I love the time Liz took shaping my hair and telling me the best way to take care of it. She listened to me and customized a plan that could work with my time. Well, I don't think my stylist was exactly familiar with my type of hair.... My husband wanted to book me an appointment as a "pick me up", since ive been self conscious and struggling with my hair a bit recently. I went in for a curly set. Victoria was my stylist and she was very sweet. But I do think she was over did it with gel and creams. It's pretty heavy and feels awful, and it did not exactly work as a " pick me up". But the prices are amazing, and the staff is all very friendly. I just think perhaps I needed a more experienced hairdresser. I didn't end up visiting this salon, but I'm reviewing based on my experience while researching. I found a stylist, Iona, on TikTok and asked a simple question about her experience. Instead of answering, I was redirected to her page--which didn't address my question--and never received a follow-up. She did, however, later engage with another comment suggesting that having curly hair and attending beauty school equals "a lot of experience." That may be a starting point, but it's not a full qualification for someone seeking an experienced stylist. As a potential client, I have every right to ask about licensing and experience before booking. That's not disrespectful--it's doing due diligence. I also did some research and saw she was tagged in a recent Instagram post suggesting she may currently be working as a mentee. There's nothing wrong with that, but it does indicate she's still building experience, which doesn't align with what I'm personally looking for. If my questions caused offense, that's not my intention--but it's also not my responsibility to manage someone else's reaction to reasonable inquiries. I'm allowed to do my research and make informed decisions. The lack of direct communication and professionalism was a turn-off. Customer service starts before the appointment, and this interaction didn't leave a good impression. read more

