Stumbled upon L'Atlas as we were walking around in the neighborhood & decided to eat our first dinner in Paris here! L'Atlas is a brasserie that has mostly seafood on their menu, but still has a few non-seafood options like steak/ veal. This neighborhood is very lively + all of the restaurants in this area seem busy. We were here for about 2 hours 11pm-1am and there was still people coming in to eat. Being my first time in France, I was a little anxious about the language barrier and only knowing basic phrases like greetings but our server, thankfully, spoke very good English which made for a very smooth dinner experience. What we ordered: -french onion soup€15, came with baguettes to dip -escargots (6)- €23 -cod cooked on skin €35 -grilled salmon fillet €32 -spaghetti alle vongole €27 -grilled octopus €32 Escargots: 5/5. Okay, so I wasn't quite sure what this would taste like but I LOVED IT! The green sauce tasted like pesto garlic & it paired soooo well with the escargot. My favorite dish by far. French Onion Soup: 5/5. Great flavor, lots of onions, good amount of cheese, and dipped with the baguettes... it was perfect! Plus, they gave us extra baguettes on the house at the end of our meal to take back to the hotel. Cod: 4.5/5. I love a nice, buttery cod! Cooked perfectly, not dry at all. It had a tangy flavor to it that I liked but did not love. Salmon, Spaghetti, & Octopus: 4/5. I think the portion sizes were actually pretty good. I think the spaghetti with clams could have been more al dente and not as cooked, but still had great flavor. Overall, really enjoyed our meal. Everyone dined a little longer to watch on the TV Women's basketball Olympics that was happening live. Our waiter was kind and gave us great recommendations. I also had read that at other restaurants in tourist areas of Paris, servers will try to pressure people to tip 20%, though natives do not tip much or at all, & did not have this experience with our server. This place practically screams "tourist trap." The 50% off sandwich board was the first red flag, Notre Dame looming a little too close was the second, and the tour buses idling around the corner were the third. But hunger makes fools of us all. We sat down. Congratulations to us--we had just purchased front-row seats to the worst meal in Paris. The steak could've doubled as a chew toy, the Aperol spritz was basically sparkling water that had once heard of Aperol, and the waiter managed to be both hostile and invisible at the same time. After asking three times for the bill, we realized we weren't customers--we were hostages. Paris is bursting with incredible food. This wasn't it. Perfect, cozy, spot to stop in for some food and drinks. We came in on a rainy day and their patio was covered with heaters which made the patio perfect for people watching on the streets. Very good prices for the area. I had a rosé to drink, guacamole for the appetizer, and truffle ravioli to share with my boyfriend. The guacamole came with a tiny bowl of tiny tortilla chips and it cost $4 to get more chips which was bummer since extra chips usually comes gratis in the states. The truffle ravioli was DELICIOUS and came with generous shavings of real truffle. The raviolis were bitesize and perfect for sharing with another person. The lobster was a lot of work to eat because it came unshelled and the amount of meat you get in return isn't satisfying enough for the effort. Black truffle with gnocchi based in a cream sauce was my favorite dish on the table and the guac and chips were a perfect pairing for the World Cup soccer game, and Burgundy beef with fries was decent where the beef was moist and tender and wonderful but the fries were a let-down. I don't remember what type of cheese w ordered, but it was soft and moist and easy to spread on a piece of bread. That was really good as well. This is a really great place to go to in the evening to enjoy the nice ambience of the Parisian streets. We had a kind server and our food came relatively fast. I just wish I had enjoyed my gnocchi a bit more. My mom and sister ordered the mussels and my dad ordered the veal. Not sure why this gem is rated 3.5 stars but I give it a solid 4 stars. I had the veal in mushroom sauce with rice pilaf...and it was fantastic. It is ice cold in Paris and this hit the spot. I have been to this amazing restaurant several times since I arrived in Paris last week. I'm a total creature of habit and I feel very comfortable and looked after by the hardest working staff in Paris. I've had breakfast which consisted of a fantastic cheese omelette served with a salad and crunchy perfection baguette. The salad dressing is so perfect and dressed beautiful. Nicoise Salad with raw tuna. OMG a total winner. Beautiful fresh french green beans, tomatoes, olives, egg and fresh grade tuna. OUTFUCKINGSTANDING! But the winner here is the Chicken Frisse. A delicious cream sauce with morel mushrooms served with "to die for" mashed potatoes. Like lick the pan/plate worthy. I mean the kind of sauce you take that bread with and wipe every drop up. I personally thought the Foie Gras was out of this world good. And trust me you'll eat an entire baguette along with it. Now...Let's get down to prices. Very expensive. Everything in Paris is outrageously expensive. But the product here is worthy of the prices. Why I believe this.. The food is fresh as I've seen here yet. The real estate is prime for sitting for hours people watching. They are never short of waitstaff. All men and 3 fantastic ladies. Several managers roaming to check on guests. The