Kenneth messaged me quickly and was very up front about what he could offer and for what price. Rooted is in the Folsom hills and right in the downtown area along Lake Natoma and the American River. Every time I venture out Folsom way there is something new to see, but this little area still has the same "feel" as when I was a kid - Cute, Quaint, Small-Town. Since they have only been in this location a few months they don't have signage up yet but you can't miss it, it's a darling little cottage with a red stone brick path leading to inviting walk up and entry. I felt comfortable right away. Kenneth was up front ringing out another client but made sure to greet me as soon as I entered, which says a lot in my book. He showed me to his room, which was super cozy; the salon chair was comfy; LOVED the wash station, Kenneth was awesome; very personable, we chatted it up while he washed, did a deep conditioning treatment, (can I get that hair drier to go pls?) lol, Brazilian blow out and some touch up with the flat iron so I could get home to flat iron the rest (I do that myself). Even without the flat iron it looked fantastic! My hair felt super clean and well hydrated, not dried out at ALL. When I got home to finish the flat iron it was nice n soft n felt fabulous. Loved it! One side is approximately an inch and a half longer than the other, and the two sides are styled and cut completely differently. One flips out and has noticeable bulk and length, while the other sits flatter and shorter. This is not a subtle difference. Even photos make it obvious, and multiple people -- including an AI image review tool -- immediately noticed the imbalance without being prompted. That says a lot. What makes this more frustrating is that I mentioned during the appointment that I live in a remote area where it's hard to get haircuts or corrections, so this isn't something easy for me to fix quickly. I'm not sure how I will fix this before I go to work on Monday. It is much worse than my self cut I requested to be fixed. When hair isn't styled before a client leaves, it can be difficult to catch major inconsistencies in the cut right away. I genuinely did not realize how uneven it was until later when I was back at my hotel and able to look at it more carefully myself. I also want to add that comments or conversations about clients as they are walking out the door can make people feel extremely uncomfortable and self-conscious, especially when they later realize there was a major problem with the service they received. I understand mistakes happen, but this haircut feels careless and inconsistent, and the unevenness absolutely should have been caught before I left the salon. And it's frustrating to pay that much you have to go pay again to get this fixed

After my hair appointment on 5/28, I just now received at least some sort of compensation on 8/19. (2 and a half months later, after weeks of trying to get a response from her by having to repeat multiple messages about my concerns and seeking resolution but not receiving communication back in a timely manner if at all). The way she handled this situation reflects extremely poorly on Rarity Salon, and makes the standard of customer care at this salon questionable. As her client who got a service done from her, I don't feel I received the level of customer service I should've on top of her making it extremely difficult to communicate and get a response from her, especially for what I paid which was $340 for little to no visible change, my roots not being done, and patchy/uneven areas. I had previously got my hair done by Molly in January and was content with my experience so I returned on 5/28 for a hair color change. After showing pictures and discussing what I wanted , Molly told me this was achievable with a bleach wash (over Instagram dm messages which I have). However at the end of the appointment my hair color clearly did not change much and after paying, Molly told me how we may need multiple sessions to get the color I wanted and gave me her phone number to communicate with her. A couple of days later after trying to see if the color settled differently, I sent her a text about my concerns of there being little to no change to the color of my hair, but also my roots still being the same as if they weren't done, and some patchy areas. I sent this message with pictures of my hair to show her on 6/2 and I didn't get a response back until 6/22. I also sent messages about following up in between that time. In her reply on 6/22 she mentioned how this message "got lost" in her text thread, and that we can work on getting the color I wanted in future appointments, but no compensation was provided and I felt unsatisfied with this considering the result I got and her not being transparent about the multiple sessions in the first place. I told her I understand color change can be a process and it mignt not be exactly what I showed her, but at this point I was expressing my concerns and asking for at least coming in and redoing / a hair treatment since I didn't feel content with what I paid for. By the time she responded, I had my hair done from another hair stylist somewhere else since I had trips and events planned and needed it done, and I got the results I wanted. I asked for a couple minutes to talk multiple times so I can express my concerns and try to come to a resolution as she wasn't replying in a timely manner at all over text. My texts to her were on 6/23, 6/26, 6/29, and 7/9 with no replies. On 7/10 she proceeded to tell me to text her to chat. It was extremely difficult to communicate with her in this way. I sent another message on 7/10 still trying to express my concern and reach a fair solution. I got no response. Then after my message on 8/6, she replied on 8/7 that she is understanding of the situation and offered a partial refund. I replied essentially saying I agreed to the partial refund. I was still waiting for this to be completed. After another week passed and still not receiving anything from her, I texted her again on 8/14 and 8/18 to finally receive the $170 refund on 8/19. In my experience with other hair professionals, I have consistently received a much higher level of communication, professionalism, and customer service. This was my biggest issue because it was extremely difficult to get any response from Molly, and she honestly made the impression of ignoring the situation even to the point of blocking me from her stories on Instagram. The unprofessionalism on her part and the way this situation was handled by Molly reflects poorly on Rarity Salon.

Every appointment feels effortless, and I always leave feeling refreshed and confident. She's amazing with Sew in Extensions and will help you with every step including picking the color to help match your hair. I had never gotten a color treatment on my hair previously and wanted to prioritize a subtle lived-in color to start me off as I was a bit afraid of the grow-out process. I love the way our first appointment turned out and the color grew out amazing and blended so well even a few months later! My hair has also remained healthy and shiny even after all these months which I am immensely grateful about and it's because Miranda 100% knows what she's doing. When I asked to get a different stylist and explained how far I lived the receptionist told me no one was available. I asked to speak with the manager and both the receptionist and Alisha told me they are unable to give that information out. Both kept repeating "we are all self employed". Alisha's reason for "canceling" my appointment was because I didn't reply to her text which had asked for a picture of my hair goals. I pulled up the text thread which shows not just one reply but TWO that I sent to her. She denied ever receiving my messages. I did not receive a text or phone call from neither her or the salon, canceling my appointment. After reading the reviews on here, appointment canceling seems to be pretty standard for this place. Trust me, don't waste your time going here. What terrible customer service and poor reflection on the salon. I left completely having wasted my time and feeling very upset by the entire ordeal. What a couple of employees can do to a business, unbelievable. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.
