Call for an appointment early. Made 3 appointments for a girls day relaxation. First time here. Nice interior very calming and comfortable. We were welcomed and asked to wash our hands before our nail appointment began. Everything was very clean and comfortable. I waited for a little while as I was having a pedicure. I chose my color and then my appointment began. Sarah was very nice asked me before she began what shape I wanted for my toe nails. My mom and sister also enjoyed their nail appointments. I've been going to Salon Glitter back in the Keeaumoku location which I do love but are one of many tenants forced out to developing condos is sad but is the "something happens for a reason" underlying is meant to be as it was painfully small and dated a move to there new location selected was in the A'ali'i at Ward Village is a stunning refreshing vibrant place that brings out the bougie glitter we know they've been giving us. Reservation is a must and will be impossible to get that service you desire and instead of calling I stopped by as I'd rather ask and show my situation with my nails as they are in horrible shape and need help badly and got my time slot at the perfect time. I already knew exactly what I wanted is a manicure...gel with fade *Grin!* with the intention of something light purple turned out to be a glittery opalescent rose gold pinkish and yes a couple of my nails weren't in great shape so gel extension was necessary and surprisingly was an easy fix. What I do also love is they have monthly special for both manicure and pedicures which is a preset design but is stunningly affordable and you need to follow them on Instagram @walea.salonglitter Parking is the massive positive as you can park right in the building as you enter straight is obvious for residents only as it's gated, on the right are for residents guests and to the left is for retail parking. No tickets...no validation just park. You can also park in the Whole Foods building and at Ward Entertainment as well the possibility is incredible as in a strange turn moving out due to development moved into a developing community but I couldn't be happier at this current location. I love getting my pedicures done here! Their fun and cute monthly special designs are one of my favorite things about this salon. I'm not a very creative person when it comes to nail art, so I always get excited whenever they post their new monthly specials! They specialize in Japanese gel, and their work is always high-quality. The salon itself is super clean, modern, and well-maintained. I also love how close it is to my house, the area is safe, easy to walk to, and very convenient. For the most part, I've had really great technicians. Chloe and Maria are both amazing, super sweet, and very skilled at what they do. There was one rude employee I had a bad experience with, but the salon was very accommodating when I requested not to be scheduled with her. The management team handled the issue quickly and professionally and has ensured I don't run into that situation again. Despite that one negative encounter, my overall experiences here have been great, and I will continue to come back! This place does not give you the full service when doing your nails/toes. Each and every item on the menu (which should be included) is a separate charge. Separate charge to remove your gel polish, separate charge to massage your legs/feet during a pedicure, separate charge for callus care, so on and so forth. The prices are outrageous for them to just soak your hands/feet cut your nails and slap on the gel. Plus, they have this Korean gel that goes on as it drips off a brush, not painted. This leaves ridges in your nails (after application) that look like moon craters. Go a couple miles down to Moana nails where you will get fantastic service and the above mentioned are all included. read more

Dirty tools, reused files, bad manicure -- and zero apology Absolutely the worst salon experience I've ever had -- and one of the most unhygienic. I spent 2.5 hours getting a manicure that turned out thick, uneven, painful, and completely unprofessional. The nails were crooked, bulky, and messy -- something no licensed technician should ever consider acceptable. When I asked for a correction, the supervisor stepped in. Instead of properly redoing the full set, she just covered up a few nails, which caused me even more pain. I told her I was tired and uncomfortable after sitting there for hours, yet she didn't apologize even once. Instead, she said I was "too demanding" and that they wouldn't take me as a client again. That's how this place handles their own mistakes -- by blaming the customer. What's even worse is the lack of hygiene. The tools were visibly dirty, and the gels were smeared and covered in residue. They used non-disposable files that looked like they had been used on other clients. There was no sign of sterilization -- the tools were not sealed in sterile pouches, which is a basic hygiene standard in any professional salon. I took photos showing exactly how unsanitary everything looked. No apology, no accountability, no proper sanitation -- just rudeness, pain, and a terrible result. If you care about your health, hygiene, or even basic respect as a client, do not go to this salon. They clearly don't value cleanliness, professionalism, or customer safety. read more

I recently moved to town from the west side and have been desperately trying to find a new salon. Walea was the 5th salon I have tried and needless to say, I've found my go to salon in town. They're definitely a premium priced salon (the most I have spent on a mani/pedi ever approx $150+tip each time) however, the service, the quality of product and their work, and the ambience is worth every penny. I always get a basic gel manicure and pedicure no matter where I go, I always knew that I had roughly one week of wear before the color begins to look dull, eventually chip, and break a nail. However, since I started getting my nails done here, my nails have never been healthier. I have been able to grow out my natural nails healthily and maintain a mani/pedi for 3+ weeks before my next refill. read more

