As a type 1 diabetic for 40 yrs my vision has suffered. Ive had several eye surgeries and ive been seeing the same retina specialist for many years. Ive been complaining about an issue for some time now and im always told "youre retinas are fine, nothing more we can do" I had an eye exam by Dr. Nathanson at Luxe that revealed i did in fact, have a serious issue. He was very thorough, took his time with me and listened to me descibe what i was seeing. Im so grateful, moving forward, the eye requires a serious surgery. Heather was my initial experience at Luxe. She helped me navigate the different lenses they offer and explained in detail how each one would provide a slightly different view. Not a pushy salesperson, a delight to work with. The customer service at Luxe is outstanding from the moment you enter. The exam is state of the art. The Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Program arranged an appointment for me with Dr…read more Daniel Ahn for cataract surgery consultation on August 31, 2026, at 2:45 PM. I confirmed this appointment on August 24, 2026, at approximately 2:13 PM and advised that the appointment had been arranged through the VA Community Care Program. I subsequently received a reminder telephone call from Horizon Group confirming the appointment. On August 31, 2026, I traveled approximately 20 miles to the appointment location and arrived prior to my scheduled appointment time. Upon arrival, I completed approximately five pages of intake paperwork. I was then interviewed by a technician who reviewed my medical history, medications, and eye condition and performed multiple diagnostic tests. This process took approximately 25 minutes. After the evaluation was completed, I was informed that Dr. Daniel Ahn would see me shortly. When Dr. Ahn entered the examination room, he immediately advised that he would not perform the surgery and stated that he does not perform surgery for Veterans Administration patients because the VA does not pay him. I asked whether the VA had been notified that he would not provide services under the Community Care Program. Dr. Ahn indicated that he would send a letter. At no point before my arrival was I informed that services would be refused. Had the practice notified either me or the VA in advance, I would not have incurred the unnecessary travel time and expense, nor would I have spent time completing paperwork and undergoing preliminary testing. The paperwork provided by the practice includes a provision assessing patients a $100 fee for cancellations within 24 hours of an appointment. In this case, the appointment was effectively canceled by the provider after I had arrived, completed paperwork, and undergone preliminary evaluation. I request reimbursement for my travel expenses and compensation equivalent to the cancellation fee imposed upon patients. My estimated damages, including travel, tolls, and the wasted appointment, total $250.

Dr. Powell adroitly fitted me with a scleral lens. Today I can see 20-25 (and 2 letters on the 20-20 line), almost perfect with my left eye! Moreover, Dr. Powell treated me with kindness, compassion and professionalism. She took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I always felt at ease when in her care. She also has a good sense of humor. It's because of Dr. Powell that I have my vision back; needless to say I am eternally grateful to her. Similar issue two years ago, had to call after three weeks only to find glasses had come in ten days before , but no one bothered to inform me. The…read moredoctor gave me a contact to try in my left eye on a Friday to try out ( different from my regular brand) , i wore them Saturday and noticed my eye feeling irritated, and the contact didn't feel right. I gave it another try that Sunday. On Sunday evening my eye was getting worse. When I removed the contact and put on my regular glasses I read the contact package. I discovered the contact EXPIRED July 2022. The Contact I was given was OVER 4 YEARS OLD! I call the Dr's office Monday and spoke to Vivian who stated " the representative of the contact distributor checks the dates and it's not the Doctor or Staff. Really? So Patients Beware THEY DO NOT CHECK FOR EXPIRED CONTACTS!!! i had to see another Dr....ASAP in another practice who had to examine my eye for infection.Thank God my eye only had severe irritation and I had to place the drops several times a day in my eye.
