I'm in town for a couple of weeks and I needed my feet done since I didn't have time before I left. Stopped in for a pedicure and gel nails. I submitted to the upsell by Sue (glad I did) and got their luxury package, and I was very happy that I did. The care to my feet and the massage was worth it, left me very relaxed, Sue knows how to massage the tension from your feel & legs! I also got a arm and hand massage due to some extra time I had on hand, and again very much worth it. Space is pleasant, equipment used is new/sanitary. The massage chairs, which are typical in nail salons, have a little bit to be desired (though I am spoiled because I have a better one of my own)...the first chair I sat in wasn't working but Sue very nicely moved me to the next chair. I was lucky enough to catch her on a day where another customer had canceled. She's very busy, as she is a popular nail artist in Honolulu. Be sure to schedule ahead of time with her. Each time I have had my gel nails done by her they last forever. By that I mean the quality of gel itself, design and color completely stay intact. This review is WAAAAAAY PAST DUE for how long I've been seeing Yoshino (almost 2 years now, and I've been doing my nails since 06? you name it, pedis, manis, acrylic, cal gel, gelish) for my nails, and the quality of service she gives. Honestly, it was hard for me to write this because there are so many things i want to say without this turning into a novel. Let's get straight to the point about a few things that I think are important: - MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. She's a one woman show, who gets booked fast. I sometimes book a MONTH in advance, if I know I have a specific event coming up, or.. I know my feet will be ratchet by then. - PARKING. I'm gonna admit, I'm not a fan of the parking situation.. BUT the salon (SANCTUARY SALON) located near a residential area where there is A LOT of parking so it's only a few minute walk away. And come on now, who doesn't need a little exercise in their life (; I'd walk 7 minutes for you YOSHINOsan! - QUALITY. Yoshino gives HIGH QUALITY work whether it's a basic pedi, mani, full set, and full bling. If you can, try to specify what kind of services you are wanting to do so she can book out the time accordingly (e.g. pedi and mani, gel removal, nail art), you can even ask her how long and she could probably give you an approx time, so you can plan your day. SIDENOTE: I use my feet A LOT. so instead of just a basic pedi, i go all out with the gel and although it costs a little more, it lasts a long time. if you're gonna take the time to get your nails done, at least get them done right the first time and have them last longer than just the basic. - COMFORT. I should've made this #1 on my list, but I'm too lazy to edit. Yoshino makes me feel comfortable. Granted she's the only person in the "working area" I don't feel she is judging my nasty feet, and the fact I'm here ONLY to get a pedicure (which I've felt in other salons). Yoshino is super sweet and after I showed her a Pinterest picture, she made my nails look even better than the photo :) She is very detailed and took the time to make my gel nails a little thicker so they last longer. It probably took about an hr or so to finish my nails. Starting price for gel is $45 and with my full design came out to $70 without tip. So worth it! I called yesterday and she kindly squeezed me in today. She has a section in a salon so she can only take one client at a time, that's why it's appointment only. The salon was clean, as was Yoshino's station, and since my appointment was at 5:30pm it wasn't noisy or anything in there. For parking, there's a gas station to the right of the First Hawaiian parking lot. Turn in there and behind the building to the left of the gas station, there are reserved spots for the salon. Manicure is what my daughter and I came in for. My daughter got the acrylic set with designs. Since we both had Gel nail polishes already, that took a little more time than expected to remove, given, 1 lady shop. Her acrylic she uses is the powder type, not the preshape glue on nails types like most Nail salon uses. She molds and shape the way you want it. So actually it doesn't look like acrylic nails. Anyways we had found designs on pinterest and texted it to her so she can try replicate it. I'm very satisfied with results and service, but why I didnt give this 5 stars? Well in the mist of things and the pressure of her needing to be somewhere after our appointment, she forgotten to do the basic manicure, you know the clean up, like removal of cuticles, softening skin etc. I kind of expect it. I came in wanting to do something crazy and fun and we ended up doing a Hawaiian rainbow mani pedi in gel. As others have mentioned, she does not rush, and does not use techniques that damage your nails. Removing previous gel was not done with any harsh sanding device, but rather patiently by coating fingernails with tissue dipped in acetone.
