I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars. First and foremost, this is a great office. The front desk people always have a smile for everyone, and my average wait time is never more than 10 minutes, even when I'm early. I should begin this review by saying that I've had extensive work done here, and unfortunately a great deal of different procedures at other dentists and periodontists in NYC and Florida. Dr. Moskowitz is a dream dentist. He's as upbeat as he can be, yet he never sugarcoats the situation. He will answer endless questions, and never seems frustrated or irritated. I don't like dentists, and I am kind of a wuss when it comes to pain, but he is unfailingly gentle, and will stop and administer more anesthetic in the middle of a procedure if the patient wants it. I cannot say enough about my experience with him, and with his assistant, who also went to dental school, Dora. They are an amazing team, and I trust them completely. Why? I read some previous reviews about unnecessary work ordered, but I had all different options and price points discussed with me, and wasn't pushed toward the most expensive option. My father made the same decision to have a permanent bridge put in, and his dentist (in Florida) was not as good as Advanced Dental Care - he gets food caught under it and it irritates his gums. My bridge fits so well that I feel like it's nearly my natural teeth. They didn't rush to cement it in, but used temporary paste, until I was sure that the fit was absolutely correct. So why not 5 stars? They are EXPENSIVE. I have dental insurance, and with the insurance that they take, I'm still paying tens of thousands of dollars out of my own pocket. I know that there are less expensive dentists out there, but I've decided that the thoroughness and expertise that I have experienced here are worth the money. After all, it is your mouth, and I don't know about you, but I like eating. They make sure that they accommodate my schedule, and after hearing my dad complain about the dental work that he had done, I think it is ABSOLUTELY worth the cost. read more

tl;dr: this place takes advantage of economically vulnerable people and the administration is an absolute mess. Extremely long wait after appointment time to be seen, and the administration is horribly managed. This place is terrible. I went to get my wisdom teeth removed. The consultation was standard and everything went fine. They verified that I was qualified for a loan and repayment plan but then I received a letter in the mail after my surgery saying that I did not qualify for the extended repayment plan despite being assured before my surgery that I was. They had me sign up for a plan that caused me financial stress under false pretenses. They called to reschedule my surgery twice which caused confusion with my job because I had to request time off for the surgery and then change it, twice. When I arrived for my surgery, I had to wait an hour and half to be seen by the surgeon whose assistant did not follow her instructions to x ray me while I waited, causing more of a delay. The guy before me had been waiting for two hours. The surgery itself went fine. They have very capable doctors. But so do A LOT of other dental offices. I received IV sedation and it was very fast. The big issue with this place is the management and administration. It is VERY poorly managed. They sent my scripts to the wrong pharmacy (TWICE!) and it took a few hours after my surgery to get them. Also, I requested an itemized receipt for my surgery both before and after my procedure. Was initially told hey can't give that to me until after the procedure. Then on 10/12 when I followed up I was told it would take a day to get to me. It's 10/17 and I still don't have my itemized receipt and they have not called me back. This is what I wonder: 1. I asked for an itemized receipt before my surgery and they said that they could not provide this until after the surgery because that's when they would be able to calculate the totals. 2. If that's the case why did they give me a solid price (the wording was, verbatim "the surgery will cost $2400". It was a definitive statement and not a quote) and have me sign up for a loan and repayment plan based on this amount if they can't actually calculate the totals until after the procedure? 3. Why are they unable to supply an itemized receipt when requested? Why don't they already have this information calculated and on file? Why won't they return my calls about this? Why are they being so shady about this? I am concerned that this place takes advantage of those who need dental work and who may be economically vulnerable, in a lot of pain, and who may be desperate to get this work done. I started having pain on the right side of my face and started doing some research on yelp. Advanced popped up and had good reviews I called and got an appointment for the same day. Dr. Aaron Moscowitz is the best! He made me feel at ease and comfortable from the time we shook hands. The tech took extras of the area and he explained everything thoroughly to me. I