They safely moved an extremely heavy marble table without issue, and at the very end of the move we asked them to maneuver a very large, heavy dresser through a narrow hallway in our newly renovated home. They somehow managed to do it safely without damaging the walls, floors, or furniture. I was honestly amazed watching them work. What stood out most was their attitude throughout the entire process. Even when delays and complications came up outside of their control, they stayed calm, solution-oriented, and hardworking the entire day. I almost wished they would take longer breaks because of how nonstop they worked. They were also very transparent about pricing, which was fair, and communication throughout the process was excellent. Also, please feed your movers during lunch and ask if they have any allergies or dietary restrictions. This crew absolutely deserved it. I had a couple old furniture pieces I didn't want anymore, and they also helped with removal for a fee. On moving day, Peter and Antonio arrived right on time and wrapped everything in blankets. We had a big king mattress and bed frame along with a 3-seater couch, many tables and chairs, dressers, equipment, and loads of medium/large sized boxes. They did take a well deserved lunch break between the 30 min drive from my old place to my new place - and i'm not sure whether this was on my billable time. I have moved several times in the last five years and always used movers. I may not want (or even be able) to do it on my own, but I know what it should look like. And this was not it. I asked for two movers. I moved out of a 1 bedroom apartment and I didn't even take all of the furniture with me. Three movers showed up. I was worried they would charge me extra but they kept the two man rate. And rightly so because the third guy hardly did anything at all. As for the other two, one was a very hard worker and was busting his butt, but the second guy was much slower and did a lot of delegating to the first guy. It took them nearly 4 hours to get my already packed things loaded onto the truck. In addition to being slow, they also seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Most movers cover your furniture with blankets and wrap it up to protect it. These guys wrapped it in plastic wrap, if at all. I still don't understand how that's going to protect my desk if they drop it. And when it came to moving the couch, they acted like they'd never moved one before! They kept complaining about how heavy it was. I had to explain three times that it was a sleeper sofa and that they should probably take the cushions off before they move it. I've had the same couch for years, no other movers ever had any trouble with it. And to top it off, they were incredibly careless with all of my boxes. Even the ones labelled in big red marker as "FRAGILE!" and "GLASS/FRAGILE!!!!". Several of my boxes were crushed because they put the heaviest boxes on top of the lightest ones. I've never been so concerned for my belongings during a move. When it came to unloading the truck into the new place, they were just as slow! Only the one guy was actually trying to get my stuff in the right room in a timely manner. At hour 7 (for a 1 bedroom apartment's worth of belongings, mind you) I asked them if they were nearly done and when they would be wrapping up. It was really starting to worry me how slowly they were going, were they trying to price gouge me because it's an hourly rate? It sure seemed like it!! Once I asked this question, the two less helpful guys became incredibly rude towards me. (Again, the third guy was super nice and professional, and he was the only one actually working hard) It was just a very stressful, unprofessional experience. When I moved 1 year ago with the same stuff, 2 movers got the whole move done in less than 5 hours. And that included a 60 minute drive. This time, it took nearly 8 hours. And to top off the whole day, they broke part of my couch!!! And instead of telling me about it, they shoved the broken piece into the bottom of an open box and left it there for me to find. From my first move I actually made an excel sheet to compare pricing. I used the same excel sheet and started calling for pricing to see what the best rates would be. Every single place I called had an increase in cost, even they offered any kind of Yelp promo or if you paid with cash. Some places were charging about $100+ per hour, service fees, not including shrink wrap, pretty much would be charged for everything and could possibly spend up to $400+ for a less than 7 mile move with 2 bedrooms, minimal furniture, and mostly pre-pack and do majority of the move would be done by my roomie and I. With all that being said, I never gave up and kept calling different companies. I'm so glad I was patient and stumbled across Movers LA. Their pricing is super fair ($85 per hour if you pay cash)! I can't applaud James and his crew enough. I was given a time frame between 2-5pm. James called me around 3:30pm to confirm that he'll arrive around 4pm and he got here 4pm sharp! They were super efficient, got the job done in less than 4.5 hours and our new place is all stairs. They are the best, I highly recommend them!!
