One of my favorite staple restaurants is Luxe Bar & Grill in downtown Birmingham. I've honestly been surprised to see a few comments that simply aren't accurate regarding food quality. Someone recently claimed the fries aren't fresh and the burgers are made with frozen beef, and that's just not true. The food at Luxe is consistently delicious and high quality....always tastes fresh. The burgers are made with fresh, never-frozen beef, and so much of the menu is prepared in-house. The staff is genuinely kind, the service is great, and the quality has stayed consistent over the years. There's a reason Luxe has been a downtown Birmingham favorite for more than 15 years. If you haven't tried it yet, I definitely recommend giving it a chance and deciding for yourself. I think the food speaks for itself. read more

Visited for lunch during the work day with a friend. Parking wasn't too bad with meter parking being out front. Not much signage though with finding the front door. Got busy once noon hit. Inside is welcoming and swanky but not intimidating. A bit dark and got pretty loud. Bathrooms are in the back towards the right and our single stall. They don't really have lunch specials per se? They had specials, but they seem to be full size portions. No lunch menu either. The menu itself had lots of great options. They push their burgers a lot. My friend is gluten-free and she was happy with the tomato soup and Greek salad. Added chicken to it. I went with the burger special which was an ode to a Big Mac. Big portion and tons of flavor. The sauce was delicious. Ordered a side of the sweet potato fries and a big portion. The sweet potato fries were on the thinner side and had a great crunch and flavor. Hadn't been here in a few years and remember loving their wines and veggie burger. Birmingham is a different animal. IYKYK. It's not my scene, but this place is not exactly downtown so I tried again. The clientele is still the same though. Metered street parking on both sides, so easy to park. Didn't have reservations on a weeknight and was seated immediately though it was packed. Tara, our server, was very sweet and down to earth. Thank goodness someone in that restaurant was. Drinks are reasonably priced for Bham and strong. Ordered a mezcal old fashioned and a tequila cocktail. Both were made well without skimping on the good stuff. They have a veggie burger (BVB) that may or may not be vegan. Tara thought it had mayo as a binder, but held the sauce which did have mayo. Wish someone knew because it was good and homemade with lentils and bulgur wheat plus mushrooms. Yum. Luxe seemed like an obvious choice after parking outside and finishing a trail through Booth park ,Quarton lake and the downtown. It's not only because of the convenient location though that we ended up enjoying our time. The music was awesome, the wait time on walk-in was barely 5 minutes and the crowd was lively and a mix of upscale dressed up groups and casual passersby. The vibe was great and even at 10PM on a Sunday evening I could see people tricking in. We ordered the chicken finders for starters which were perfectly done and just the right combo of crispy outside and juicy inside. For dinner we ordered pasta salad ( served cold) and half chicken special which were both tasty. I loved arugula potatoes the chicken came with. All the other dishes , that I saw the servers carrying around, looked tempting and I am definitely getting the nachos and fries next time The service was quick. Stopped here after a on stage musical in Birmingham, Mi. It has an outside sitting area and Indoor sitting area. A full bar and great service. We ordered calamari, fries , Caesar salad, and lamb chops with macaroni and green beans with potatoes. Our drink order was a Paloma and Long Island. It was delicious but the lamb chops were a little over cooked. Will return here can't beat the ambiance and great service. I came here over the weekend for the first time in a couple of years and it is just as good as I remember! The vibe is upscale but comfortable. It's a smaller space with booth seating and seating at the bar. We waited about 45 minutes for a booth on Saturday night which wasn't bad! I had the Luxe Burger, and it was absolutely delicious--the patty was juicy, perfectly cooked, and paired with fresh, flavorful toppings. I added cheddar cheese to it - highly recommend! We shared the chicken tenders which were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, definitely a standout dish. Definitely get them with a side of ranch. The fries are nice, thin, and crispy! This has been a regular spot growing up in Birmingham. I love it, friends love it and my family loves it. They have great servers and start to know the regulars. This place is tiny, but they pump out food and drinks. My fiancé and I come here regularly to get the burgers and sweet potato mixed French fries. I loved everything about my meal at Luxe Bar & Grill in Birmingham. It was a beautiful day for