It's been one week and one nail is lifting already. My appointment started 40 minutes after my appointment time. I called ahead asking if it was ok that I was running late (10 minutes max) due to an accident on the freeway and was told it would be ok. I got there 9 minutes after my appointment time and was quickly checked in and seated. I then sat there for another 30 minutes before someone came to "start" on my nails. Then another nail tech would come finish the design . I didn't think 9 minutes would throw off my appointment time by another 30 minutes. They never said I would have to wait longer. Actually no one said anything until after waiting 30 minutes. The receptionist apologized then proceeded to ask if I wanted to add a pedicure for 15% off. I was confused and politely declined as my appointment was already late and I came for nails and didn't want to spend more time and money there. My nails took 2 hours and came out ok. Design was nice on most nails. The shape was not what I wanted and the length was uneven. I guess they were rushing because they also cut my finger. One nail is already lifting after one week. Sad after spending all that money. One week! I should have left but I felt I needed to give this place a try. Not worth it in my opinion. I spent a lot of money here and almost 3 hours of my time for one nail to lift after a week. Nail techs were very nice so I gave them one star. read more

I love the aesthetics and vibe of this place! Probably the first nail salon that I've been to that's very modern and fancy. On the pricey side tho but I think they deliver quality work. I get my gel mani and pedi done here. I love the Japanese quality design manicure they provide. They're very creative and I feel like they can do whatever design you show them. It also last a while! That's why I keep coming back to them for my mani! I also love that they monthly specials for nail designs so you save some $ if you choose that. Been going here the past 3 manicures and nothing but good things to say. I love this place because I have eczema on my hands. Other places that I went to get a manicure, I would always break out. When I go here, I have yet to break out. Although it could also be that I'm more careful but even the first time I went here, no reaction. So I'll keep coming back because of how careful they are. I've been trying Chrome and magnet and I loved them both. But, I've been told to snag an appointment months ahead because they get busy! I've been going with 2 friends and we usually can't get all three of us at the same time. Given, we try to get an appointment a week or so ahead of time. I'd say that's pretty good that they can get us in a close amount of time. Congratulations to Laureen, Yuko, and the Salon Glitter staff for the opening of their new nail salon and massage spa! Located in A'ali'i by Ward (next to businesses such as Club Pilates), it is beautiful with lots of stations for manicures and several pedicure stations. I normally see the manager Laureen, but I'm not sure if she is taking new clients. So, depending on what you are looking for, their staff is well-trained and the more seasoned staff can do the more intricate designs. The massage rooms are in the back. I had a 60-minute deep tissue massage with Keiko and it was amazing. She got into the knots in my shoulders and tight muscles. Cheers to Walea at Salon Glitter near Ward. Been here twice so far and will definitely be coming back. They only take appointments by phone and book time slots based on how detailed/difficult the design will be. (Apparently they only book by phone because they found that people that book online or by DM are less likely to show up for appointments, so will be forced to make a phone call). They are located on Sheridan street just behind the 808 center and have a small parking lot. Let me tell you these women are artists. Both times I came in with pictures from Pinterest for what I'd like to do with my nails and both times left with almost exact replicas. I'm so happy that my friend introduced me to this place. If you really want to see what they can do I recommend checking out their Instagram where they post everything from classic chic to cartoon versions of BTS and everything in between. I am writing this review on behalf of my sister who had an appointment scheduled yesterday (2/13) at 3:15pm. When she was checked in, it took her 30-45 minutes to be seen by her scheduled nail tech despite being on their calendar. And even worse, she had 3 other nail techs in the salon trying to help my sister before her seeing her ACTUAL nail tech. How confusing!!! To add a note, my sister was NOT contacted prior by her nail tech that she is running behind schedule. Now, this would not have been such a big issue if my sisters' nails came out beautifully and if the service was excellent. But the final results were horrible and my sister was too nice to be up front about it (& she is ashamed to upload the picture). Her appointment was scheduled as "gel + magnetic", but truth be told, my sisters' nails do not look like gel but regular polish. My sister also told me she felt like she was being rushed at the appointment.. What a mess! I am guessing that the salon & her nail tech was aware of the horrible situation that my sister was put through yesterday, so she was offered a free repair within 7 days at the end of her service. Okay cool. But since my sister is leaving on a trip today, she cannot take the offer. Honestly, I feel like she wasted her money here.. A word of advice to the salon: If you cannot follow a schedule, don't confirm the time with a customer. Also, if a customer wants to leave because YOU are not on schedule, then please let them leave. If my sister left because she wasn't being attended to properly, maybe I wouldn't have left this review. Please do better, especially if you are located in such a nice location.. As a nail girly, I've been coming to Walea by Salon Glitter religiously since they opened their new Ward Village location, and I can say wholeheartedly this is the BEST nail salon in all of Hawaii. Their beautifully designed space has top of the line stations, and all their technicians use the highest quality of Japanese gel and equipment. Everyone is so warm and welcoming and the service is wonderful with every visit. These ladies are so incredibly talented with the services and care they provide. I've never had more gorgeous sets of nails than from this spot. You absolutely get what you pay for which is premium services. I regularly see Erika for my manicures and Amy for my pedicures and they both do an extraordinary job. I guarantee you can't go wrong with seeing anyone who works here. I don't get why this place has so many good reviews. I got a pedicure with gel removal and application and paid $80. They didn't even massage my feet or apply a hot towel like most other salons do FOR HALF THE PRICE. I knew going into it that a massage and callus removal cost extra (a ridiculous amount also), but if the base cost is already that much, I expected a higher quality experience. And idk, maybe a glass of champagne and chocolates??? should've just done my toes at home myself. Also, for a salon that looks so nice, they don't even have massage chairs. The only good thing was that the girl who did my pedicure didn't seem to be rushing and took her time. But, still not worth the price AT ALL. Go somewhere else with your money. read more

