The people are nice but I don't think I have ever gotten a more poor quality dye job. They gave me a total racing stripe down the center of my head. I had them fix it and they dyed my roots a totally different color than the rest of my hair. I asked them to do lowlights to break up the blockiness and was told she "didn't have time" to fix it properly. I had to go to Sally's and spend even more money to fix it myself. read more

Salon 104 takes good care of the customer from start to finish. There is ample parking in the back, kindly greetings, offers of beverages, help with your coat, etc. The decor is nice as well. Callie is a wonderful hairdresser and such a sweet person too. She does exactly what is wanted, makes a few recommendations of her own that are always spot on, and does the job really, really well. Maybe I'm a little biased because I worked as an assistant here through my time in cosmetology school, but I wanted to write a review to show my love for this salon! The stylists are all very knowledgeable and I would trust any of them to cut/color/style my hair. There are two (maybe more since I have been gone) platform educators for Goldwell (which is the color line the salon uses). The stylists are all very personable and friendly. They are real people who will always make you feel welcome and treat you with respect. They are really great at what they do and know what kind of cut/color will suit your needs and make you look fantastic. The retail area is very well stocked and there are tons of products to help you do whatever you need to do with your hair! read more

I have generally had good experiences at this salon, but not this time. I got my hair cut on a Thursday, and it looked alright. I figured it would look better once I washed and fixed it myself, but when I did that over the weekend, my hair is significantly shorter on one side than the other in the front and back. It wasn't immediately obvious because I have curly hair. I called over the weekend and left a message to get someone to fix it on Tuesday. I called and left messages twice without a call back. I finally went to the salon, and was told that there was no one to fix my hair today, that I would have to come back tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9:30. So, I get a bad haircut and have to miss work to get it fixed. I'm also told it can be fixed Thursday or Friday, so now I have to rearrange my schedule and live with crazy hair for another two days. The lady at the desk (I believe she is the owner) got quite rude with me when I expressed my unwillingness to miss work again. I honestly wouldn't have given such a low rating if it hadn't been for the rudeness, which was uncalled for. Getting a bad haircut is one thing, but not returning my calls, expecting me to rearrange my schedule and being rude to me are just not acceptable. I've had good experiences here too, so if you try this salon, you might get lucky and get a good haircut so you don't have to deal with this. read more

I was so pleased to have found this place! I stumbled across their name when I was searching for a salon that would treat my curls well. Not only are their stylists Deva trained, they're wonderfully personable and respectful! I was having a bit of an emergency and needed someone to fix up my botched hair cut. They were able to squeeze me in as soon as I called and set me up with a stylist who was able to see what I wanted and execute it perfectly! I was so pleased when I walked out (which is a rare occurrence). In fact, I plan on returning for future cuts, even though I'm based out of Charlotte. Definitely worth the drive! I saw a woman with a haircut that showed a nice cut done by someone who might possibly have a good eye. So I asked her who cut it and she told me Amy R. at Salon 104. I made an appointment and had hopes that I may have found a haircutter I like after moving here recently. Well, I don't know if Amy was having an off day or if the other woman just got lucky, but I got one of the worst haircuts from Amy that I have had in a very, very long time. I couldn't believe she would let someone leave the place with what she did! I would have been embarrassed to do so if I were a haircutter. To start, the bangs were too short, cut much too much over into the sides, as well as cut upward on the sides making them look like they should be on a man, then she cut a short layer on the top of the head, but then didn't at all work the sides to balance with the top. Picture one of those cuts from the 80s with a poofy top and longer sides, and all that with short bangs going over too far to the side and cut square looking. That is what she had me leave with! I went right home, rewet my hair, got out scissors and cut my hair (cutting the sides to try to work better with the top layer that was cut much too short) to try to at least add some balance to the whole thing so I wouldn't have to wear a hat for the next few weeks while waiting for the mess to grow back in. I really hope she was just having a bad day, but I will certainly not be back in her chair to find out if that was the case. read more
