This morning, my daughter was unwell and still sleeping, so I called the office to see if I could reschedule my appointment -- not cancel -- because I didn't feel right waking a sick child and bringing her into a dental office. The woman who answered the phone, Emily, was extremely rude and unkind. I was immediately told I would be charged a $50 fee, despite explaining the situation and that I was simply hoping to move the appointment. When I asked about rescheduling, I was told the earliest availability wouldn't be until the end of January, which was surprising since I was told just the day before that there was plenty of availability. I apologized multiple times and explained that January was too far out given the pain I'm experiencing and that I'd need to call back. The response was a curt "okay, sounds good," followed by the call being abruptly ended. Compassion and understanding go a long way, especially when patients are in pain and dealing with sick children. Unfortunately, this interaction lacked both. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

I was looking for a dentist in Easton and found Eastern Shore Smile Solutions. It is a much bigger office. I have had some good work done there - fillings, root canals, crowns. Almost always a different hygienist. Some are much better and more thorough than others. I think this is office is okay. I am sure there a better ones and probably a few that are worse.

In trying to make sense of their statements, we found many errors and quite a few claims that had never been submitted to our insurance for payment. The quality of care was fine, for the most part (I agree with some other older comments regarding dentists other than Dr. Hiers); however stretching checkups from every six months to every 9 months (without mentioning that they were doing that, until I questioned it) wasn't acceptable, either. I was told it was due to a lack of hygienists. Lots of marketing comes from this practice; the funds could be put to better use retaining staff. And any medical office that calls appointments "reservations" and doesn't honor requests for "no appointment reminders" is one to avoid, in my opinion. So if you have dental insurance and still want to choose this practice, it'd be a good idea to keep a close eye on your claims.

They submitted the estimate to my insurance for $2500. The negotiated fee is $1050 from MetLife. I am responsible for some expenses not covered by my insurance but Aspen said I would have to pay the $2500. I canceled the rest of my work and will be going elsewhere! Obviously they know nothing about how insurance works. No one answers the phone and don't bother leaving messages, no one calls back!!!!

People are angry and upset and it sucks to be yelled at. BUT when someone like me comes in with a smile and polite, reasonable questions and they act like they want me to just shut up and leave them alone? I'm sorry, but that is your job. And my questions aren't stupid. When I'm paying hundreds of dollars (UP FRONT), I do want to know why. I have had an AWFUL experience at Aspen Dental. I'm wondering if their google reviews were paid bots because I can't imagine anyone raving about this place. First of all, their front office staff SUCK. They look at you and treat you with such contempt that you would even dare to bother them with checking in or asking any questions. Any question I asked made her look at me like I was the biggest idiot in the world and was simply wasting her time by existing. Background: I came in for tooth sensitivity after a crown was placed (by them) months ago. I go to check in, and the receptionist tells me my visit will be $150 - before I am even seen. This is all PREPAYMENT. Personally, I don't understand how they can tell me how much my visit will be if the dentist hasn't even looked in my mouth to tell me what I will need to do. I digress. I then ask why it will cost that much, as insurance should cover it. She answers, annoyedly, "for X-rays". I tell her I had X-rays just a few months prior during my previous appointment and would like to opt out. She stares at me, sooooo annoyed that I DARE not just shut up and give her my credit card. She looks over to another receptionist, silently waiting for the receptionist to feel her eyes on her and turn around. It was so awkward. She didn't even ask the other receptionist for help, she literally just stared at her back until she turned around. The other receptionist finally noticed and said, no, it's not 150 for X-rays, it's 107 for an appointment. I once again said insurance should cover it, and they once again dismissed me saying I was wrong. I felt MAJORLY judged and awful about even asking, so I finally handed over my credit card against my better judgement. After sitting down in the waiting room, I got the courage to walk up and tell her I really think there has been a mistake. I have my insurance information right here if she wants to look at it. Once again, nope, I'm an idiot. I ask for an itemized receipt and she looks at me like she wishes I would drop dead right in front of her. She gives me the most confusing receipt in the world from ALL of my visits ever to the dentist, not just this one. I sit down to read it, and finally decide to trust my gut and cancel my appointment. I go up to cancel and tell her I would like my money back and to cancel my appointment because I am uncomfortable with the situation as it should be covered by my insurance. I told her I would like to sort out things with my insurance before I pay that price. She cancels and tells me I will see a return in 5 business days. Whatever, awful experience but I leave. Now it has been over 2 weeks since I requested my money back. Nothing back. I call and each time they tell me they have to wait for their manager to come in to do anything about it. I ask when their manager will come in and they say they can't give out that information. Bruh. I never make reviews like this, but I am at my wits end. They don't even ask for my name when I call. That's how little they care to solve the problem. I called my insurance and yes it should have been free. I went to a different dentist after this bad experience and yes, it was free. I don't even understand WHAT Aspen charged me for. All exams should be free under my insurance. So they lied somewhere and scammed me for money.

They suggested a root canal, however they could not do it in the office. I would have to wait and travel to Annapolis. When I said lets just pull the tooth. I can't deal with the pain. I was then told they would try to get me to an oral surgeon. They could not do it in house. I was told to take ibuprofen for the pain. When I explain that wasn't helping it was suggested that I add tylenol in between. I was in tears while paying out. The secretary staff did try to call around and get me help. They could see how much pain I was in, however they could not find anyone that could take me same day. I got in my car I called around and thankfully found someone else that could see me. They got me in right away. They listen to me and were so kind. I was informed not only was the tooth infected but I had an acute abscess. That is why I was in so much pain and the gum was so swollen. They drained were able to open the tooth to relieve the pressure and immediately called in an antibiotic. My experience in Dr. Soulati's only served to increase my reservations about the dentist. I shutter to think what would have happened, had I not found care elsewhere. I would not recommend this dentist. I would like to say thank you to the ladies that were upfront that did their very best to help me. Thank you for caring!

I was told that one tooth needed to come out right away. After meeting with the dentist I was told that two needed to worked on. Dr. Hill explained the practice preferred to see the childen alone without parent present. I agreed to the cost of $500 for both teeth. The dentist explained that that when we returned for the appointment if there was no pain with the second tooth they would address the primary problem. I took my grandson on 2/20 for the appointment. I explained there was no pain with the second tooth and paid the $500 for in the event both teeth need to be worked on. They took Aiden to the back and extracted his tooth and worked on the second tooth that no longer had pain. They charged me $918 from my checking account without my permission. I agreed to $500. There was no call prior to charging my account. What seemed like a dentist that cared about my child only cared about money. When I called to discuss the issue the practice didn't return my call. I had to call three days in a row. Dont use this practice. You can be a great dentist but if you have a lousy front office staff that scheme your money it really hurts because they take advantage of your kids being in pain. We are fair people who pay our Bill's but this was horrible. They took advantage of Aiden being in pain.
