Worth it a hundred times over. You cannot beat the quality and quantity at this establishment's price point. We had an amazing waitress who was just on point with all our needs even after she was given a 25-person table once our group of 4 was seated. I can't even begin to describe the food as it was exactly what it looked like and what we wanted. In my mafaldine al tartufo avec jambon a la truffe d'ete, it had the perfect amount of truffle and saltiness - especially with the jambon topping. The moules a la creme and moules pasta was bountiful and fresh. The fresh brick-oven-cooked pizza was outstanding and also deserving of equal praise. Had dinner here and it was okay. I had the entrecote and my husband had mussels. We also started with the fritto misto which was not bad. The steak was all right and my husband loved the mussels. I did like that they did have a great Belgian cherry beer...that was delicious. It was nice sitting outside and the waiter was fairly efficient although a little indifferent. I was here for an early dinner the first time I was in Paris. I heard it was supposed to be pretty good. I got the pot of mussels and they were decent, but not great. I generally enjoy mussels and there wasn't anything wrong in particular with these, but there also wasn't anything noteworthy about them. The flavor of the soup was fine. The restaurant was pretty empty when I got there, but it filled up relatively quickly. The waiter spoke decent English and was pretty friendly. I think in terms of value, there's definitely other places in Europe that offer quality food at a cheaper price. I would be willing to try this place, but not sure if I would come again. read more

I have been coming here since 2003. Moules (mussels) is what they are all about. Léon's has been my standard to comparing steamed mussels every where else. A large pot of mussels steams with butter, white wine, garlic and herbs. Devine. My other favorite dish is moules escargot. Mussels arranged on an escargot plate steaming in butter and garlic and blanketed with melted Parmesan. This requires almost a half baguette to sop up the juicy goodness. It's also served with a small bucket of French fries. 18€. I did get a chance to taste the curry mussels- they were nice. In the summer I recommend the large enclosed seating out front so you can people watch on the Champs-Elysées. Inside seems huge compared to most European restaurants. read more

A pot of Mussels simmered in a lovely broth of delicious creaminess!!!... this is exactly what the doctor ordered *wink* I came in and got myself settled comfortably on a table good for four, the place is pretty spacious and could easily accommodate a big group, even with the language barrier I managed to order what I came here for - The Delicious pot of Mussels! It was fantastic and definitely a must try if you happen to be in the area! Served with freshly baked bread I suggest ordering a pint of beer with it! It was definitely worth it! Saw this on my first night in Paris. My late husbands fave dish - Moules frites. Just had to have it. It is a 'tourist haven' located along the Champs Elysee boulevard. Waiters are friendly as they are used to tourists. I chose the fix menu of The authentic marieniere mussel casserole with fries and dessert of creme brulee. I remember my father in law saying that you should only eat mussels during the months with n R . Their peak season is around winter. No wonder the mussels I got were a bit small and the pot, even when full, didnt seem to satisfy my cravings. The frites made up for it as well as the creme brulee. So good! I also added a drink of lambik beer - Mort Subite.- refreshing drink! Good pairing with the mussels and fries. It was an ok dinner considering I was really hungry and it was the first thing I saw coming out of my hotel. Will definitely go to a better restaurant next time especially here in Paris. read more

