pay close attention to detail, there was a couple times I had to ask them to make minor fixes, such as dry glue build up on the side of my nails, or dust/ air bubbles in my polish. Also, I want to mention, they charge for cleaning up your cuticles. Never been to a place that charged extra for cleaning up the extra skin and cuticles around the nail. If I'm paying for a manicure, let alone a $80+ manicure, I would think it would be included in the service. Here's the price breakdown: Between my daughter and I we got; 1. basic/ gel pedicure. 1. Basic pedicure & a set of gel X nails with 2 gems ($3 per small gem), & polka dots (charged for design) I paid about $198 with tip. Parking was $12. The first hour is free.. only downside of going there is having to pay for parking in the HMART structure. Overall, I love my nails. One of the cutest sets I've ever done. read more

Luckily, the three of us got in without an appointment on a weekday afternoon! Located by H Mart, we found free street parking nearby. There are other metered stalls, so look carefully for those free ones! I didn't get the name of my technician, but she was efficient, strong, neat, professional, and quiet. I love coming to this nail salon because it's so close to work. I'd recommend calling ahead to make a reservation however I've also been able to walk in with no problem. I usually park at SALT and walk over. They always do a great job and the service is friendly and great quality! The pricing is very reasonable too, and they have a lot of colors to choose from. Love how you select the color based on their sample nails so that you can see exactly what it will look like once painted! read more

Out of all the salons that I've been to on the island, Lux nails is my absolute favorite place to get my nails done. The quality of their work and prices are unmatched! Krystal and Jessie are the BEST btw :) My cousin and I are always trying to book with them specifically because they are so good at what they do. They get our nails done in such a timely manner and they have never failed us. They always make us feel welcomed and that's why we always come back. I used to get acrylics before switching over to gel x and I've noticed a difference in my nail beds. They no longer feel or look fragile and they're probably in the best shape ever. They pay lots of attention to detail and are so talented. I usually get one color all the time and sometimes a design, but lately I've been doing catseyes and can I just say that Krystal is ALWAYS on point when it comes to nails. Would not recommend the girl who did my nails. I wish I would have caught her name, but didn't. She was a pretty, slight girl with her hair partly pulled up on top of her head. I was a walk-in with my daughter on Friday. This girl acted put -out that she had to do my nails. Said nothing. Would finish painting my nails and push my hand away to cure it under the light. I'm including two pictures of the job she did. I'm sorry I didn't see how bad they were until after I got out of the salon and into the light of day. Not happy! In response to your comments, I did not ask for, nor did I receive three coats of color. Also, she buffed off my old polish as these bumps are simply a glob of polish that she did not take the time to properly clear off my nail cause she couldn't be bothered and didn't care enough to do a good job. Soo I had a regular nail salon I went to for 4 years. I stopped ....started gel x here at LUX and have not looked back. The quality is incomparable. I was getting those ingrown nails and pain in my nails at the old place. Nope my nails are happy here fresh set every 3 weeks. They are always clean. The shop is small but the staff is amazing. If I could give zero stars, I would. I tried to give this salon the benefit of the doubt, but after going back months later, I should've learned my lesson. I never should've returned--or gone in the first place. The pedicure I received was absolutely terrible, and I can't believe I actually paid for it. After leaving a negative review on Google, the owner responded with a vague message asking me to call. Let me be clear, I expect a refund for the awful service I paid for. Anything less is just unacceptable. It's honestly robbery what they're doing to the community with their poor service, especially in a place like Hawaii where people expect quality. Save your money and your time--there are far better salons out there that actually care about their clients. read more

I've been wanting to try this place out as it is near to my apartment and would be very convenient for me (only reason i gave a star). She did not ask the usual question about cutting down my nails and just went for broke. And she even cut me a couple of times without so much as a sorry. As soon as she put my feet in the paraffin bags, she grabbed the lotion and settled in to start the massage that came with the package of service I paid for. Some woman comes in without an appointment for a wax and the nail lady stands up without saying a word to me and goes to do the wax. I waited about 20 mins for her to return (may have been longer, but it was exactly 17 mins from the time I remembered to clock it) and when she finally returns, I asked her what was that about, she tells me she was waiting for the paraffin to get hard. I advised her that it doesn't take that long and that it was not my first time to get that type of service. She doesn't apologize and says "I will finish now". Of course the 2 girls that were also getting mani and pedi respectively looked at me. But guess what, because of the delay in my service, they left a good 10 mins before me even though I started before them. I may just be one customer to them and a new customer at that, but had I received the service I paid for I would have brought back my friends and referred them to Lux nails as well. I'm bummed as it would be very convenient for me, but I guess not! read more

