Christine Carver at Lux Salon is a hair genius. I decided to make a drastic color change that only a very few colorists could pull off. Not only did Christine make my har look amazing, she gave it a 110% effort and came in on her day off so she could focus on my hair. Everyone raved about it - and I have never looked better. Found my salon! I have long hair. I've been what I (politically incorrectly-noted) call "scalped" a couple of times, which has led to a life-long near phobia about going to a new hairdresser. Unfortunately for my condition, I've also moved a lot. Just came to the Hendersonville area and by sheer luck found Allison at Lux. She did what I asked and cut off a minimal amount of hair, and I left with looking gorgeous (well, at least my hair was!). As an aside...I have neck problems and dread having my hair washed at salons because of the awkward way that the sink edge usually rests on the back of my head- its painful! Lux has chairs that lie back so your head is not resting on that "lip" of the sink. No pain at all. Every place should have these chairs. read more

I never got an appointment because of the rude receptionist, Mary. We live in Georgia but we are here temporarily for my husbands job and since we got here I've had a hard time finding someone who can correctly cut and color hair. I searched online and found this salon and thought I'd try it. Called to make an appointment and after answering all her questions for my "hair interview" she done over the phone she told me it would be a minimum of 4hrs and stressed it could be longer and I was absolutely fine with that and waited on her to put my info in for an appt. As I'm waiting I mentioned that usually I'm a 3hr appt for cut and full head of highlights, one.... so they would know that it may not take half of a day to do my shoulder length hair and two....so that maybe if I'm only a 3hr appt I could get in sooner for an appt. Well that pissed old Mary off! She snapped very rudely at me "I'm telling you right now, I will not book this appointment if you're going to start this up! If you can't afford us maybe you should look elsewhere to get your hair done if this isn't in your budget".....this went on and on and on and after she finally stopped to take a breath and I had heard the word budget about 5 or 6 times out of her smartass mouth I had heard enough! I have never in my life had a business talk to me like that especially a backwoods hair salon in the mountains of NC! We have traveled this country from coast to coast for my husbands job and I don't ever brag or flaunt our money or lifestyle around but in this case I'll let them know that we make more in one year than this salon makes in probably 5, if they're lucky. To treat a potential customer like that and repeatedly insult them by telling them they can't afford to come to your salon is absolutely disgusting coming from a minimum wage receptionist. So here's my thought of how they run this show. I've never been to a salon that charges by the hour, $80 an hour, so by this experience I can only assume that they must work at a snails pace and take twice as long to do hair so they can charge you a crazy high price. Look at their online prices and the time frame that they put for the services. It's ridiculous. I've only ever went to a master and I love high end, pampering salons and spas and have no problem paying for great services but this place is not close to being that because the first thing you should hear is a young, pleasant, friendly person on the phone and they missed the mark on that one! I will FINALLY take my husbands advice that he's been telling me for almost a year to do and that is to stop letting these people around here mess my hair up and just fly back and forth to Atlanta to my long time stylist and get my cut, color and Keratin services until we are done with his job here. This place put that into motion because I am done after this rude experience. read more

I called the same day for a haircut and was able to get in for an appointment within 15 min which was nice. I was the last cut of the day so I got the salon to myself the hair shampoo was very good and I really enjoyed the hair cut. However, when I got home I realized that my haircut was uneven and that they would not open again till Tuesday and it was Saturday. On Tuesday morning I called and left a polite message about wanting to get my haircut fixed. I got a call back shortly after stating that I would need to book another appointment with the SAME hair stylist that originally cut it. No problem well the only appointments the SAME hairstylist had were while I was at work the next two days and she didn't work on Tuesday I explained that I was going out of town for 5 days to the receptionist and would really like it fixed before leaving town and she said sorry that it was policy because it could potentially cost them an extra haircut if another stylist fixed it. Well now I have to go to Florida with a crooked haircut and find another salon and pay for a second hair cut to fix the one I just got. Nothing against the stylist she was very pleasant just against the "Rules" since they don't really work in every situation. read more

