The first time I stopped by, I made an appointment online but I guess you're supposed to get a follow up message before your appointment is confirmed. I showed up and the time had been double booked so I ended up leaving. Cordelia texted me not long after to tell me she had an opening the following day and apologized about the mix up. I told her that was fine and rescheduled. She ended up pushing my appointment back an hour but still managed to fit me in. I showed her two inspiration photos and wanted to merge them, and Cordelia did exactly that. I'm super happy with the outcome. It took 2 hours and they normally don't do foreign fill but she was able to help me out, I definitely want to go back. She took her time and was a pleasure to converse with. Graduation season! I'm graduating this year (WHOO congratulations to class of 2022!), completing one of the biggest milestone in my life! So I decided to pamper myself on my nails for the very first time ever (nail virgin). My friends also wanted to join in on this as we were all going on a trip together too! It's located in the second floor in the building behind/next to Pali Longs Drugs and Safeway. There's a huge sign that is hard to miss! There's a small parking lot with some stalls up front in the open (not covered). Since this is my first time getting my nails done, I'm a huge noob. I asked around what styles were better, what certain things are, etc. Luckily, my friend group was very knowledge in this! I decided on a soft gel extension with gel nail polish and nail art. I spoke with the owner, Helen, about different inspos and actually had Joanne who worked on my nails. The final product was beautiful (peep the pic with cat design)! Joanne did an amazing job on my nails! She consistently asked me for my input on the work before continuing on and making sure I get what I wanted. Love the work! The session took about 2.5 hours, longer than I imagined but was warned by Helen beforehand. Nice to have that info! My friends came in for a gel mani-pedi. They enjoyed their "spa" and loved the work done on their nails. Helen and Cordelia worked on their nails. The technicians at this nail salon are all very friendly and precise about the work they do! You won't be disappointed at the end of your appointment as the results are amazing. The pricing ain't too bad either. Will be back if I ever need another pampering day! P.S. Disappointing is all I can really say about my experience at Originail. The people were nice, but the place and skill was lacking. They added 2 stations downstairs in the eyelash area that was very very dirty, unorganized and very depressing painted in dark grey. Even though I booked a week in advance they seemed surprised that I was there and gave me the eye lash technician to do my new full set of gel x. After quite a long appointment of just gluing on nails and filing, two nails were crooked, and even after asking multiple times she never made my nails rounded (I reshaped them after I got home). It took 4 coats of gel polish that I can still see thru which is not what I wanted. She also did a 3-d flower on each hand that I am not happy with. I paid $85 plus tip for the service (which was my birthday present to myself) and I am sorry I went. I will not be returning and instead will go back to Lux Nails in Kaka'ako where I feel pampered and special and where it is clean! read more

But thankfully I found Tiffany on Instagram & she had a new client special going on for a full gel x set & get 5 charms free! I saw that she had Sanrio charms & I booked with her immediately!! It's so hard to find a cute salon in Town that's not ghetto lol but Originail is the cutest little salon located in Pali behind Asato Family Shop. They have their own little parking lot for their customers as well. Don't forget to use their restroom to see the most Kawaii Sanrio wall, perfect for selfies! I booked with Nail Tech Tiffany & she is the sweetest ever! In fact, all the girls here are so sweet & welcoming. Tiffany was very patient with me, we tried to do one design but I ended up not liking it so we started over & tried something else. Amazing experience. I new a new set would take a while but oooh so worth it. I love when you get what you ask for. I messaged Helen on Yelp to make my appointment. I told her what I wanted after scrolling through all of the yelp photos. She even asked if I could send a picture of the design I wanted. I got a quote before my appointment. How professional is that. The salon is very cute and neat. There's lots of polish choices. There was only one other customer being serviced so it was a bit quiet and intimate. We had friendly conversation and I found Helen to be very down to earth and relatable. She was very meticulous and did an excellent job with not only building my nails as soft gel is a tedious form of nail but also with the art work/design. i did give her a difficult design with perfect lines being required. She amazingly accomplished it free handed, no stencils or nothing. It was nice to see an artist perform so craftsmanship. It's been a hot minute since the last time I got a manipedi...I got this recommendation from my sister, and I couldn't be more pleased. These ladies work hard and are so sweet. I came in for a basic pedicure, clear polish, and a simple nail art design for a soft gel extension gel manicure. They checked every step of the services to check if I was comfortable and made sure everything was to my liking. I don't get my nails done often, and I like to take my time when searching for a new salon to try. I saw Originail on instagram first and was impressed by the art and the good reviews, so I booked a classic mani pedi just to see how I'd like the store, technicians, etc. I opted for normal nail polish rather than gel because I wanted something simple. The pedicure was ok, but I noticed I had a lot of skin still left on my toes but just decided to ignore it thinking maybe there's an up charge for a more detailed pedicure. At this point an hour has passed so I asked my technician how long she'd estimate my nails to take, which she replied only 30 minutes. That 30 minutes turned into 90. Someone was also waiting behind me, and decided to leave after waiting about 30 minutes. The polish is weirdly thick, which she also noticed and asked another technician for paint thinner after already painting both feet and one hand. The final look was just not what I had pictured, but I'm not confrontational so I just bit my tongue and thought of how I'm gonna fix this at home. Now writing this, 2 hours later, the polish still hasn't dried and is so thick that it's being indented. I'll have to remove it. I don't think I'll be returning, especially after sitting for so long watching an intense and graphic movie they had playing in the store, would've preferred some music. read more