Jessie is amazing! CONSISTENT QUALITY WORK EVERY SINGLE TIME. Out of convenience, I wanted to find a nail salon that was close to home and work (I live in Ewa Beach). Found a salon, Jessie was my nail tech that day, and I've been requesting for her ever since. She's always been very patient, very attentive, and I never feel rushed or brushed off. Although she can do everything, I always get a basic gel mani and pedi which I assumed all nail techs would do a great job. That was not the case when I learned Jessie left that nail salon and opened up her own business in town (very opposite of where I live). I struggled finding a slaon and nail tech that lived up to Jessie's standards. For something I thought was so basic, was not for the 3 other different places I tried out. My nails would always look bumpy, my manicure wouldn't be clean or wouldn't last as long, and the shaping was not consistent. One time the nail length on one hand was totally different from the other. And another time, even though I pointed out a few times that it was crooked, I ended up going home to re-shape my nails myself. I got my nails done somewhere else about a week ago and it was already looking bad. I'm going on a quick trip and I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding coming up a week from now so I knew I had to find Jessie. I called the old Salon knowing she wasn't working there anymore and they let me know she opened up her own business. They said it was in town and dropped the name "luxury." And so I went scowering Google, IG, and Yelp looking up nail places with the name luxury. Stumbled upon Jessie's name in one of the yelp reviews and I was so so happy I found her!!! I don't know how Jessie does it, but with her my nails are always shaped and painted perfectly and my mani and pedi always last a long time. I never have to worry or double check while I am in her chair. I let her do her thing while I watch a movie/show and get to relax and disconnect from busy life. Had a great experience at my favorite neighborhood nail salon! The new owners remodeled the interior and did other cosmetic changes to the exterior. I was able to easily make an appointment for a gel manicure and when I was running late, they were able to push my appt to a later time with no issues. Jasmine was my nail artist and she is extremely kind! I definitely vibed with her and am pleased with her work. She is extremely detail-oriented and takes pride in her tasks. All together, my gel manicure (with a hand massage) was $40 which is very fair pricing. Will definitely return! read more

Positive: Walk-ins are welcome, staff always wearing masks, prices are decent, the staff is polite, and they have massage chairs :) Negative: I'm not entirely sure if they disinfect their tools between each customer. I've been to some places where they have them in a sterilized bag and they open the bag right in front of me. But here, they just had them out in the open. I won't jump to conclusions but I'm very observant. I know for sure they use the same buffer to remove calluses and that made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The reason why I keep coming back: It's within walking distance from my place, prices are reasonable, they do a nice job, and I only get pedicures every couple of months. read more

I've been here a few times and have enjoyed my experience every time. I've had a hard time really liking a nail salon but this one I've only needed two times being at the salon for me to really solidify liking the people and service provided. This particular time, I brought my sister and mom along with me! John and Jasmine and their family are always so nice and provided amazing service. The other nail techs will come around if theyre done with their client and will compliment your nails! I got acrylics, my sister got the dip nail polish, and our mom got gel nails. We are all so happy with the result! All the nail techs are so nice and friendly, and it's easy to keep conversation with them! I 10/10 recommend and if you need help picking a design or nail color, they'll give you many recommendations to choose from. On this particular occasion, I asked my nail tech, John, if he could do a design I found online and he did a good job at replicating it. Oh I LOVE it here! When I am able to, I come to this Nail Salon! Very friendly workers like Vee! She has been doing my nails from the start! Very funny, professional and has great input on my next manicure! She listens to your ideas and requests and her finished product always is AWESOME! Go and see Vee, she is the BEST there is! Had a 2:00pm appointment. Had to wait almost 15 minutes because they were running late on a previous client and only 3 pedi chairs available... small space. Finally, got seated and had the deluxe pedicure for both of us $45 ea. For me, Everything was ok, my nails were alright. The wifey asked my technician to be firm for my massage and she just did it medium-light. Don't know if she didn't hear her or maybe it's a language barrier but that needs improvement. The wifey was disappointed at the end results for her pedicure. Her toe nails were cut crooked and the polish didn't cover the entire nail(s). She did bring it up to the male tech, but he said that's the way her toe nails grew and thats why he cut it angled...The other tech said he didn't want to put polish to close to the skin to prevent it from coming off too maturely when taking a shower...not true. Funny, everywhere else cut straight and painted the polish nicer. The wifey did mention that his massage was a little too strong and told him to ease back but was overall good. There were only 3 techs working, nice people and answered all our questions, but seems they need to still improve. read more