haven't been to the dentist in years so I know I needed work. I had an extraction and felt nothing. I was given verbal instructions on the area, something in writing, gauze for the area and an ice pack. I also received pain killers and anti biotics and mouth wash. I went back today for them to do the root canal. I didn't feel a thing honestly except a minor pinch at one point and that was it. The root canal was about 45 mins, he waited about 15 mins until he returned and started working on the temporary crown. I go back in two weeks for the completion. So far my experience has been outstanding I highly recommend this dental office. Just a side note my insurance only covered 2500 but everything came up to 4300. They have financing through care credit and also wells Fargo. I did wells Fargo for small payments over 12 months to cover the remainder. Have been a patient over 3 years and the state of my gums and teeth have never been better. Last cleaning was last week and hygienist commented on the healthy condition of my gums . They recommended a water pick about a year ago and has made a tremendous difference.I also had an implant done about two years ago and there have been no complications.They are very professional and provide great dental care . Now they are not inexpensive but you do not want to cut corners with your dental care. I would not recommend this Dental Office to anyone. Their appearance is terrible, and they are out to get every dime from you by over charging you. I went there to get a root canal and was seen pretty promptly, but after I was seen by the endodontic there attitude changed quickly. First they tried to overcharge me. The assistant with the unprofessional tone told me the cost for my root canal will be $2,200, and my insurance covers $1,000 and that I will have to pay $1,200 out of pocket. I asked her if that was a normal price for root canals, and she replied (with both pointer fingers pointing down) "THIS IS HOW MUCH WE CHARGE HERE". I googled the average price for roots canals when they stepped out and I was getting and average of $700-$1,100 total cost. When I told them that I'm not willing to pay that much for a root canal, they offered me a payment plan. But the assistant had to make sure that she mentioned that I need to have good credit as if I appear to be someone who look like I don't have good credit. I told her no thanks, I don't need their service. They prescribed me some medication, and I left. It's clear to see they are only after your money. This place has serious issues with trying to up sell EVERYTHING along with routine procedures. A close friend of mine recommended this place to me over a year ago. The first red flag came when my wife went in for a routine cleaning. She told me the office was very small and the wait was very long. She stated the cleaning was very rough and the worst that she ever had done. I thought she was being dramatic and basically dismissed her opinion. Fast forward to my first appointment in early 2017. Several teeth were hurting from not practicing proper dental hygiene in my youth and early adulthood. Don't judge me but by this time I had pulled several of my top/bottom back teeth on both sides and were inquiring about solutions. They quickly shuffled me into the next room before even addressing my main issues and very aggressively tried to sell me on implants to the tune of $27,000. Needless to say i declined and could not wait to get out of this office. They did not even address the issue of the pain in my mouth. I did not even return for me 6 month checkup and teeth cleaning. Fast forward to 10/2/2018. I was on vacation in Aruba and these same teeth started acting up. I was scheduled to fly back to JFK on 10/4/2018 and arrive at 6pm. I made an emergency appt. for 9pm while I was waiting for my plane to take off in Aruba. My wife and I arrived to JFK on time and went straight to the dentist office. I waited about 45 minutes to be called and when I the dentist looked at my mouth he stated he could pull the tooth. He also mentioned he would have to do some sort of bone grafting which I thought was strange and then left the room. Then a young lady came into the room and explained that the extraction was covered but I would have to pay an extra $800 for the grafting. I was completely outraged and accused them of trying take advantage of my situation. She stated they could not pull the tooth without doing the grafting. I declined and left. The next morning I called my insurance and stated my situation and distrust for this dentist office. They emailed me a list of other dentist in the area. I switched to another dentist, called them up and made an appt. for 11am. and had the tooth out by 4:30pm. I wrote this review because I went to this dentist and extreme pain and they would not do their job unless they could sell me an BS procedure to go with an extraction. I had to go home in pain and switch to a more reputable establishment to get my issue resolved. I will be posting this review all over the web to warn ppl about this dentist. read more