I want to preface this with you should make your appointment with Helen I came in at 10, but no one showed up until 11 am. My pedicure was phenomenal My fill not so much, I had a new girl working on my nails which I can understand, but I sat there for 4 hours while she was learning and trying to do my nails. During that time, someone came in with an appointment with Helen for a pedicure, got designs on her nails, and was out of there in 45 minutes. I ended up having to leave without my nails being finished because I had wasted my entire day, and didn't even get what I was asking for. The owner gave me 20% off since they didn't finish. But honestly if I could go back, instead of trying to give a new nail shop a chance, I'll just drive to the other side of the island to get my nails done with my old nail lady. The only reason I tried this place out is because we are moving off the island and are staying in Honolulu. The next day I ended up having to go to my original nail lady to get my full set redone. Save your money and time and just stick with your original nail lady. read more

HOWEVER, Originail has raised my standards, to the point of writing a Yelp review. Please don't underestimate this new, small business. You can tell the owner, Helen, has put a lot of thought and effort into decorating the shop. The technicians, one was a wax'er (only word i can think of lol) and Cordelia did an amazing job, going into details of the nail art. It's been over a year since I went to a salon to do my nails. I heard about Originail from a mutual friend, and I wanted to give it a try since the holidays are coming up. She was very easy to talk to, and the quality of her work is great! Getting my nails done is my form of self-care. However, I have only done my own nails for years with lacquer polish. When my friend told me about Originail, I thought maybe it was finally time that I have my nails professionally done in someone else's hands. Located in Downtown Honolulu, Originail is a cute, quiet, and clean place in such a very convenient location. The nail technicians greet you upon entry and there is a designated place for you to wait for your service. I had Cordelia as my nail technician and I was very impressed with how very detail orientated and and very accommodating she is with my design. I had gel extensions and showed her my nail inspiration that I found on Instagram, and I have to say that I LOVE how she went above and beyond with my nails to the point that her rendition of my nail inspo was so much better than what I have brought in. One thing that really impressed me about Originail is how they care about their clients. There was never a point during the service where I felt uncomfortable. I appreciate how Cordelia and the other nail technicians are very open with communication. Whenever I noticed there was an imperfection, I was able to share my concerns and she was able to quickly fix it on the spot. I also appreciate how she asked me for my opinions on specific things or suggestions with my design before she proceeded deeper into the service, which I think is the pinnacle of great customer service. Plus, they offer to have them charge your phone while you get your nails done. How great is that? Overall, I highly recommend Originail to anyone that is looking to get their nails done. The worst pedicure I've ever gotten. I noticed that when the technician was working on my cuticles, she was holding the tools weirdly. She was also going so lightly with everything, I didn't feel like she was actually cleaning anything. When it came time to paint my nails, she never grabbed my toes so that she could really see what she was doing. She was also holding the nail polish brush with two fingers which also looked odd. When she was done, the coats didn't cover my whole nail - the area near the cuticle wasn't painted. I also noticed that they use a brand of nail polish I've never seen before. Despite her doing 2 coats, you could still see through to the nail - like it needed a third coat. read more

Brought my daughter (5) here for a mani pedi day. They have pricings for children under 12. We were able to set up appointment online, it was so convenient! Later on we added another person to the appointment and the owner (Helen) was VERY accommodating! She was very honest about staffing and tried to work it out so that we wouldn't have to wait as she had an appointment that would overlap our time. When we got there, it is super clean, brightly light, cozy. Parking is a little tough as there is not a lot of customer stalls but the attendant was very nice and let me park in one of the tenant stalls! Service was GREAT! My daughter ENJOYED every single second of it and the girls were super gentle to her and talked story with her. The staff is young and friendly. My tech let my son soak his feet in the water with me while I was getting a pedi and when he would copy me & lift my foot up, she would pretend to work on his foot too. They were so nice!!