outdoor dining, and I enjoyed the calamari and the salmon salad. The calamari was crispy and well seasoned with peppadew peppers and arugula. The salmon was well-cooked, tasted fresh, perfectly seared on the outside, and moist inside. I want to return just to eat these two dishes again. I went to Luxe after a bad experience at Market North End. A Yelper told me that the same person owns both restaurants. I think it's irrelevant because the issue was with the hostess at Market North End, not the owner. My waitress at Luxe was very friendly. To my dear Stacey, our guardian angel disgusted as a waitress at Luxe. Walking from Sundance shoes to Luxe was a treacherous journey. Going back and forth between streets just to be back where we began. After countless minutes of walking around, we finally made it to Lukz. The building was disguised, no logo in sight. Yet we went inside after asking a traveler where to go- across the street. As we sit down, a cherry coke cocktail lured me in. As I look throughout the menu, I finally decided on what would save my stomach from the emptiness that produced my hangry-nes. A grilled chicken club. A simple food- little did I know that that simple sandwich would change my view of sandwiches forever. Just then, the cherry coke gets placed down in front of me; I reach my arm towards it, its siren song calling to me. But just then, CRASH. My water leapt off the table and broke on the floor, but not before emptying itself and my dignity . "Oh shit" the whole table seemed to have screamed in unison. "Oh no I'm so so so sorry!" my voice was rushed and panicked. "Oh don't be sorry" my waitress, Stacey, said, a soft smile on her face. I look up noting the angel standing before me. After we switched tables, our food was brought to us be another angel disguise as a waitress at this amazing restaurant. My sister was blessed with amazing mahi tacos, the devil of spice parading on her chips.(not ACTUALLY spicy, I'm just dramatic) My father eating a green apple salad. My mother getting a fresh Mahi sandwiches. As fries were placed in the center of our feast, I try the cherry coke and I could taste heaven on my tongue. My mother looks up, her plate cleaned with no scraps in sight. "This is the best mahi I've ever had" she said. We have been to Maine, Washington, Florida, Costa Rica and yet this random place in Mishigan was the best food that had ever grazed her lips. I look back down at my sandwich, chomping hard. As the taste of joy fills my mouth, tears well in the corner of my eyes as a smile appears on my face. The check comes, $110 for four people. Our travels come with a price. As we walk down the ever so inclusive wheelchair ramp, I see a cup of swords (toothpicks) for our journey ahead. This was a warning for what's coming ahead. Such a cute spot on the north end of downtown, about a 7 minute walk from the heart of downtown Birmingham! This is definitely a great spot to go after work or on a cute date. It's on the small side, but the decor and space both feels cozy and upscale at the same time. My friend and I who came here to dine especially loved all the various kitschy salt and pepper shaker sets lining the entire restaurant! The service was so awesome as well. The hostess and waitress we had were both so friendly and welcoming. My friend is gluten free and our waitress was so knowledgeable at the drop of a hat on what options were available on the menu for her and pointed them out with ease. She also was so considerate and made sure to double check on whether a few of the salad dressings my friend was inquiring about were gluten free as well. There are definitely a ton of options here for those who are gluten free! My friend and I both ended up getting salmon. She got the salmon salad and I got the salmon dinner. Both ended up being served very similarly with the same accompanying veggies! Except her salmon salad was cold and on a bed of lettuce and mine was hot with this sweet, tangy sauce glaze on everything. It was delicious and the salmon was such a big portion, especially for the price! The service was good, so I appreciate that. However, the women's restroom soap dispenser has clearly been broken for quite some time. There's no soap at all in there to wash your hands. I think that's pretty disgusting. Also the brussels sprouts on my salad were burnt and the Ahi Tuna salad didn't look very fresh. Honestly, I just can't get over the lack of hand soap and the complete disregard for a person needing to wash their hands, whether that's a customer or an employee of the restaurant. You will suffer long waits, being jostled around while you wait, and apathetic waitstaff, but the food is legitimately good. I've been 5 or 6 times so I have a good feel for the vibe. Very unique hold in the wall restaurant that is very busy. Coupled with great menu items, and a super friendly and engaging staff. They are more known for their distinguished burgers, but this time around I had some apps to share.
