    French toast

Busy space with a pretty solid steak frites. Our server was nice. The dessert was fabulous! We all ordered the same steak with different temperatures and everyone liked how it was cooked. It came with a sauce and I didn't actually get to choose one, but was provided with bernaise. I asked for the pepper sauce and it was pretty good, better than the other. The cheesecake was good and the French toast was very delicious. A large projection was playing the Olympics. We ate outside because it was a nice evening. If only we could get nonsmoking seating in Paris. Haha

The option i picked was really good. i had the MACARONI AU GRATIN which had ham and creamy white sauce with tuffle. This pasta I really enjoyed, its creamy of course but the cheese is not the sharpest but I really like it since of the truffle flavor. The snail here was with pesto sauce inside which was on good. First time having snails and it was a good experience eating it. I taste a piece of my partner duck and it was alright since the taste is not for me, I liked it but don't love it enough to keep asking her for what was on her plate. It looks like steak but not exactly same texture but similar vibe.

Le Compas has become our favorite spot on one of the best streets with the people watching and patio dining vibe! They have a great location and very efficient service! We've tried a range of dishes, and our favorite seems to be their pesto sauce muscles and onion soup! Although their best feature is the location and the vibe!

Went for Dinner Food - 2/5. Lamb was tender with a simple brown gravy. Taste was typical of brown sauces, being one note. Duck was a good medium well with a nice level of rendering on the fat. The sauce had a peppery kick and the aroma of allspice. The strong scent and sweetness paired well with the duck. Mashed potatoes were lackluster. It lacked creaminess that you would expect from a restaurant level mashed potato and the seasoning was the most basic; little butter with a pinch of salt. Service - 3/5. Most restaurants on this street are busy yet the service has always been attentive and friendly. It was not that they were rude, but their service style was too transactional; taking orders and delivering food without a word like a robot. Ordering in English was fine. Value - 1/5. It wasn't that the food is bad, but they are not at the quality you expect when you dine out. The flavor lacked the culinary finesse of a fine dining establishment or the rustic charm of a mom & pop restaurant. Visually, it resembled cafeteria food, having one color per plate; all having dull tones. The price was standard with entrees being in the 20€~s range and the portions were below average, serving just the protein with a side of mashed potatoes. They have a good corner location, but their food is way outclassed by all the other options in the area. Parking - N/A

This charming restaurant offered a Traditional French faire with a wonderful atmosphere for people watching. Our host was professional and patient and our server was adorable and so kind! Food was delicious and came out relatively quick. Thank you so much for also helping me tirelessly to booking a train ride! Xoxo

The YouTubers, Les Frenchies, recommended this place to us and we had a nice dinner even though we visited on a busy Friday night. We were seated immediately and our waiter lit up a candle for a very intimate dinner despite literally sitting inches away from the next table. My fiancee and I split their hamburger and chips. The flavor of their hamburger was very flavorful and the chips were plentiful. For drinks, I had a glass of champagne and my fiancee got their I Love Paris cocktail (tourist vibes, but still delicious). One star down for the price point as this was one of our more expensive dinners and we even shared an entree. Montorgueil is such a hip street at night though, so I'm sure the prices reflect the area appropriately.

The complimentary olives were a great way to start the meal. Escargot- Delicious! The snails were a nice size and flavorful. The bread was a bit hard though. (€16) Fries- They were good. When they ask if you want mayonnaise, say yes. It definitely made them taste better. Salmon Pavé- The salmon itself was tasty and cooked well, but the green beans were really the star of this dish. (€21)

The perfect place for an outdoor seat and people watching on a busy, popular street. You can grab a drink and sit for a while or get a nice little meal. We stopped here a few times during our visit and the fast was always quick and on it. Food was good, lots of options.

Wonderful food! Beautiful and sweet staff and delicious drinks! Came twice in our three day stay.

My wife and I were visiting from the US and enjoyed a great date night meal here. The food was excellent and just what we wanted for a night out together. The beef bourguignon was the best we had while in Paris. Prices were what you expect this was probably our favorite restaurant we ate at.

OMG!! First time in Paris for my retirement trip!! This was EXACTLY what I wanted for my first cafe experience. Located on the corner of a quaint street with several other restaurants and small shops. We (my husband and adult daughter) were able to sit comfortably in their tiny (compared to USA sizes) round table, oooolala so cozy. They even had blankets to cover your legs or lap to off set the morning chill. We chose to sit outside so I could people watch. But we were in for a treat as we saw many different breeds of dogs taking a stroll with their humans. ; ). The dogs were all so well mannered too! Service was spot on! Our server knew some English so it was quite helpful for our first of several revisits during our trip. Extremely attentive and friendly. We all loved the service. Food: wow, you first notice how much FOOD you get with your "set" breakfast! And compared to California costs, we ordered and ate and paid very little. We came back here for lunch and dinner on other days. Now your experience may differ with the different servers working. On our second breakfast visit, translation was a bit off so took a few time before the proper items arrived. But we still ate great food!! I recommend this place for its breakfast and experience. So relaxing and FUN!! If I go back to Paris, this is a place I will have my breakfast! Enjoy.

Prices seem reasonable for any large city. Most things around €20-30. We ate the onion soup which was delish. Followed by the Rigatoni and Croque Madame to share. Both excellent! For wine we selected the Chablis (Domaine sea Chaumes) & the Sancerre (Domaine Doudeau-Léger). Staff was great, we did go around 6pm on a Wednesday so it wasn't super busy. Lovely interior decor!

We sat here last year for a couple drinks. Decided to come back. Had a white wine with some french fries this year. The location of this restaurant is wonderful and every seat in the place has a nice view of the street. The waiters were incredibly attentive and very nice. Whenever we wanted anything they delivered it right away. While I had the sorbet, my fiancée went across the street and got Stohrer. She asked the waiter, before she went across the street if it was OK and he graciously said of course. Incredibly clean bathrooms on the main floor. we would recommend this for a nice rest of your legs and people watching.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

We started with the ratatouille and freshly baked bread, both simple but incredibly well executed and full of depth. The duck steak with roasted potatoes was perfectly cooked--the duck tender with a beautifully crisp exterior, and the potatoes were exceptional in their own right. The gambas flambées with rice were a standout dish: rich, aromatic, and genuinely memorable. Loud enough to feel alive without becoming chaotic. Nobody rushing. Nobody flipping tables. Just the rhythm of Paris doing what it's always done. The menu is entirely in French which, honestly, makes the experience better. You stop ordering with certainty and start ordering with curiosity. My wife had the risotto d'épeautre aux St. Jacques. I ordered the Magret de Canard au Romarin. The duck was solid. A 3.5/5 kind of dish. Rich, savory, comforting after a long day walking through the city. But the risotto surprised me more. The scallops were delicate, the spelt added this earthy texture that made the dish feel substantial without ever becoming heavy. And then there's the mousse au chocolat. The famous one. Served from an oversized bowl with this almost excessive "all you can eat" energy that somehow still feels elegant instead of gimmicky. We only needed a few bites. Soft, luxurious, lightly bitter chocolate balanced perfectly against just enough sweetness. The kind of dessert that doesn't ask for attention. It quietly earns it.
