We inquired with CaliGreen landscaping through Yelp and John immediately responded back within 30 minutes to have our first initial conversation over the phone and then to set up an in person the next day. He was extremely professional in person and understood what direction we wanted to take along detailing what services he could provide for what we're looking to do. We met November 2024 and unfortunately could not pull off the project immediately and had to postpone for 12 months and not once was John bothering us after about the project. Fast forward to a year later, we now had the opportunity to start the project and within 18 working days, excavation, concrete, pouring, and final landscaping was all finished and wrapped up for our backyard, courtyard, and front yard project without any hiccups. His excavation team which included himself working every day, his concrete team/landscaping crew ex extremely efficient and professional, each and every day. Can't tell you how impressed we were without efficient each timeline that was hit and laid out from the beginning of our starting. John also stayed in communication with us every step of the way, and there was not a question that could not be answered. In the end, the project took 6 weeks. For a simple patio, a small dog run and a rock weed barrier. Lucy tried to sneak fees in and without my approval, had her workers rip out 2 of my bushes. After complaining, they replanted them days later but the plants did not survive. They also damaged my drip system (they did fix it after I brought to their attention) also, the workers left trash in the yard. John was kind and understanding but I will continue to tell my neighbors to stay away from them.

What a difference, Juan actually answered my phone call, came by my house promptly and worked with me on designing something for my front yard. From start to finish, Juan and his crew were there on time everyday, removing the old yard, repairing the sprinkler systems, planting new plants and installing artificial grass. We had been sitting on a landscape design and needed someone to bring the vision to reality. Brandon immediately translated our plan into his software so we could discuss options and take on suggestions for improvement. He was quick and precise in making adjustments to appease our HOA and fit within our budget. The crew was meticulous in their work on the yard. If it was on the plan it was replicated in the yard. If we saw something that needed a slight adjustment they were happy to accommodate. I recall a situation where we needed a concrete walkway to go wider around an AC unit. The crew quickly responded by forming a wider path. Nate was great at scheduling project dates and also helped to make sure our AC units were reinstalled in a timely manner after our concrete was poured. We were relieved to have them up and running again before a forecasted heat wave arrived. Brandon was there at every stage of the project and was always quick to respond. He was at the nursery with us when it came time to choose the plants, making suggestions for plants that best fit our specific environment. During the middle of construction a rain storm hit our area and we had some concerns about how the yard would handle it in an unfinished state. He came out late at night to make sure the drainage would be okay until the storm passed. Upon completion of the project he was there to make sure everything was tidied up after the final walkthrough. If someone were to ask me for a recommendation on a yard install or remodel I would surely tell them to call Reliable Landscape and Design.

We signed a $67,000 landscaping contract with this company in March. While we understood the initial weather-related delays, the way our project was handled afterward was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. On our scheduled project start date (May 26th) no one showed up and we received no phone call, email, or update. After taking time off work to be home for the project, we had to call the company ourselves, only to be met with confusion and surprise, as if they were unaware our project was even scheduled to begin. They then scrambled to contact employees and send someone out later that day for a "walk through." This is something that should have been completed well before the scheduled start date. We were then assured work would begin the following morning at 8:00 AM. By 10:00 AM, no one had arrived and again we had received no communication. When we called for answers, an employee told us the owner and our project advisor should have already been at our house to speak with us. That had never happened. When we calmly expressed our concerns about the repeated lack of communication, the no call/no show, and the fact that we had now missed multiple days of work for nothing, the owner, Brandon, immediately responded by asking if we wanted to cancel the project. We explained that cancellation was not our goal. We simply wanted accountability, communication, and follow-through. Brandon then stated, "I don't like the tone you have. I've been in the landscaping business since the 90s. I have 9 other projects going on and I don't like your tone, so we can just go ahead and cancel this project." At no point were we disrespectful. We were frustrated customers trying to understand why a major project had been mishandled from the start. For a company handling projects of this size and cost, we expected professionalism, communication, and BASIC reliability. Unfortunately, our experience has been the exact opposite. I do not recommend doing business with this company.

