I've been going to this take-out since the mid-90's!! I treat myself every so often to either their General Tso's or Roast Pork Lo Mein although I've had all of their specials over the course of decades. Trust me when I say, I've tried the General Tso's from about a half dozen other take-out places in the area. A-Woks is still the best!! Even after all these years!! The service is fast and you get a lot of food for the price! All the soups are great and I never know which one I want until I get to the counter. I've seen their kids grow and are now taking orders and helping to run the restaurant. Give them a try. You won't be sorry. read more

I didn't enjoy the food at all. I read the rave reviews and ordered general Tso's chicken, chicken lo mein, egg rolls (spring rolls), and chicken fried rice. The sauces that are used on general tso and chicken lo mein is dark, thick, and sweet like syrup. It was so sweet that if I didn't order it, I wouldn't have know what it was. The chicken fried rice and chicken lo mein...where's the chicken? It was so little chicken in the containers that I thought they messed up my order. There were 3 small pieces of broccoli in my GT chicken container (I counted). The eggs rolls are spring rolls and so thin and greasy. I've not been this disappointed in takeout in some time. None of it was good or tasted fresh. but I will say, it may be best for after the club or bar. This is late night, after hours food because I can't imagine eating it for lunch or dinner. Also, if you go in to order, no matter how busy their are- I've ALWAYS gotten my food in less than 15 minutes! Their Vegetable Egg Rolls = out of this world!! They are my absolute favorite! The owner and his sons are very, very sweet. This little carryout joint is always busy because they make really good food!! My favorite here is the 'Roasted' pork fried rice, and egg rolls. I always order heavy-laden meat dishes, and I have been trying less saturated fatty dishes, so 1 day ago, I ordered the Szechuan bean curd to try something new. I am HIGHLY surprised how DELICIOUS it was, and will definitely be ordering from them again. They are good people, and I am thankful for them and will be back. This is hands down the best Chinese food in Northeast Ohio. Everything from the quality of the food to the price makes A-Wok untouchable against any other Chinese restaurant. The food comes out almost as fast as you order it. This food is so good that my mouth is watering just typing this review. WOW! This place is really good! For so long I accepted mediocre Chinese food as the standard. This food is very tasty. I mean I almost made a "mmmmm..." noise. Thumbs up! It is a little pricey. My wife and I stopped in Saturday evening. I had my usual Shrimp & Brocoli and she had the Pork Mai Fun. We got the steamed dumplings this time instead of crab ragoons (got to switch it up every now and then but both are AWESOME). Prices are reasonable and the portions are quite large. The lunch specials are fantastic. Used to come 2 - 3 days a week when I worked right around the corner. Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Akron/Canton area. Been coming here for the past 15 years and despite moving to North Canton in 2010 I still make the drive to A Wok if I'm in the mood for some good Chinese. This restaurant is filthy! Seems to be primarily take out. I walked to the counter and placed my order before I sat down and realized how disgusting the dining room was. Without exaggeration I doubt they washed their floor in over a month. Had I sat down first, I would've left before ordering. Before I knew it the waitress brought my egg drop soup. It was fluorescent yellow!! I took one taste and it was slimy and gross. When the waitress brought me my entrée I asked her about the color of the soup. She responded they use food coloring. Indeed it was the yellow orange food coloring LOL. Why? They do not serve brown rice so I had vegetarian broccoli with noodles. It was drenched an overly sweet brown sauce. I had a few bites because I was hungry in a hurry and just left. Terrible dining experience. read more

I go to school not too far away from this place and I like to go there like every other weekend. I went there is past Saturday and ordered their peppered steak. It was good but was somewhat under seasoned. Their lunch combos come with soup instead of an egg roll. And for that reason I find them to have the BEST egg drop soup ever. Came to Akron for business looking for a nice Chinese takeout to bring back to my hotel. Looked all over, thought about pf Chang's but wayyy too expensive. This place though, WOW! I came in and placed my order, if it wasn't done within five minutes. I walked out with a smile on my face and all the soy sauce my purse could hold. While I waited for my food, the phone was ringing off the hook with to go orders. They were putting out to go orders and my order within minutes. I'm sitting at my hotel three hours later and my food is still warm and still delicious. If I ever come to Akron again I will only come here.!!! read more