I understand it's a nicer/premium style of nail services being done at this salon but $76 (not including tip) for gel removal and gel pedi with no feet care or scrub/massage lol am I missing something? They did a good job with shaping and cuticle removal but that's it. I don't think I'll come back but I'm glad I tried it out. Edit: I didn't realize until I took a closer look but the shaping is wonky. I have been coming to Salon Glitter for at least 4 years now--and it's safe to say I'm a loyal customer! I regularly see Lani, but I've had other technicians who do a great job also! They do everything from hand-painted designs, marbling, gems, and magnet glitter to more simple gel nails. The salon uses quality products and the attention to detail that they take is unmatched. They check to ensure they are doing exactly what you want, down to the shape and length of your nails. Note these are Japanese gel nails, they aren't super thick, and they last me through to my next appointment (I usually do 5-6 weeks). It's helpful if you have a picture (peep their IG!) they can reference so they know what you're going for. I've always been blown away how the technicians can make any idea come to life! I recently visited Walea to take advantage of their "10% off massage therapy & pedicure combo". The pedicure was top notch, I couldn't recommend it more. The only thing they could improve is to offer more colors for non-gel pedicures. I'd give the experience 5 stars if my review was just based on the pedicure. The 90 min massage left much to be desired. The therapist was very sweet & I hesitate to malign her skills. But pressure was inconsistent, and there was an inordinate amount of time spent massaging my scalp, which I didn't ask for. I did ask for attention to my neck and upper back which she did provide. I've found that Japanese Gel lasts much longer and was in search for a spot to get my nails done before heading to the mainland. I came in and took advantage of the yelp deal. They have four preset patterns that you can get for a discounted rate (I think it was $40 or $50). Definitely worth it if you don't have an exact idea of what you want in mind. While I loved the design and the style, it barely made it to two weeks. The edges weren't sealed well so my nails started to crack at the tips and they quickly began breaking off. With Japanese gel, I'm used to having to tear them off a month and a half later, so this was definitely a disappointment. read more

BUT........,this was My FIRST And Last time here... made appointment for 2 Pedicures.. and appointment was at 3:15 My husband and I got there at 3:00 and the place is small They have 4 pedicure stations maybe 5, and the one that was " for couples was being used, they apologized and said it would be 15 minutes. They started with my husband @3:09 sitting with our me... 45 minutes later they sat me on another station. I couldn't even talk to my husband.. very poor planning knowing you had a 3:15! Why would you occupied the station.. poor management. And talk about the temperature in that place it was HOT,i asked Maria if I could use the small fan that was sitting on my station. Come to find out the AC was off. Prices. Don't get me started. I also expect some champagne or wine.., but I guess you should read the website. I just visited there. Had an appointment but was a little bit late because the girl front did not even know how to explain where I can park. So I had to park wholefood and walked. Called a couple times where it is located; confused. They refused my service due to late. I get it. The girl who did my pedicure did not even show me the color sample, "choose the color" I could not even know where I should have looked at. The customer next me got the color sample board(?). They thought I was going to do normal pedicure. I told them I am going to gel pedi; then the boss lady came to me and gave me expensive price(gel removal $18) and plus pedi (not even include any spa) price. It was unpleasant experince, terrible service, just made the store nice, gave them enougbt tips because I am not goiing back to them. Terrible terrible experince spending my money. read more