I came to see the periodontist. They looked at my x-rays from my normal dentist and told me they couldn't treat me. It was too complicated for their periodontist. They showed me the door and told me to go upstairs to a different one and charged me for the trouble. The new periodontist had no trouble with my case. This is my experience from about 3 years ago. I went in for a routine cleaning and exam. I also had a filling that worked loose that I wanted to refill. I went through my insurance "Dentcare" from Healthplex. Which I now find is a joke compared to previous jobs with dental coverage. I chose this place because out of all the dentists listed he had the most positive reviews on Yelp. Upon going there I noticed the facilities were pretty shabby. The staff was fine but the waiting area looked pretty run down (It may have improved by now). They gave me an x-ray and told me in addition to the missing filling I needed to have another cavity filled on the other side. Also he also said only the metal filling was covered. The tooth colored white one wasn't and I would have to pay the difference. All told the procedure for the 2 teeth would have been $475. He didn't pressure me since there were other customer and said to come back next time for that procedure. The cleaning covered by my insurance was pretty routine. The hygenist was pretty to look and upsold me on what I believe was totally unnecessary injection to help my gums fight bacteria. It tasted like they were squirting oral rinse(mouthwash) from a needle. That "procedure" added about $120 to my bill and I walked out of there paying about $175 for essentially x-rays and a cleaning. I never went back for the filling and just lived with the hole for a while. I took a trip to visit family in Arizona and read a NYT article about medical tourism in Nogales, Mexico. What the heck.. why not? So I took a 1 day road trip out to Nogales Arizona and walked across the Mexican border. Viva Mexico! Unfortunately as a non-Catholic I didn't realize the pious* folks of Mexico were closed on Sundays. (*Not too pious as the strip clubs were still open.) Feb 2016 I went to visit Costa Rica when the sale price for a non-stop R/T flight from JFK was down to $330! I noticed there were a lot of signs for dentist throughout the towns and cities. I took a gamble** and tried one in Monteverde (**I checked a dozen reviews actually). I had a cleaning and the hole refilled with white filler. My teeth had NEVER felt cleaner and my filling was perfect. What about the other cavity? Turns out the dentist said there was none and didn't need it. How much was the dentist visit? $100 bucks total. This is NOT some fly-by-night operation. This is an established dentist that was well reviewed and respected. (Sorry I forgot his name). So basically I got a flight and dental work for LESS than the cost of the 2 fillings at Advance Dental Care (one of which wasn't NEEDED anyway). Furthermore, always skeptical since the Costa Rican dentist didn't take an x-ray (he said it wasn't needed but I could do it for additional cost). When I went for an emergency visit to NYU Dental clinic (HIGHLY recommended BTW) I verified with the student on the X-Ray that there was no cavity whatsoever. Scrolling through there are over 70 hidden reviews on here. They are either really bad or 5 star from users with 1 review TOTAL. I would proceed cautiously with this establishment. read more

I need my wisdom teeth removed and they want to charge $4500. That is bonkers. I had to speak with a financial assistant or some thing during the process of scheduling my oral surgery, which was the first warning bell. I wish I had listened to it. Instead they talked me into an expensive procedure with an unnecessary component (a membrane that is almost $1000 per tooth - they won't do the surgery without it). Do NOT go to this dentist! They will over charge you for everything! I went here a month ago for a cracked tooth that I wanted pulled out. They did xrays and the dentist took some looks and said that he'll have me speak to the office manager to explain what the cost would be for my work and that was it. No attempt to clean or even most important take this cracked tooth out! So I'm thinking to myself...I have pretty good insurance which covers mostly everything. I walk over and the office manager runs through what I needed and says : Your out of pocket cost is $10,000....!!! I'm like WHAT. I do need work done but in no way it would be that much. Then she askes me how good my credit is or if I know someone that has good credit to apply for the care credit card...Hell no! For what?? At this point I already know this office is just scamming ppl out of their insurance and their money. So I ask if my fillings are covered and she said yes but only metal. WRONG! My insurance covers the white ones!! I just asked for a prescription for antibiotics and decided to leave. As I'm leaving the same office manager said to give the prescription some time to fill at the local Rite Aid and then said: BUT DONT GO AND SPEND ANY MONEY WHILE YOU WAIT..... I went here a few weeks ago for a general