In late 2024, my boyfriend and I purchased several pieces, including a diamond ring of significant value from Arden's that was represented as approximately 2.66 carats, SI1 clarity, and H color. The ring was accompanied by an appraisal prepared by a GIA-trained gemologist. Given the magnitude of the purchase, I later submitted the ring directly the to the official GIA offices in NYC for independent grading. The official GIA report identified the center stone as I1 clarity and J color--materially different from what was represented at the time of sale. To preserve integrity, I retained the stone in its sealed GIA packaging with full chain-of-custody documentation. I approached Arden's and requested that the sealed package be opened in their presence so the findings could be reviewed together. The owner refused to review the GIA report, declined to examine the sealed package, and would not engage in any discussion. The interaction was dismissive and defensive, and I was told he would not speak with me further on the matter. Given the substantial discrepancy in grading, the significant financial value involved, and the refusal to review independent documentation, I have been left with no reasonable path toward resolution. This matter now requires formal action, including filing complaints with appropriate regulatory and consumer protection authorities and pursuing legal remedies for material misrepresentation. I gave Arden's Jewelers a clear opportunity to review independently verified, sealed GIA evidence and address this professionally and confidentially. That opportunity was declined.
