Could not be better! Don Hoover is a true roofing professional. He may not be the cheapest out there, but he is the best! Due to blunders made by a prior contractor on both new and old construction, we have had many leaks over the past 15 years. Don Hoover had already been our go-to roofing professional for many years, remediating leaks due to these blunders to keep us going. However, with all the big rain events this year, our shed roof finally decompensated. The prior contractor had mis-roofed our rather flat shed roof in shingles and, after 15 years of aging, the shingles were now allowing rain to pool on the roof and causing much more serious leaks than ever before. We called Mr. Hoover and he quickly came and diagnosed the problem: He told us the roof pitch was too low for shingles and should have been done like a flat roof in TPO from the beginning, and not in shingles. Since we would have had 4 different ages/kinds of roofing up there if only the shed roof were done we decided to have the entire roof done: TPO, shingles, new skylights and all, over both the newer and older construction. His crew were punctual and efficient. The job took several days due to its complexity and accounting for rain delays. They removed all the old roofing materials, replaced wet plywood on the mis-roofed newer construction (none on the older!), and re-shingled what needed to be re-shingled. Then they tackled the shed roof, completing it in a long day, and the skylights the next day. Afterwards, his crew cleaned up the job-site of all the debris. We have had some minor and major rainstorms since the roof was done and it has performed beautifully. We feel confident of no leaks in a job well done. Don and his crew take pride in their work and we highly recommend him. He told us he makes a good living cleaning up from the shortcuts made by other contractors. Scottie & Doug V. We have used the services of Hoover Roofing LLC on two occasions and both times were very pleased with the experience. The first work performed was replacing broken slates and installing new flashing on our 80 year old slate roof. Hoover Roofing was recommended by a contractor who was doing several renovations on our house and he spoke highly of them. He was right. From our introduction forward they were professional, courteous, timely and helpful in explaining options to the needed work. They arrived on time and when finished cleaned up so their having been there was not noticeable. Our second experience was this past spring when we needed repairs to both the roof and gutters due to the heay winter snows. They came the day after we contacted them, assessed the damage plus pointed our some improvements that could mitigate problems in the future. Their cost estimate was detailed and supported by photographs showing the damage and required work. They were willing to start when we were; however, the entire project was delayed by insurance issues. They were patient and worked with us on adjusting some elements of the project as well as pointing out shortcomings of what was proposed by the insurer and their contractor. Once we finally got everything resolved they set to work and again they were professional and timely. If they said they would be there at 8 a.m. you could count on them being there by 7:55 with their equipment and ready to start work. They installed upgraded snow guards, replaced cracked and broken slates, waterproofed around soil pipes and installed new gutters and fascia boards. Again, they left nothing behind and even managed to leave then blooming flower beds undisturbed. We certainly will use them again, if necessary, and highly recommend them to others. Beware of Hoover Roofing Hiring Hoover Roofing was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. This father-and-son-owned roofing company caused extensive damage to my brand-new home and roof, leaving me with costly repairs. I initially trusted them due to a personal connection, but that trust was completely betrayed. First and foremost, they operated without a valid Virginia contractor's license, which is both unethical and illegal. This alone should have been a red flag, but their dishonesty didn't stop there. Rather than performing any of the work themselves, they hired unlicensed laborers who barely spoke English, leaving me with the impression that they were inexperienced and unqualified. The result? Poor craftsmanship, unnecessary damage to my property, and absolutely no accountability on their part. When I confronted them about the issues, they offered no solutions and clearly had no remorse for their shoddy practices. I strongly advise anyone considering Hoover Roofing to think twice. Their shortcuts, lack of professionalism, and disregard for proper procedures are nothing short of outrageous. This experience has been a nightmare, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Avoid Hoover Roofing at all costs. "I had an extremely disappointing experience with Hoover Roofing. After paying them over $23,000 in cash, the job was not even halfway completed, and they refused to return to address damages or finish the work. Despite numerous attempts to contact them, they showed no willingness to resolve the issue. This lack of professionalism and accountability is unacceptable. I had some work done at my house by a contractor and by looking at the roof, I knew it didn't look right. I found Don Hoover of Hoover Roofing, LLC online (read a great review here about him) and sent him email about what I thought were the issues (as far as I could visibly see). He made an appointment with me right away and came out to take a look at my concerns. He did this on his own time and expense plus spent a lot of time explaining all the issues to me.