check up and a few concerns about a wisdom tooth that needed to come out. The hygienist I saw was very friendly and welcoming. When I was leaving the office she said she would call me to schedule me when an appointment opened up since they were booked up until April and that a financial consuler will be in contact - first red flag. Its been 3 weeks and still no phone call. My wisdom tooth started to bother me more, so I called to see if there was an earlier appointment to come in. After being on hold, the receptionist told me I can come in the next day at 12:30. She then stated that it can be done under IV Sedation-second red flag. I told her it was not necessary because I know it's not covered under my insurance due to a previous experience with a dental office. She then went on to explain the pre op of getting IV sedation and I had to reiterate that it was not necessary. The third red flag was when she said the procedure will be $800. Mind you I provided her my name and DOB prior so she would be able to see that I had insurance. I was placed on hold again, then she came back and said it was only going to be partially covered since I need to have the extraction, membrane removal, and bone graft. That's when I heard enough. I'm like why do I need a bone graft when it's my wisdom tooth and I don't need an implant for a tooth I don't need nor am suffering from bone loss. After that, the receptionist stated she needed to refer me to an outside dentist (an oral surgeon) if I'm not going to do the bone graft and membrane removal. This place is nothing more than a scam who try to get money anyway possible. Luckily I work for a health insurance company and understand how everything works but what about the unfortunate ones who don't and are taken advantage of. They have no idea what they are doing and will say anything to make a fat $. The office even lied to the person who referred me starting that they submitted authorization for a procedure she needed and it takes 6 weeks to get it processed (the phone was on speaker). She called the insurance company and was told it was never received and standard processing is no more than 14 days. And when she called the office back, no one had any answers and try to give her the run around. I will never do business with this place again. read more

I am writing this review of Brooklyn Dental Associates and intend to notify my union dental plan that this is an unscrupulous dental office. I am also asking them, if at all possible, to remove this office from their provider network. After all, they are not accepting what the union dental plan is paying for dental services. In fact, as I think about it, unlike other dentist offices that I have been to, no claim forms were ever provided for my signature. This is done in the normal course of business at other dental offices that I have visited. Even if the signatures were not done on paper, there would be electronic signatures. The first time I came to this office, in approximately April 2017, I was in excruciating pain. The right side of my face was very swollen. It turned out that my tooth was infected and had to be extracted. This is when I met Dr. Amarian. He was such a calm, reassuring and knowledgeable dentist. He referred me for an immediate visit to the oral surgeon in Williamsburg. Little did I know that, despite being told that I should make an appointment to come back and see him for necessary dental work, I would not see him again. So, about three months passed and I made an appointment with Dr. Amarian. When I arrived, I was seen by another dentist, whose name I do not recall and I'm not sure how much of a real dentist he was. This "dentist" looked in my mouth and assessed the condition of my teeth. After this assessment, you would think that I had a mouth full of "rotten teeth", as if I never cared for my teeth in my entire life. To finish off this assessment, he referred me to see the office manager, someone named "MJ", who wrote up an estimate of work for $26,798 w/o insurance and $23,275 w/insurance. I could not believe this but tried to contain my disbelief. This was absolutely absurd. "MJ" also said that I could apply for credit to pay for this work. I would never consider applying for credit to pay for dental work. This made absolutely no sense when one has coverage thru a dental plan. I did not say anything about this then but was very upset. I walked out of this dental office, thinking never to return. Anyway, I'm fast forwarding to yesterday, Monday January 29th, 2018. I still needed dental work done. So, I went to my plan's website and looked for a participating provider. I found Advanced Dental Care of NYC. I called the office, thinking this was another dental office in the building but soon realized it was the same office. The only thing that was different was Dr, Amarian was no longer there. I was told that Dr. Kendall was available and was very good. Hence, the appointment was made for yesterday. I have to say that Dr. Kendall was excellent. She is very professional, courteous and knowledgeable about her work. Dr. Kendall