I called a different dentist in the same area just before ESD; and of course, encountered a rushed, unpleasant, rude receptionist who just needs a new job. Facility clean, dentist ran on time. I called the office to explain that I was told I would not be billed and they confirmed before my visit with the insurance company that both xrays were covered. Employee advised that the insurance company must have wrongly told their employee who checked my coverage prior to my visit. I contacted my Insurance company who checked their records/call logs-recordings and provided me a letter stating no one from the dentist office called prior to my visit to verify coverage. To top it off, I just found out Gentle Family Dentistry sent the bill to collections. I USE TO Think so highly of this business.

I scheduled back-to-back appointments for my husband and I, fully transparent about the fact that we would have our toddler with us. Was told that would not be an issue! My appointment was for 8 o'clock and my husband's appointment was set for 8:30. They came out to get him at 9. When my husband expressed concern about bringing our toddler back, without my appointment being done, he was told it would be fine. However, still feeling uncomfortable, he chose to reschedule--and was initially told that was acceptable. When I came out my appointment at 9:15, and didn't see my husband in the waiting room I inquired where he was? The receptionist told me that he had left because he did not want to bring the toddler back with him and that he can reschedule. When I inquired about whether or not he could pop back up now, since it was only 915, I was told no that his appointment was slated to end at 9:30 (even though he had just left the waiting area less than 15 minutes previously). The receptionist offered an appointment for Tuesday, and I said I could not accept it without conferring with him. When I got to the car and he said it would be OK, I called up to the desk and set the appointment. No issues. What we didn't expect was to have the new appointment canceled minutes after via text with the explanation that "Dr. Eric was unhappy that we lost an hour appointment on our schedule this morning" and that they needed to accommodate other patients on their waiting list instead. I did call and speak with the office manager, who basically informed me that I did not schedule back to back appointments instead, I scheduled staggered appointments which is different. She told me that Dr. Eric heard my husband say he was going to reschedule and heard the whole conversation and it was his call to make. As I explained to the office manager, when I spoke to the doctor at the end of my appointment, he made no mention he wasn't going to see my husband. I know it's a moot point because we won't be continuing with them anyway due to moving, but still--their response felt unnecessarily punitive. While we understand the importance of keeping a full schedule, patient comfort and flexibility should also be prioritized. Had we been informed upfront that rescheduling could result in cancellation, we would have made a more informed decision. Instead, we were left feeling dismissed rather than valued as patients. Professionalism and understanding go a long way in healthcare. Sadly, this experience left us questioning whether patient care is truly the priority here.

Not only did they get them in quickly but the communication that John provided to me was above and beyond the call of duty. He was professional, polite and clear about how much we would owe and walked me through paperwork. I definitely gave him a lot of work that day but he did it with a great attitude and a smile on his face. My daughter loved that she got a welcome gift and excellent service. So I told her about all the self inflicted, ghetto makeshift foolery I had affixed to my teeth to prevent me from having to come to the dentist during pandemic. (I call it Pandemic Panic when you go on Ebay to buy products for emergency fixes) Neither she or Dr. Davis made me feel any less of a person for doing so or even being in such bad dental health. Dr. Davis then devised a plan that could restore not only my physical health ( believe me, the damage I caused from not addressing issues certainly added to my already bad health condition) but also the beautiful smile I had before my health was even an issue. So then I met with his office manager, Ashanti and her assistant, Mariela, who broke down the cost of his plan of action and what my insurance would cover and what my financial obligations would be. They then offered to find available financial institutions who could assist me with my portion. Now, if you have your own resources or financial institution to use, you can do so as the accept CareCredit and other forms of payment. They even offer their OWN dental program and payment plans!!! They REALLY work with you and the office is SOOOO CHILLL and relaxing and booked and busy that I started to feel like it's a " in thing" to just roll up to the dentist real quick and get a little adjustment or whatever and bounce.....like, is THIS the place to be?? I mean, young and old are just up in there like they coming to visit family...You hear giggling and laughing and jazz playing in the speakers... I mean....I'm certainly not scared to come see him anymore and I've been consistent now since April!!!! Every month, for root scaling and all kinds of invasive procedures to try to restore my gum health in preparation for a big dental surgery....and you know what?? While I STILL have my phobia of needles, Dr. Davis ( at this point I feel like he's my uncle‍ don't ask me why, but I finally TRUST him like a family member and that's BIG coming from an abuse survivor) I believe has rid me of my dentophobia so I PRAY he stays in practice so I won't have to test this theory out with anyone else.