oyster bar men are a show within themselves. I was there on a Friday night and they put out some beautiful looking seafood towers and Oysters. Each one made to order with love. You are not ignored or looked down upon. And made to feel very welcomed. Tap water is served by the pitcher. Much appreciated as I do not drink. And never once did I feel pressure to drink wine or whatever. More French speaking than English people. I've seen several repeat regular customers here. One of our best meals this trip. I love seafood and this is the place to get it in Paris I guess. We were here couple of nights before with a local and somehow we found it on our own by luck. Besides the Seafood we ordered Fois Gras and I never was a fan of this but I tell you this place had either some kind of mind blowing chemical in it to fool the brain or an amazing recipe. In November of 2008, we stayed at the nearby Hotel de Buci for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed this simple, delightful restaurant 4 times! While my father berated us for repeatedly going back to one establishment when we were in such an amazing culinary center, my wife and I were quite pleased that we did... Our experiences there were romantic, delicious, and something we shall never forget! For a brasserie, it's not cheap, but it does serve delicious, homestyle food, as well as first-class fresh seafood. Try their seafood nights (The Gillardeau oysters were delicious!) We loved the couscous, beef with fries, seafood, and wine! The waiters are also VERY personable; we enjoyed the service very much, and tipped them well over the service included in the bill - on purpose. Emile is the senior waiter, and he is a master of his craft - polite, helpful, and sincerely interested in his customers. He served us on two occasions, and we sincerely enjoyed his company and service. If you can, eat outside, because the people-watching on this street is fantastic. There are all sorts of troubadours who will walk by, and watching/listening to them is an incredible experience. We shall always return to this nice, quaint, restaurant whenever we come to Paris, and wish their staff only the best! read more

Our second night in Paris and this was our best meal so far. It was nearly 11:30 PM after the Vedette tour so there weren't many options open. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, attentive, and spoke perfect English. We were served immediately, and were checked on often. The menu is nothing special, but portions are large and a good value. Salade nicoise was enormous, onion soup hot and not too salty, and the cheeseburger was thick, tender and juicy. A pleasant and refined little resturant in a colourful and lively location just of the Blvd. St. Germain. It is just opposite the wonderful Taschen bookshop. And even better news - the food (traditional French fare) and service are great and the prices are very reasonable. I've tried the Jarret de Porc (a smoked Pork knuckle) served with potatoes in oil. The Langue de Bouef also comes highly recommended. A single course for two people with a pitcher of wine each costs about 40 euros total. In true Parisian-style, there are tables outside with patio heaters, so this is a great place to eat good food and watch the world go by. read more

Stumbled upon this place because it's near my Paris apartment and love it! It's a little more pricey than some of the other cafes in the area but totally worth it in my opinion. The average meal was around 20 euros and the food/service was wonderful! If you have Justin as your waiter (cute brunette dude with a gap) you will be so so happy, he's the best! He also speaks perfect English and was so sweet to my mom and I when we came to have dinner here. If you appreciate good meat definitely come here or if you want to take a venture on the wild side. I had the calf liver and it was delicious! They also have more common menu items like gnocchi, caesar salad, veal, etc. There is also an extensive wine menu and my mom said it was the best wine she had had thus far on our trip. The atmosphere was very cozy inside with comfortable seating that wasn't squished together at all. Outside was more packed but that's typical for many of the cafes in this area because many Parisians enjoy smoking while they drink and eat (which can only be done outside). I agree with many of the reviews claiming the service is extremely poor and arrogant, while the prices are exorbitantly high. This is most likely due to the prime location of the restaurant. My family and I ordered two beef bourguignons and a large appetizer of escargot to share. While the dishes were good and flavorful, they were overpriced and not worth the overall treatment/experience. Also, we noticed that in our order of escargot, one of the shells was MISSING a snail. The manager essentially scoffed and ignored us, thinking we were trying to get an additional snail. If you enjoy breathing in smoke fumes from every other table and rude service, eat here. ----------------------------- Le service était horrible et arrogant. We loved this restaurant for its location and food. Fun to people watch, listed to jazz music and enjoy some yummy eats! It was one of the best Beef Bourguignons we had while in Paris. If you are looking or something lighter the Burrata with mango and avocado and ceviche were very good and hit the spot! We came back another night and tried the mussels, they were yummy and tender. So good with the bread! This street was hopping while we were there in June, I'm sure it was very busy the rest of the summer.