said that I could save the tooth in question by having a root canal. She indicated that someone would be in to discuss insurance, etc. Fast forward and who was it again?!, This "M.J. again! She said this time the root canal would be covered but the crown isn't covered, which just was not true. I contacted my union dental plan. She was trying to get an exorbitant amount of money again. This time it was either $1200 or $1875 for a metal or porcelain crown respectively. They offered a payment plan but it would have to paid over 2 payments. Again, they had a credit plan, that would have to be applied for and you needed to have a FICO score of 650. Now, this was really "the straw that broke the camel's back". Enough is enough. This office needs to be stopped. One way that this can be done is by posting my bad experience and not referring any patients come there who could be duped by these methods. This needs to be stopped. Rude , unprofessional receptionist. They have three and not one can book an appointment properly. They screwed the appointment I made and gave away my husbands appointment because they sent a confirmation text to the wrong person and that person said they couldn't make it. Before this, they called me to ask why I hadn't come in for an appointment I had already rescheduled . Then when I asked them to confirm my appt for the new date they tell me they don't have me scheduled for that day. To many mistakes make me nervous about what else they could be careless about. Do yourselves a favor find an office with good , professional and competent people. I went to Advanced Dental Care because they are on my insurance panel. I waited an hour past my appointment time to be seen, which was frustrating but not uncommon in NYC. The dental hygienist was lovely, as was Dr. Amirian. However, I needed a procedure done that my insurance covers without a copay. The amount my insurance will pay is much less than what Dr. Amirian bills for the procedure (as is common) and I was told that I would have to pay the remainder. I don't know if this is legal or not, but it's pretty shady. I then went to a different dentist who told me that there was no copay listed on the fee schedule so there would be no out-of-pocket expense for me. Advanced Dental Care attempted to charge me something like $1900 when I didn't rightfully have to pay anything. read more

Do not go here if you want any professionalism. The front desk staff is completely incompetent and ridiculous. It is obvious this place just wants to milk you for as much money as they can. I came here for two dental emergencies and both times they wrote me the wrong referral and then tried to over charge for services. When I called them to correct this the receptionist refused to accept her fault and then tried to tell me that she had wrote down the right tooth when she had just spoken with the oral surgeon who had already told her that it was wrong. To make matters worst they billed the wrong insurance twice even though I have given them a copy of my insurance card and double checked with them that they had updated their information. The first time this happened I treated it as just a simple mistake but the second time is just to much. I will be taking my services elsewhere. read more

Yesterday was my first time at Advanced Dental Care and I had a very good experience. After failing to find a dentist I liked the first time, I stumbled upon this place. I felt the cleaning was very thorough and they were very good at explaining everything to me. The place is a little small but seemed clean. The hygienist also was up front and looked up the prices for different things for me before just doing it. Very friendly atmosphere and overall good appointment. I went to Brooklyn Dental for dental care and Invisalign Braces. Couldn't have found a better dental office! Dr. Amarian and the staff are skilled, knowledgeable and friendly. The staff always worked promptly to ensure they achieved the best mold of your teeth so your braces fit properly. The front desk staff always displays a warm and welcoming attitude. I went to this place for a cleaning on a sunday ; which it was convenient for me ; it was done very well by the hygienist. But when the doctor came he told me I need some extraction or I need a tooth replacement. I had an option of removing ; I chose to remove it. I have never pay for any extractions; so it was going to cost me 900 dollars. Or. 4 thousand for the whole procedure . If I chose a second option of replacenig my tooth. It was not hurting me or bothering me. But I knew that in a future probably will ; but I found it absurd such an amount of money. The young Spanish lady told me that if I get approve by this lending companies to get a loan ( care credit and lending club. ) I would pay them and I would pay like a 130 a month. !!!! It was really crazy. I checked their reviews and they were really bad. I was very disappointed. Because they try to hook u up with a big bill. So be carefull. I did not like that from this place. I will try to change dentist. And have another opinion. read more
