John was very polite and immediately told me my HVAC closet smelled because a mouse died in there. He also called a relative while at my place and on the way home to give me their suggestions on dealing with the smell, which has nothing to do with HVAC and is above and beyond in my opinion. Yes, I did have to pay the $100 fee to come out. I paid in cash to not have to pay the 10% processing fee. I was fine with paying this to have someone come out so quickly, and on a Sunday. Would call again. When my problem actually involves HVAC repair.

Now the previous evening, my husband contacted a large local competitor to check our HVAC system. Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! Amazing work & Professionalism by Joe K!!!! I returned home from business travel to a COOL & COMFORTABLE HOUSE!!! ALL Work completed in an HOUR!!! (less time than the large local competitor spending 2 1/2 hours trying to sell my husband a new HVAC system)!! Joe K. was amazing, excellent communicator, knowledgeable and very professional!! When I initially reached out, Jay was a bit occupied with other jobs and said that he would contact me back, and he did just that within a day. Most contractors wouldn't remember to call back, but Jay was great at communicating when he'd be able to come by. When he arrived, he was very thorough to check each part of the HVAC unit and talk me through it. He showed us all the potential problems that could be causing our HVAC issue and why. He also gave us tips to manage air ow (especially during the summer) and prevent mold in the ducts. He explained everything in laymen's terms which was very helpful. On the side, Jay also went over and behind to tell us how to monitor for carbon monoxide poisoning, which was important for me and my growing family!