I trusted them with my hard earned money. It wasn't enough to motivate them to do a decent job. We spent thousand and got the laziest, most low effort job I've ever had done on anything in my house. Kevin seems to know what he's talking about, and is easy to work with. But when it came time for work to be done, all bets were off. Do not be fooled. Here's what happened. A couple of years ago we paid a lot of money to have a lot of plants planted and our watering system overhauled because we were having watering issues. Planting - many of the plants died because they were planted in unsuitable spots (spots they chose) and many plants have never really died but never grown or looked healthy. I finally decided to dig those ones up and I KID YOU NOT, many of them weren't even planted in the ground. They were planted in the mulch, sitting on top of the weed barrier (see picture). One had half the root ball just exposed. More than one plant was planted with the large plastic plant label in the ground blocking the roots. At the end, they said they couldn't bury the new drip lines because there wasn't enough mulch, so I went out and spent 45 minutes doing it no problem. They were so lazy that if they couldn't dump a bunch of new mulch to cover the lines, they weren't interested. Worst of all, they didn't even fix the irrigation system I needed them to fix. The Watering - A huge concern we had was the watering system since many plants were being over-watered and dying from rot. Once they finished their work I doubled checked with the foreman that the problem areas where fixed and he assured me they were. Guess what, they didn't even touch it! They just left the system I put in and all the plants died due to over watering. I have since found many more issues. Please be warned. Like I said, I trusted them with thousand of my hard earned money. Money that meant a lot to me. I guess it wasn't enough to get them to do a respectable job. EDIT - Kevin's response is typical and should worry customers. Its: 1. I'm so sorry you weren't more aggressive about being on top of our numerous mistakes. You expect some mistakes but when the errors are so incompetent (plugging in emitters backwards so they drown you plants) its absurd to put it on the customer to double check ALL work. 2. He clearly didn't read the review because that would have answered the questions he is asking. 3. I mention why it took me so long to respond. I mention the watering problem and that it had nothing to do with equipment failure. And I mention that the problem wasn't plants being planted for proper drainage, but rather not even planted in the soil. Literally on top of weed barrier and buried in mulch. 4. Finally, I didn't say I buried the irrigation in dirt, I was able to easily bury it in the mulch that his team said was too difficult. AND I did have him come back to replace plants that died immediately. He worked hard to convince to leave the sickly ones still in to give them more time. BE CAREFUL. Seems like he has a few teams and some are great. But his response to my complaints should concern everyone. He should have said, "I am so sorry we missed the mark here, can I call you to discuss?" It was clear he understood what was going to be required for my twice monthly service. I have a yard that requires very little maintenance except for winter pruning of shrubs and 3 small crepe myrtle trees. It has taken them 3 months to respond to my requests to do what they promised. When the two workers come each time, I discuss what is required based on my agreement, and several times they have told me "next time." After several visits and the "next time" as promised does not happen, I had a talk with the workers. So this last time they responded with pruning 2 of the trees, butchering them, and the 3rd tree they left have unpruned! Seriously??? Also the two "next time" other items were not completed at all and they left their tools laying in my yard and left when I was not watching. To see if I could correct these issues, I emailed the office asking to cancel my remaining monthly service. No response in a week. I have left 3 phone messages in the last week with no response. Update: Did get a phone call from owner. He apologized. He said that his employees were not doing the job that he specified to them with written instructions. I did cancel the contract. The owner refunded my last month payment. I wonder if he will fire the non-performing employees. I have a low maintenance property. I'm just going to do all the landscape work myself.

I never write reviews, but David did such a great job that I felt compelled to write one. First, David replaced three very old, outdated valves. What I appreciated most was that he took the time to explain what he was doing and how the valves and solenoids work together with the controller as a system. As someone who knows very little about sprinkler systems, I really appreciated the clear explanation. Second, he installed four new sprinklers, one of which was a challenge because of the concrete surrounding the PVC piping. In addition, he replaced eight heads, six risers, and capped one sprinkler. He adjusted every single head across four stations and zones, walked me through each zone, made careful micro-adjustments, and explained how everything worked. Lastly, he left my backyard spotless and looking as good as new. I would not hesitate to work with Mark and David at First Class Irrigation again. Speaking of which, I am thinking of having them convert my sprinkler system into a low-maintenance drip irrigation system with a Rachio controller in the near future. Highly recommended!