Christine Carver is EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED!! This is a long post, but I believe it is worth your time if you need a stylist, or if you have damaged hair that needs correction. My hair was destroyed when I came to Lux Salon. It was so damaged that I honestly didn't want to leave my house. It was that bad.I moved from Michigan to North Carolina at the end of December last year. I had a color change before we moved and it left my hair damaged. I called a stylist in the heart of downtown and made an appointment for a deep conditioning. The stylist remarked that my highlights weren't straight and needed correction. I explained that my hair was bleached just two weeks prior. She thought it needed to be done, and I went along with it. Adding more bleach left my hair so much more damaged. It was like straw and brassier that when I came in. I cried, which I have never done in a salon before. The damage was so bad that I had to have two to three inches cut off. My hair has always been about shoulder length. It was less than chin length and still looked terrible. As it became warmer my hair (which is thick) responded to the humidity by becoming very full. Short hair that I couldn't keep down prompted me to have it thinned out. The next stylist that I went to for thinning started at the top! My hair literally had short spikes coming from the top that I could do absolutely nothing about. I hated looking in the mirror. My self esteem took a big hit. After a few weeks I couldn't stand it anymore. I decided to check out having extensions put in. I called Lux Salon. Initially Christine didn't know if extensions would work, due to the multiple lengths and the condition of my hair. She spent a great deal of time educating me and giving me a consultation to determine whether my hair could successfully hold extensions. Thankfully, she determined that she could do it. Her manager had the extentions ordered and expedited. My hair was prepped for the extensions and Christine did an amazing job. She came in on her day off because she knew how upset I was. I looked and felt so much better. It was like night and day. I cannot thank her enough. She is both approachable and professional. BTW, my photograph in the FB picture was before I saw her!! I walked out with shiny, perfectly matched color, much longer hair. I took the time to write this because I want to help anyone from going through what I went through!! I LOVE LUX Salon! I moved here just a couple months ago. I have a super short pixie cut that needs to be kept up every six weeks or so. It is colored blonde (naturally dark brown) so it is important to me to have someone who is very qualified and educated so I don't end up looking like a boy or with hair falling out or a strange color. The first time I went I scheduled with Liz. I just had a feeling about this place before I even went based on the website and waited 3 weeks to get an appointment even though I really really wanted a trim. I held out and didn't change my mind and just go to another place out of desperation. So, I finally went in and was greeted warmly by Donovan at the front desk. He offered me a refreshing glass of water with cucumber and offered to take my jacket and any other belongings and if I needed anything else to be more comfortable. I sat in the chair and Liz, who is super cute with gorgeous hair and really fun to talk to, played with my hair and asked what we wanted to do. I told her that I am flexible, love my short hair, but am open to whatever she wanted to do with me. She's the pro. She cut it shorter than usual and I loved it. She styled it just right so that it was short but still feminine. We scheduled an appointment at that time for a trim and color in a few weeks. Over the few weeks I was stopped all over the place with compliments on my hair. women at church would stop me, on the street, in the store, at my kids' schools... I was glad to not be the only one who loved the cut! So I went back for my trim and color with Liz. I was there for a little over 3 hours. She took her time to make sure it was just the right color, do something fun, cut my hair, and even gave me a hand massage and paraben treatment while I was under the heater. It was awesome! I love going there and can't wait for my next appointment. read more

I booked with my stylist I've been going to for three years and after being rescheduled 3 times (and making sure the last time she would have time for my complicated process and several hours open) was assured my stylist had the time (minimum 3 hours for me. When I arrived I had her attention for about 20 minutes before her friends came in for a party that night and she decided to dye all our hair at the same time, going back and forth between us. I'd showed her a photo of the last time she did exactly what I wanted to my hair and the finish product was nothing like that and not what I wanted. On top of this I had to watch her friends get half naked in the salon changing clothes for their party that night. I left this salon in tears as the manager told me that I could come back later that week to have it fixed (I live an hour away and have full time school and work) which did not work for me. When you show a stylist exactly what you want, not a photo of another person but of you, and of what THEY did to your hair the last time you expect them to pay attention and do it again. I will NEVER return to Lux and encourage others not to if you like for your stylist to actually pay attention to you and not 3 people at once after rescheduling you 3 times. And never EVER let a client walk out in tears. Just bad business. Will be getting it corrected at another salon where maybe they will concentrate on me for the money I save up a year to be able to treat myself to this dye job. SO incredibly disappointed. read more

Went to get a basic haircut. Had Britney as a stylist. Needless to say there was a miscommunication about what I wanted. She basically cut my hair to 1 inch length when I asked for a basic old ladies hair cut. Guess we had a different idea. It was very traumatic for me to have hair that short. But I was resigned to it and begged her to never do this to anyone else and always look at a picture. She apologized. But then when I went to check out the manager started attacking me. Wow so much for the customer having any opinion or being right. She said that what I had was so much better then what I came in with. Well when you spend the night in hospice with your dying brother your lucky to be awake. So I guess my big complaint is with the horrible way the manager treated me on the checkout. She should have apologized but no she had to yell at me and say I should not have talked to her stylist like that. Well she did maim my hair in my opinion. But you know at the Lux salon the customer is not right or even valued. Skip this place and go to another salon where people respect the customer. read more

Don't get eyelash extensions at Lux. When I made the appointment I expressed that I would be attending an important event the following night. I was ten minutes late due to traffic, of course I called to let them know... They said no problem but when I arrived I waited three hours. I was extremely patient and understanding (after all, I was late) My money was collected up front. Soon after I was told we had to to an allergy test and then wait 24 hours before they could do the lashes. There would be no lashes for my next day event! What is most frustrating is that I could have made an appointment elsewhere and got the beautiful lashes I was willing to pay $250 for. I've had eyelash extensions all over the country no problem. I tried to work it out with the manager. She only argued with me. No refund. No apologies. I've never written a bad review in my life. This was so horrible I felt compelled to give you the heads up. Upon retrospect the practitioner had less than impressive lashes herself. Better to have natural lashes than bad ones! read more