Searched so long online for a curly hair stylist that was accepting new clients, had availability within approximately a month, and wasn't charging $300+ for a haircut. I found The Classic Curl Salon and specific mentions of Emmily being great and so I booked a haircut with Emmily on The Classic Curl Salon's website. Right before I left for my appointment, Emmily text me letting me know she was running behind and I didn't mind at all because she told me in advance and I know things happen! When I walked in the salon, it was bright and had a cheerful vibe and I was immediately greeted by Emmily. She didn't rush me at all and before I sat in her chair I was able to use their clean restroom in the back. Emmily had a great presence, was very social, pleasant, collaborative, a great listener, and it was immediately obvious that she's very experienced and knowledgeable. Just by looking at my hair she could tell what had been done to my hair previously both cut-wise and color-wise. I showed her a couple pictures for inspiration and she understood exactly what I wanted in my haircut and worked so quickly achieving exactly what was in the pictures shown! In addition, Emmily advised me on hair products to try for styling to achieve some different results and for hair growth and scalp nourishment as well. Emmily certainly knows how to cut curly hair, achieving shape, texture, and volume as well as how to style for bouncy beautiful curls. I came here to cut my hair after 5 years and booked Emmily. She was extremely welcoming and made sure I was comfortable with snacks, drinks, and the restroom before she started her process. She looked over photos with me for what I wanted and adjusted as she cut. She explained why she was cutting it and then gave me instructions on how to care for my type of hair. So happy with my experience here. Lilliana was prepared and did an excellent job listening to what I wanted and answering all the questions I had. It was obvious that she genuinely cared. She was incredibly sweet, took her time, and it felt like we were speaking the same (curl) language - I've never had that in a traditional salon. This was my very first time going to a curl specialist and getting a dry cut; the cut is beautiful and the curls are moisturized, defined, and really just living their best life. I'm brand new in the area and was having a difficult time finding someone who could cut naturally curly hair, let alone specialized in it, so I didn't hesitate to drive the 45 minutes to Folsom (a surprisingly charming town that I'm glad to have seen) when I heard a glowing review of "The Classic Curl Salon." I could not have been more delighted with the strangely different approach to cutting hair that Victoria used on my (badly in need of cutting) head of silver curls. And it looked terrific this morning despite walking the dogs in the rain last night and sleeping n it for 8+ hours! Assuming I can manage using the products and scrunching it myself after shampooing, I will happily make that drive on a regular basis to continue with Victoria because the cut looks great and feels just right. Okay so I haven't always loved my curls, mainly because I didn't know how to style it and I never got a proper haircut. I've always gotten a dry cut with my hair straightened. There are no good curly salons near me so I decided to venture out to Folsom to try this place. I was apprehensive at first but Tamara was so sweet and funny and made me feel at ease with the whole process. I spent about 3 hours there but it didn't feel like it. This salon should have way more than 1 five star view! I am totally in love with this super cute space. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful right when you walk in. I had my first curly hair cut with Aubrey the other day and she is the absolute best! She was welcoming, and made me feel at total ease the entire time. :-) I am a biracial woman so my curls like to act up (lol!) but she totally knew exactly what my hair needed and it turned out super beautiful! I've been going to Mikayla for my cuts for maybe 2-3 years now and I refuse to see anyone else! My natural hair is now the longest and healthiest it's ever been (it's definitely been a process) and I receive so many more compliments when I wear my hair down, even when it's straight. I appreciate how Mikayla takes her time with shaping my hair and cutting layers piece by piece, and always checks to make sure I'm happy before taking any more length off. I even messaged her outside our our appointments because I was having trouble styling my natural hair, and she took her time recommending some techniques and products that have made all the difference for me. I cannot say enough! I'm truly over the moon. Emmily cut and colored my 3a curls. I have never been to someone who TRULY knew how to cut curly hair and have been satisfied with my stylist for over a decade. Little did I know what I was missing! Best cut of my life! I was almost emotional walking out with a fully styled head of hair--I didn't need to ask for it not to be brushed but finger raked. Emmily knew. My hair can be a lot of work and is emphatically NOT soft, but walking out, my curls were defined, soft, shiny, and I could literally run my fingers through my hair... (which I don't do because it changes the umph more than I want, but today didn't). This was the best kind of magic. I don't have enough good to say about this experience. I have been to this salon three times. I was seen first by Aubrey, the owner, and then twice by a stylist named Emmily. My experience has been fantastic each time! They are super knowledgeable about curly hair and take the time to communicate in detail each step of the process. I get cuts and color (grey blending highlights) and I've been really pleased with the results each time. They have a cool thing where you can come and get really affordable- even free- trims between cuts. Also- everyone has been so kind and down to earth. The products they use are super nice too. You feel like you're getting a quality experience but in a comfortable and laid back environment. read more

I took my 8yo daughter here to get a haircut. She's had a few inches cut before at a other salon (Straight Up Curls), but it was so expensive and required a dextox before, so I didn't want to pay $300 for a detox + cut. I was recommended this place, since they cut children's hair. My daughter wanted her hair cut shorter, but the technician started off cutting it short and was very cavalier about just chopping off so much right away. By the end it was just a short haircut, it was uneven and even had one long curl left (I ended up cutting that at home). I waited a few days until I could do an at home wash to see how it looked, but was definitely uneven. I'm just really sad that nowhere in Sacramento area has either affordable curly haircuts, or ones that are affordable are mediocre. I think this salon may be what people are looking for, but we will probably keep looking. read more

I've been on the search for a real curl cut.......after years of having my hair wet, stretched and blow outs with product, I've finally found someone who took the time to assess my hair, texture and listen to what my concerns were. No judgement on cutting my own for the last few years since I became "gun shy" to go to a professional since it would only result in my having to grow it back out to make another attempt. Emmily was wonderful. Even after she gave me a dry curly cut, washed and maximized my curls, we took a little bit more hair off......I never felt rushed to have my appointment over, and she sincerely wanted to make it known we were in it together for the best outcome. We recently brought our daughter in for her first haircut ever and the stylist, Victoria, was a GEM! She was so kind and genuine and she patiently trimmed, washed, detangled, etc. my kids very, very long hair. The salon itself is quite nice, cozy without feeling too small at all and in a beautiful area.
