After years of just accepting my vision was as good as it could be and my prescription was what it was ,I decided to seek out an eye glass store that specialized in progressive lenses. As a type 1 diabetic for 40 yrs my vision has suffered. Ive had several eye surgeries and ive been seeing the same retina specialist for many years. Ive been complaining about an issue for some time now and im always told "youre retinas are fine, nothing more we can do" I had an eye exam by Dr. Nathanson at Luxe that revealed i did in fact, have a serious issue. He was very thorough, took his time with me and listened to me descibe what i was seeing. Im so grateful, moving forward, the eye requires a serious surgery. Heather was my initial experience at Luxe. She helped me navigate the different lenses they offer and explained in detail how each one would provide a slightly different view. Not a pushy salesperson, a delight to work with. The customer service at Luxe is outstanding from the moment you enter. The exam is state of the art. i was blown away by my experience at luxe optique! i stopped in because i was looking for some reading glasses but didn't know where to start since i'd never worn glasses before. mikey was incredibly helpful and was able to fit me in for an eye exam with their on-site optometrist on the spot. he was very knowledgeable, transparent and clear about pricing, and a pleasure to speak with. in less than an hour i walked out with a new prescription and a brand new pair of glasses on the way to my apartment in brooklyn where i live. can't recommend enough! read more

I have purchased lenses and taken glasses for repair to Luxe Optique on Main Street in Beacon on a half-dozen occasions. Each time, the experience has been unusually positive - I have only good things to say about this place. What has been striking is the high level of professionalism demonstrated by every employee I have ever encountered in the store - lamentably, most customer-facing businesses today no longer seem to appreciate or understand professionalism. Every person I've dealt with in the store has been unfailingly polite, attentive, pleasant and most of all, responsive. The on-site optometrist has on two occasions worked miracles with trashed frames. On one occasion, the frames were so damaged that they needed offsite repair - they came back on time as promised and the frames were better than new. The manager of the Beacon store is a gentleman named Mikey. While in the store for a repair of fragile wire-frame glasses a few weeks ago, he welcomed the chance to discuss his store and asked me numerous questions about my wants and needs for eyewear, even mentioning a few options that he doesn't offer. He spent a lot of time with me, despite knowing that I am not currently in the market for new frames. On balance, he demonstrated a level of customer service and care that is orders of magnitude better than what is found in most retail establishments (and, of course, totally unlike the on-your-own, Wild West experience of online purchasing). And again, he has his staff very well trained. Very good place - Beacon is lucky to have it. read more

Fearing high costs kept me away from Luxe Optique. A first time buyer, and a performer I needed however the carefully tailor my glasses. Doesn't everyone? Meaning, I wanted meticulous service. I couldn't afford a hasty exam, nor generic trendy eyewear. My glasses had to be unique. I am not unique with this demand Luxe provided a thorough exam for $35. They also worked to find glasses I could comfortably wear without making a spectacle of myself The examine, lens, frame, warranty all may cost more than the online and chain brands. Not by much! I love this place! The selection of frames is unique and fun. I've bought two pairs of glasses here (Christian Roth & Alain Mikli) and contacts. I actually broke my first pair of glasses & with the one year warranty got a new pair of frames. I've also had eye exams here which are fast & priced very competitively. My husband and myself just had a few visits at Luxe Optique for him to get new lenses in his old frames and also new frames and lenses. There is nothing comparable in the Albany, Greene or Columbia county area. You are able to get your eye exam, an amazing choice of frames and most importantly great detail in choices of lenses and lens protection plans. But what was really great was the service and attitude. Both Robert and Adrianna were knowledgeable, helpful and they are selling a product and service but I felt like they were also looking out for our best interest. They were also charming, friendly and we enjoyed our experience there. We briefly met Ryan and he has a good aesthetic and knowledge about their different product lines. Here are the downsides: 1) They were shady and evasive when I asked ahead of time whether they took my insurance (they do not, but it took several attempts to get them to admit this) 2) They tried to trick me into paying for a separate exam for contact lenses, even though I told them I don't wear contact lenses. Ever. 3) The on-site optician has some interesting attitudes about certain minority groups. read more