Fish fish fish! Know for their mussels. It felt like the TGIF of Parisian seafood brasseries. I believe there are now 3 Lyons around Paris. The mussel were good. I opted for the curry broth. It was ok. A bit weak. Seemed like they were appealing to the masses verses bringing the flavor. A well used plastic bucket was place on the table for shells. The service was nice. I took my daughter into Leon de Bruxelles for a small bite of authentic Belgian frites, hot cocoa for my daughter, and a nice Belgian beer. On the menu this came to +20€, but after I ordered the waiter said the following.... "This is a restaurant, and you should order more than just this." Setting aside the fancy name, my evening dinner was riddled with poor and rude service, tasteless pasta, and slimy creme brûlée. Our waiter did not know good enough english to take my order and when the pasta arrived, no mussels were present on the dish- when i asked why he had told me that I wanted none of it. Of course, he had to oblige and took the order. When he came, the plate was not redone and rather, was topped off with yet another blob of overly cooked pasta with a side of mussels. I had to ask for bread, water; pepper, salt... You basically have to beg to be served, and they take forever to bring anything. I was not into big of a rush, and it was around three, so it shouldn't have taken this long for the food to come out and for me to be seated. It's not very crowded even. I got the mussels in tomato sauce with fries. It was fair, but what was kind of disgusting was that there was a random olive in one of the mussels... How did that get there... Must have been a careless kitchen because that is not OKAY! It is gross to have random bits of other dishes within one dish! Not cool. I sat outside and it is pretty pleasant. MOULES ORIGINALE LEON ET FRITES The coquotte of moules a la creme and fries were the plate. The mussels were tender, no sand, and the creme sauce is fantastic. The pot is quite big, and I was full from it! CREME BRULEE Semi sweeter than what I usually get. Good and light. WAFFLE AVEC ANANAS ET CREME FRAICHE yummmy. Just yummy. The waffle was light and crispy. Topped with coconut ice cream and whipped cream. Also comes with a small side of raspberry sauce. I liked that they did not pour the sauce all over my waffle, so i can control the amount of sweetness. SERVICE Exellente. Try to get a seat in the back. The seats in the front by the door gets cold and the huge line of people standing in line waiting to be seated can get very crowded. After shopping in champs elysee my husband and I were searching for a place to eat. We knew all the restaurants on this strip would probably be tourist traps ( considering most places we saw were pizza, pasta joints/laduree etc). We walked past this restaurant and the menu outside caught our eyes as we are both seafood lovers. This place is huge once you walked in, it definitely is a tourist spot with no local eating there at all. They even offer cocktail and martini (real french restaurants would serve wine only). They specialize in mussels with different types of broth for you to choose from. We ordered mussels in curry sauce and in garlic white wine sauce and both are very good with very generous amount of mussels. They also offer all you can eat fries!!! We saw people ordered waffles for dessert and they look really good, too bad we were too full to try.. In terms of service, the servers got their job done efficiently however i must point out that they all look really miserable, like they truly hate working there!!! I guess who can blame them when they have to serve tourists all day! Overall, for a chain that mainly serves tourists, this place is still 100 times better than any chain restaurant in the states. I love Léon de Bruxelles! It's conveniently located on Champs-Élysées in Paris where all the tourists hang out, which makes it easier for us. They specialize in mussels here and you can get it made with a number of different sauces: original flavor, curry, cheese, etc. etc. We decided to get it in the cheese sauce, the flavor was subtle enough and not too cheesy (so cheese fans, make sure you order it like this!) The Mister loved it so much that he was drinking all the liquid that was left at the bottom of the pot when we were finished with the mussels. I also liked the fact that it came with UNLIMITED fries, we were finished with our first batch, and our server kindly enough came back with two more baskets of hot, fresh fries for the both of us - we were potatoed out! Oh and the side of potato wrapped shrimp salad was delish! What I wasn't a fan of was the slow service, we were the only patrons that were out in the front of the restaurant while EVERYONE else was seated inside, no one was visible to us, we didn't see a host, we didn't see diners, we didn't see anyone. Visited this past September 2013. After a LONG day of site seeing and being tourists, we were starving, it was raining, and this was the closest restaurant in site. The restaurant was really busy and service was lacking. When we were seated, I skimmed through and picked smoked salmon with salad, pasta, and mussels. My two companions ordered pots of mussels with sides of fries. We waited around 30 minutes for the food. My meal was alright, the whole dish was cold- good portion size, but lacking in flavor. On the other hand, the mussel pots my companions ordered were both delicious! There was more than enough food. Our only mistake was we somehow ended up with bottled water instead of plain ice water (failed communication) and paid nearly 6 euros for the 1 bottle. I really, really wanted to like this place but sadly it did not live up to my standards of food in Paris and was mediocre. I got the Léon prix fixe deal with the mussels with Madras curry and crème brulée for dessert. My two cousins both got the tapas deal. For the mussels, I could barely taste that there was curry added, although overall it was a pretty good taste. The fries were kind of flavorless. The clams in my cousin's tapa dish were way too small, and she also complained that they gave her food poisoning afterwards. The crème brulée was pretty standard. We were on a search for Beef Carpaccio and Beef Tartare for lunch. We came across their advertisement in front if their restaurant for a lunch special (salad, entree and dessert) for 15,90 euro. The beef tartare looked different from what we were used to amd to what was advertised in the picture out front. The servers were friendly for the most part. Service was a little slow, but their menu did advertise that they'll serve you in 45 min if you're in a hurry. They give you a chilled bottle of water which was great since it was so hot out. read more

