I live in one of the upstairs units and about a year ago I noticed coloring on the bedroom ceiling. I didn't think much of it because I remembered I was told my roof was in pretty good shape. When I eventually went up to take a look I didn't see evident spots of leaking but I saw the roof needed some attention badly, plus I knew my gutters needed replacing. I contacted a few roofers to come give estimates and got different opinions on how to address. A few I felt would only bandage the situation. I need a fix that would last at least a few years. Mr. Marshall came by on a Wednesday and we discussed the options I had received and he gave a thoughtful explanation and quoted me a fair price. He also scheduled for early Monday morning. He called me Thursday afternoon because his crew had finished a job early and came right over. His crew removed all debris and aluminum coated my roof all before the next rain which came late Friday afternoon. I am extremely pleased with the job done and I have a warranty!!!

2nd review. 3 years…read moreago I left a glowing review about Colonial. Chas Kubrick is AMAZING!! They were professional, the construction team did a fabulous job and I think I only found 3 nails. I purchased the upgraded roof and upgrade to beautiful Hardie siding. Fast forward and I'm leaving a 1 star review. Why? Because they only warranty their work product for 2 years a little but important fact that must have been in the contract and I missed. It certainly wasn't spoken. I recall reviewing the Hardie as well as the CertainTeed Roof warranties but nothing about a 2 year warranty from Colonial. Given that information would I have chosen a different company? Of course! I have 2 major problems, a leak inside of my sunroom as well as a problem with the siding which has destroyed a window and French door. A technician came out for the door and explained the when the siding was installed on the deck, they failed to do the flashing. And well, you can see in results in the pictures. When contractors come to provide estimates without missing a beat, each says I shouldn't be having these problems after 4 years and that Colonial should repair. I explain the 2 year clause and they laugh. So, here we are, either file a claim with the roof and siding manufacturers, pay out of pocket OR file a claim with my insurance company. Each option sucks because I went with a company which doesn't provide an actual warranty for their work product. Don't be me, be better.

They were actually able to start the job sooner than expected, and completed it quickly. While Brian was on site I asked about also pressure washing the both my balconies and they accommodated that request, and then my additional request to re-caulk areas of the balconies. After scheduling what was very clearly described to me as a free roof quote and inspection, the employee who visited my property stated from his truck that I had no roof damage and that he didn't work for free. I explained that I had found a missing shingle and was suspicious of a certain area of my roof that was hard to see from the ground. I explained that I had spoken with two other employees to schedule that inspection and they had explained to me numerous times that they would provide a free inspection and quote based on the damage as part of their standard sevices. He repeated that he didn't work for free, inspections are $300, and drove off. I will not consider K&M services in the future. If you are concerned about having a similar experience, I would recommend you do the same.

You would ask a simple question and get looked blankly. The work area safety was a disaster. Pictures will be included. They showed up at 7:15-7:25 AM. Upon arrival they needed to get inside for what I haven't a clue. Fairfax county has a noise ordinance stating work can't start until 8AM. If your so unlucky you will deal with Carl. Carl is the most cocky character. He doesn't know code. He claims he does. He claims he inspected the area to bring it up to code but missed a massive code violation. Fairfax County missed it as well but I already knew they were useless. So if you want to hire a company and roll the dice that you pass final inspection this is your company. If you want your property taken and then a cocky response that he's in 200 homes a year this is your company. They took a tarp that wasn't theirs and probably a watch. The tarp was returned but according to Carl they don't take anything. I can't speak for the value. The job was done on time but with annoyances. The kicker is he allegedly wanted to charge trip fees. Let's break it down: Honesty - I called Rob at Roof Fanatics after getting the high-pressure sales pitch from two different companies in a row. I was dreading getting another quote. Rob's entire ethos is the anti-high-pressure pitch. He told me what I needed to know, gave me options, and then let me decide. His prices were very fair and super competitive for the level of attention we received. We also needed to delay work while we addressed a non-related structural issue. Rob was patient, and never pressed us to move faster than we were comfortable with. Attention to detail - After coming by to look at the roof, we asked him to come back to look at the siding as well a few weeks later. Rob remembered my dog's name - this might be a minor thing, but it spoke to the fact that he was paying attention, and treating us like a valued customer (before we had paid him a cent!), not just another stop on his route. He personally inspected the work after each crew had finished - siding, roof, gutters. He noticed things down to the last screw, and took care that everything was done to the highest standard. Quality - Our house looks @#%! awesome. We started with an old roof that, cracking vinyl siding, and gutters that were not getting the job done. I'm very pleased with the final result - Rob even custom-sourced gutter diverters to help us install rain barrels. The final result is better than I could have hoped. Service - Along the way Rob spent a ton of time communicating with me - answering questions, discussing options, and helping me understand every detail of what was happening to my family's home. I know he has other customers, but the level of attention I received for our project made me feel like the whole company was focused on my job. Rob will truly stop at nothing to make sure you are satisfied with the result. For a job as important as dealing with the roof or siding of my house, there's no one I would trust more than Rob to do an excellent job. UPDATE: I also referred Rob to my church, where we asked him to do some siding work and to look at the roofs of two church buildings where we had experienced leaks. Rob found damage to one roof caused by a tree, and with the other roof found that the shingles used were of an old, discontinued type that couldn't be easily patched. That eye for detail - the discontinued shingles - convinced our insurance company to cover the entire roof. Rob also worked with the insurance company to get the other roof covered as well. I don't believe we would have been successful without Rob's extensive knowledge of his craft and sharp eyes - his work has saved our church from a large planned expense, allowing us to use that money in the community.