I went based on great reviews but was turned off and disappointed from the start. Two half full wine bottles and plastic cups on the narrow counter at noon were pretentious and silly. I was offered wine, my companion was not. The helper assigned to me was no less of a hard sell trainee than those at the biggest mall store that I was wanting to avoid....over solicitous and insincere, and manipulative. The "schitck" was practiced and insulting. We started with my budget and my needs. I was brought many frames to try and worked to narrow down the options, trusting my budget was being considered because I had been clear - NOT. The frames we liked best were more than 3 times my budget..and oh yeah, I should really only consider the super lenses $$$$. Then came the heavy sell when I rejected that. I was told that I was 'running out of time for insurance' - NOT a factor for me. They are "experts" and Warby Parker and others, whose "frames break right away" are not - NOT SO based on my experience and it was clear that they feared I'd defect to a strong competitor. Then I was told my current frames were outdated. REALLY? The less expensive frames from the other room started to appear, still beyond my buget and also less attractive which I now suspect was intentional. A second associate was called on to give an opinion, which was always very, very considered, and at that point almost certainly fake. so like LC at the mall. It was easy to see parallels. Also like LC they were determined to not let me leave without a sale. As we was preparing to leave I conveniently learned about the "special package" that fit my budget exactly - Amazing. FAIL Smiles faded and sullen attitude saw me to the door. I went in hopeful and open but was more than ready to leave early on yet my companion and I played along chuckling and knowing there would be no sale, amused at the tatics and not so subtle, aggressive and ramped up tactics used as they worked to convince me to spend $2200+ for frames and lenses with an uncomplicated prescription. Was no one listening when I mentioned my budget or said I got new glasses once a year so longevity was less of a factor? Did anyone care ? I came away annoyed and insulted at the attempted manipulation, and disrespected - as if given more time and more push I could be convinced to over spend or at the very least - spend. UGH. My suggestion to potential customer is BEWARE and be prepared, and for the store, do away with the pretense, eliminate the "experts" who act like car salemen desperate for a commission, eliminate the escalating sales tactics. If you LISTEN to and RESPECT your customers and are sincere they may return. If a sale is clealy your most important goal, they probably wont, I won't. read more

I have now been a customer here for about two years, although today was the first time I utilized their in house optometrist. I STILL can not say enough good about the whole team here. It is very clear, from the moment you walk in until you leave, that every employee is very well trained and extremely good at what they do. Beyond that, they are always going the extra mile to ensure you're completely satisfied. From making sure I had hot coffee, to ensuring my now TWO YEAR OLD sunglasses fit me perfectly. I'm sure I could have spent less at some god awful lens crafters in a mall or a Walmart, but the extra money I've spent on the products that they recommend has already yielded me a net savings over buying cheap products that would have (and have in the past) fallen apart in my work environment. Go to Luxe, listen to the staff and you WILL thank me. read more

I went here with my own frames because I couldn't find any frames that match my style. As soon as I walked in I felt luxurious. The staff at this location was top notch and their customer service matched as well. I will be sending everybody to this optical location for their eyewear needs. It's refreshing to not be treated like chain optical places treat their customers. This place does not try to nickel and dime you and they literally want you to be comfortable at all times. I could only be so lucky to work for the owner of this location. What can I say that already hasn't been said... Absolutely positively the best best best group of people running the salon. I went in for one pair of glasses and came out with three pairs. I am not the easiest prescription to fill and anywhere else I have gone, they have said basically "Get used to them" - Oh noooo... Not Ryon and his crew! Two of my glasses needed to be remade - not their fault by any measure, again... My prescription and eyes tend to be funky and not the easiest to adjust. NO ISSUES... They fixed the prescriptions and I am in heaven. Unfortunately one of the pair of glasses was hitting my bridge too deeply and caused a lot of irritation - no biggie, said Ryon - "Let's find you a pair with a shallow bridge" - so, not only did they fix my prescription, but they let me exchange a pair of glasses for a new pair with a shallow bridge. Never ever have I experienced anything like this. I have the best and oh so funky transition glasses, computer glasses which far surpass any I have ever had and now just waiting for my final pair. Great customer service! I broke one of the eyeglass nose pads and went there hoping they could help. After they searched for the correct part not only did they find the correct screw but they replaced both pads and fit them on my face, all free of charge! Ryon and Laurie the best, they knew what would suit me the best from the moment I sat down. Their knowledge of the eye wear is incredible. I was pleasantly surprised to see the staff care of how good I looked in the eyewear and take their time to find the right pair for me! They made me feel like they cared for me. My husband and I love Lauri and her great team at this chic eyewear boutique. They opened just last summer and they are already a go to place for us to shop for eyewear.
