Dr Katz did my root canal painlessly, and made sure I was not hurt during my treatment. Galina was assisting him, and she did an amazing job helping dr Katz and supporting me psychologically! Stay away from this office! These are scammers. They are out of the network office, they will not worn you that they are out of network and they will keep quiet about this. Thay will promise you that your insurance will pay for you most of the amount and will give you fake breakdowns of the price showing that the insurance covers most of it . I received an appointment right away for a consultation for a root canal. Dr. Umanoff was polite, friendly & professional. As well as the rest of the staff. The office is beautiful and modern and close to home. They also accommodated my husband as a new patient right away when he was in pain. He was promptly treated and is currently healing from his procedure. As for me, I got my root canal completed in two visits and it was completely painless (didn't even feel the needle!) and comfortable. Not only is he a fantastic dentist but his staff is always kind, and I never feel nervous to call them and ask questions or change an appointment if necessary. They also take the time to ask how you are doing and are always very pleasant with a smile on their faces. Whenever I go for a cleaning I feel like I get a very thorough and honest experience. After much conversation and concern for the future of my dental health, the doctor recommended Invisilgn. Best decision I've made in a long time! Not only have my teeth become super straight, but I have no more issues grinding my teeth in my sleep. It became the solution to several of my dental concerns. I love the fact that I was able to go and see the doctor anytime that I felt my trays needed to be adjusted or even if I had questions about the process. I have crappy teeth and loads of experience with dentists both in NYC and abroad. Dr Umanoff is easily the best of everyone I've ever gone to. He does come with a price tag and only some insurances will cover a certain percentage of the cost but to me it's well worth it. Tooth pain is probably on par with the most infamous pains - pain in the neck and the nether regions - when you have it, you can think of nothing else. So spending some $$ here to ensure I can chew for a few more years without worry is "priceless." Firstly, ALL of Dr Umanoff's staff is extremely courteous and warm. Now, for me personally, skill always takes precedence over bedside manner, but in this case you are offered both. Fantastically attentive care and great quality. You are seen on time and things get taken care of promptly. Additionally, every step is explained to your satisfaction. Your initial consultation, including x-rays, is free (imagine!!) and they even give you a cute little gift consisting of - well, let it be a surprise. I would HIGHly recommend finding a way to see Dr Umanoff, I don't care if you have to borrow, beg and steal. He's worth it and so is your mouth. read more

Went here to get my teeth straightened. Was told first I needed 2 implants. After receiving the implants was told I couldn't straighten my teeth now it should've been done before the implants! One of the implants is ridiculously long and unnatural looking (it is all white no gums at all) when I complained one of the dentists agreed but Dr Umanoff said it was fine. THREE other dentists have since told me that implant looks terrible and has to be fixed. Needless to say I paid A LOT of money and was left with even more reasons to not smile. read more

A very honest review. I had a root canal in my veneer crown and was looking for a very special dentist who can do a root canal without damaging the veneer crown. All the good yelp reviews led me to see Dr. Umanoff. He did a nice job drilling a tiny hole in my veneer crown without damaging it, but he didn't take care of the root canal from the first time. The cost was $880. The next few days I suffered from more pain than before I came to see Dr. Umanoff, - there was a huge inflammation in that root canal Dr. Umanoff "was supposed to fix". So I called the office and came back without appointment as an emergency. Dr. Umanoff took care of me, and this time it got fixed. He put a temporary filling and said he would replace it with a permanent one on my next visit. Then they offered me to take advantage of the teeth cleaning "special" they had going on, which was $135, on a condition that I had to pay upfront. So I did. Since then I had like 20 phone calls from the office; they tried to change my appointment for an early or later date, or they wanted to remind me of my "next day my appointment" which was supposed be weeks later (they didn't even bother looking at the calendar to check my actual appointment date). It felt like they had too much free time at hand, not enough business or patients, so they just grab the phone and start calling everyone. It was sooooo annoying, I had to yell at the girl to stop calling me everyday for no reason. A few weeks later I came back for my teeth cleaning, which went good. The Hygenist was a lovely lady, and tried to educate me on tongue cleaning and teeth flossing, which Ive been doing on a daily basis for the past 10 years, anyways. The teeth cleaning itself took a longer time because the hygenist was analyzing my entire month, every tooth, and putting the info into the computer; very strange because Dr. Umanoff did that on my first visit a couple of months ago. Then I asked the hygenist if dr. Umanoff could stop by to put the temporary filling in the tooth he did a root canal in, which would have taken 5-10 min. She said, "yes, of course"! So when Dr. Umanoff came, he started analyzing my entire mouth and my every tooth again, just like he did on my first visit two moths ago. (Did you forget, doctor?). The hygenist just did that right before he came. I didn't ask them to do it, and I had no complaints about my teeth, why you keep going into my mouth every time I'm there? Seems to me, there's not enough effective communication, team work, office dynamics and common sense between each office employee. That took good 15 min. When I asked him to put a permanent filling in the tooth he fixed earlier, he said he didn't have the time and that I have to make an appointment for that. Then why did you check my entire mouth for 15 min???? You already did that two months ago, your hygenist just did that to me 10 min ago! ?????????????? I got so mad and left. What I can honestly say about the doctor is that he does a lot of unnecessary sugar coating talk, and may not be the most experienced dentist. He may be good for somebody else, but in my case, he wasn't the greatest dentist I've seen. The office girls are not experienced and well trained either. They will call you non-stop every day until your appointment without even checking your actual appointment date. I will not return. ;-( I had a few root canals in the past, and they were always fixed and sealed with permanent filling from the first time. And I just saw a missed call from dr. Umanoff's office again yesterday, even though I have no upcoming appointments with this office and have no intentions of going back there, - why do you continue calling me? Can your please remove my number from your database forever? And please stop calling me!!!! It's very annoying!!!!! I had to block their number. read more

I've been to many dentists throughout my years and I cannot begin to explain how amazing this office is. From the receptionists, to the assistants, to the technicians, to the finance dept. to the Doctor himself. From the minute I walked in the door, I was greeted by name even though I never stepped foot in that office before. When I called to make an appointment I was in so much pain that they gave me an appointment for the same day. The receptionist knew how much pain I was in and called me back to ask me if I wanted to come in earlier than the time of the appointment. She was so compassionate and friendly, as was everyone one else from the moment I got there. They were all helpful and courteous and put me right at ease as if they knew me for years. The Doctor addressed what my problem was and what all my options were to fix it and spent enough time with me until I understood all those options. I had a wisdom tooth removed and didn't feel any pain or pressure. The entire office is equipped with state of the art and high tech equipment. They have CEREC machine that can make your crown in one hour, yes ONE hour crown and for someone who values their time more than anything it's a great option. I felt like I'm in SPA, with glasses and Netflix I didn't want to leave my comfy chair. The minute I got home, I received a call from the office asking how I'm feeling and if I need any assistant I could call Dr. Directly, which you won't get at any dental office I guarantee you that.