This review will be short and to the point .. If I had the option to give this place zero stars I'd immediately do it! While visiting Paris, my family and I decided on this place based on referrals from family members and friends; I wish we hadn't. The waiters would just look at us and walk away as if they acted as the restaurant was closed .. um rude. Let me just say we were starving, cold, and unappreciated so no happy campers that day. Our waiter finally attended to us after a good thirty minutes of pacing back and forth and tending to his other tables, our order was taken. Then as he went to go get our complimentary bread and pretzels, I saw him sneeze a few times INTO HIS hands and proceeded to touch the food and give it to us. For the rest of the meal, I felt grossed out and sick. And he never once went to go wash his hands during the time we were there! EW!!! I mean who does that especially if you're working in a restaurant .. Ugh I literally just wanted to up and leave the place but then I'd be out in the cold nowhere to go. Thinking about this place makes me sick and no wonder they have such bad reviews. When our food finally came out after what it seemed like hours, my appetite had left me and I was left sitting there staring at my order which wasn't even good AT ALL. I had ordered the Maroilles Cheese Styled Chicken, my brother got the Riviera Styled Mussel and I don't remember what my parents got but the only person who enjoyed the meal was my brother. To conclude: horrible service, unsanitary staff, and un-appetizing food brings me to give this place "zero" stars. The fries weren't so great, they were fine, but nothing to rave about. But it was surprisingly good especially given the chain-y type feel, and I was impressed by the fact that they didn't serve me a single dead/unopened mussel. I've been twice to this restaurant during different visits to Paris, and it is a really confortable, delicious spot if you're looking for something big and yummy. The wine is relatively cheap for the prices around the city and it is found right in the middle of Champs Elysées, so the location is amazing. I loved Leon when I ate here in 2000. Apparently a lot of things have changed since. I wanted to come back to Leon because of the super cool menu that showed 20-30 different varieties of broth that you could choose from, including photos of each kind of broth with moules in a coquotte. Now, you only have a choice of 7 varieties of broth for your moules and no more photos, but they have a pre-fixe option so I went with that. I had the saumon fume appetizer, moules mariniere, and the creme brule. Everything was good but not as great as I'd remembered. I'd still come back though, because it's a fun place to eat, although we had a pretty surly waitress who liked plunking things down on the table. I'm pretty sure she's been waitressing since she's 16 and hates her life (and smelling moules every day). read more

Been here many, many times over the past 20+ years. Usually, Leon provides a good overall dining experience for a tourist Champs d' ellyses restaurant. Not this visit. Although a busy Saturday early evening, the wait was short. However, afterwards the service was very sub-par. Waiting 15 minutes for our waiter. Not a good start. Then we ordered received our bottled water, opened, but not poured and we waited. Our beer and wine were nowhere to be found. After another 15 minutes our food order arrived, brought by another waiter even though our waiter was still at work. We asked him about our drink order and were surprised when he didn't understand why we hadn't received it. He went ho our waiter who then went to the bar, got our drinks and served us. What about mustard which is normally provided at time of service? Had to request. What about bread, also normally provided at time of service? Ask again. What about checking to see if the waste plate for shells, we had mussels as usual, needs to be emptied? Again, you had to request. Finally, we asked for our check, which again took 10 minutes to arrive. All this service was provided without a smile as someone, our waiter, most likely didn't want to be working that day. We paid. Unfortunately in France tipping is not the norm not required. There is s 13% charge from the bill that is for service. This was unfortunate as it prevented me from expressing my disappointment for the service. read more

We attempted ordering the three set lunch menu on display outside, but were told that it was "not available". Well... why is the sign outside then? At this point, we already felt kind of cheated. Oh well, we weren't that hungry anyway, so we just ordered a main course. We both ordered the hamburger as we felt like eating something ordinary with a twist (potato patties instead of bread). This was a mistake. First of, the old waitress seemed really impatient, horrible at English and managed to screw up our simple order. We waited for around 45 minutes until I received my burger and my girlfriend received an ugly looking tartar with a sallad as a side order. I have no idea how this happened. We explained the mistake, and were told we would get a new burger. This took around 30 minutes. Further, the sallad side-dish (just leaves in some horrible dressing with way too much mustard) was not replaced with fries and at this point we were too tired to even bother. We felt horrible having to pay for this lousy food and lousy service. I think this place only survives due to its location. In conclusion, horrible service from horrible staff. Terrible inedible food (dry burger, and ultra-mustard stenched cheap sallad leaves with one tomato slice). Way to expensive for what was provided. Avoid at all cost!