Overall, I had a great experience end to end. Fair and competitive pricing and friendly group of guys to work with. Had a little snag with their quoting system which never sent me my quote, but that was quickly cleared up once I reached out. I had them do some decomposed granite pathways along with some irrigation improvement and fixes, but the bulk of the work was removing a massive amount of dirt and demo after my unsuccessful attempt to keep the weeds in control. Definitely hard work ethic and was often already working early in the morning before I had a chance to get my first cup of coffee in. They even worked through the light rains we had in Feb to keep the project moving along. Sam and the team was super flexible and was able to do some modifications and quote me on the spot. As an owner operated company, they are small enough to have that flexibility to adjust on the fly as long as you give them reasonable notice on what you want. One thing for certain is that different landscapers will have different solutions and approaches to how you want to solve/design your landscaping. Sam and Eric knew their stuff and the solution that was presented to me made the most sense at the right price from the 3 quotes I got. We moved into a new developement with a dirt backyard and we were eager to get something done before the rains and for the dog. Called Sam and he was able to come out that night and we were able to walk through the plans we envisioned and he also gave us some good advice on the design. We decided to renew our back yard and wanted something special. So we decided the have a heart shaped lawn with pavers outlining it with several walkways attached. Sam came out and they formed an impressive heart (much better than the one I formed) with the walkways we suggested. They poured the concrete, stamped it, put the lawn in with sprinklers and it looked better than we had imagined it could look. Finally, I didn't say I buried the irrigation in dirt, I was able to easily bury it in the mulch that his team said was too difficult. AND I did have him come back to replace plants that died immediately. He worked hard to convince to leave the sickly ones still in to give them more time. BE CAREFUL. Seems like he has a few teams and some are great. But his response to my complaints should concern everyone. He should have said, "I am so sorry we missed the mark here, can I call you to discuss?" But he didn't and honestly, I just think people who don't keep their word are not worth giving anything more than a 1 out 5. But that's just me.

He confessed that his team was working on another large job in the Sacramento area, so we knew our project wouldn't be immediate. He gave us a VERY reasonable quote, so we said, "Let's go." In less than three weeks, Chris and his team were at our door, right on time! We reviewed the project, and his team went to work. From start to finish the backyard project took over a year to finish. Our backyard project was not big. This was an extremely stressful process as we had to check up on the work throughout; at points we went months without any work being done and David always had an excuse. Admittedly, we didn't have all the final decisions made prior to the start and things were fluid at times but there was always work that could have been done which didn't happen unless we pushed. With the amount we paid we thought the owner would have been more helpful with design but were left to do research and find/look at materials ourselves. We had to withhold payments because work wasn't being done despite being pestered and payments demanded from the owner. Numerous times we had to have conversations regarding progressive payments being demanded by the owner despite lack of work being performed. The only thing that motivated the owner to get back to work was us withholding payment. The owner clearly had too many projects and not enough workers resulting in the customer suffering which we heard from one of the workers was an issue with his other jobs too. We had a large landscaping company come out while we had one of the long breaks in work and pointed out many issues and stated they would've completed the job in 3 weeks. It was exhausting and stressful to have to inspect every aspect of the job and find subpar work being performed/corners being cut. An issue we still have is drainage, which we questioned the owner about prior to finishing the project but were assured it wouldn't be an issue. We trusted him but again learned the hard way not to. We are going to have to hire another company to fix the lake that arrives in the middle of our backyard when a large rain occurs. Our project was expensive and his bid was on the high side compared with others so needless to say we expected much better.

When they put in new irrigation, they chose to bury an old sprinkler. The old sprinkler is now leaking. Why didn't they just FIX AND MOVE the old sprinkler like the contract said? Owner danced around this question, and they won't repair it. Now I will have to pay a new company to repair it. She kept all the paperwork and communication flowing, and was a wonderful resource when I had questions. The project included: demoing the bark, patio and existing fountain; removing plants; replacing old drip and lighting lines; replacing irrigation valves and solenoids; finishing all beds with lava rock; pouring approx (1000) sq ft of concrete - 2 color stamped pattern; installing a header board along a property line; and building a mini retaining wall along the sidewalk. They cleaned up everything when they were finished, it was spotless. The work done was exactly as we discussed and I am so pleased.
