Of course, I had to get my husband on board to get a design going for our backyard/front yard on our new home and his responsiveness was QUICK and EASY!!! I will admit I was a bit hesitant on using someone I found on social media for any types of services, from previous experience, but Sam went above and beyond my expectations!!! I contacted Sam about our backyard. He was very prompt at getting out and taking a drone of our property. He said he would have the results back in 2 to 3 weeks. I was really looking forward to it because his work is absolutely amazing, and everybody that has gotten work done from him leaves him absolutely amazing reviews. I texted him a couple days after he came and looked at our property. I just wanted to check on with him and verify that it was 2 to 3 weeks and ask how it's coming along. He wrote back and said it should be done in a couple days max. I have politely and gently tried to ask him reminders on text messages since then and I have been completely ghosted. Sam seems to be a really great guy, and his work is really amazing. However his responsiveness to his prospective clients really is disheartening, I would fear the lack of communication if he actually did our house. read more

WE 100 PERCENT RECOMMEND M&H LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION. I found out of Sam through his work for my cousin's backyard in rancho. From our first call, he made everything so easy for us! If you know what you want, great! We did not. We were not sure what kind of style (cement or pavers) we wanted to go with for the backyard. So Sam asked a couple questions of our likes, dislikes and goals for our backyard. Sam went over the unbiased pros and cons of each to help us make a final decision. He then sent over a simulated backyard design using our actual backyard space! It was so cool to see it in 3D. And when we wanted to make adjustments, he was more than happy to make them and send us a new 3D design. OH AND HE DID THIS BEFORE EVEN PROCEEDING TO PAYMENT. He was helpful in letting us break the payment in 3 parts. He even fixed our neighbors broken drip pipe so it wouldn't affect our backyard anymore. ( we had been getting water leaking into our backyard for weeks prior to getting started with our backyard design and couldn't coordinate with the owners to fix it) Our backyard is pretty small, however with the pavers and sides for flowers, it looks so much bigger now. The backyard took two weeks to complete and Sam and Eric worked on it together. Eric put in a lot of hard work in really high Sac heat and was nothing but positive about it. They were both super kind, extremely hard working professionals and kept us updated on the progress everyday. We honestly could not recommend Sam and his team more. Sam and his crew were AMAZING! I can not recommend them enough. Most of the other construction companies I contacted were not able to start the project for a few months. Sam and his crew were able to start within the week (granted it was a smaller project). The crew was able to fix my flagstone pathways that was installed incorrectly. Not only were they able to fix the existing pathways, they were able to expand the patio to allow room for Fire pit. Sam was a great communicator. He always let me know when the crew would be arriving. Very pleased with the quality of work I received. I would definitely recommend M&H Landscaping. In 2021 Sam and his crew installed artificial grass on a side yard for me. This area is being used as a play yard for my family members who are allergic to grass, grandkids to play on and on occasion dog area. They did a fantastic job of clearing, leveling and installing the underlayment and artificial grass, decomposed granite and a few extra smaller projects that I added to the scope. Now 3 years later (2024) my yard flooded after the big rain this winter. I contacted Sam and he sent out Erik who put down 500 lbs of infill, brushed the turf and added some nails where the older ones were compromised from the flooding. My husband and I are extremely happy with the initial product install and now the service after install. My dogs love this yard and its a great place to hang out with the grandkids when the other yard is mucky from weather. In highly recommend this company. read more

I originally contacted M&H to do my 7k sq ft backyard but they never got back to me and so I went with another company. The other company did a relatively OK job but they screwed up the concrete footers to our rebound net not once, but twice. I had no confidence they could demo and redo it properly. Sam from M&H finally got back to me and explained that he had just welcomed his first baby earlier this year and that is why he wasn't able to do the original quote and the reason for his most recent 1 star reviews. I gave him and Erik a shot. Since I had the original company to compare M&H to, I would just like to say it was like night and day how amazing and professional Sam and Erik were. With the other company, I was always anxious that they would not do it correctly or if I brought something up that they would just create excuses or not address issues. But not with Sam. They instilled confidence that they could do it right - not only the first time but make it look really good. And, they did. They were timely. They kept me updated. They addressed all my concerns. They brought up any issues right away and made sure I was aware of them. My husband noticed that the rebound net wasn't level but before he could even bring it up, Sam fixed it ASAP. A. Mazing. My only regret is that the timing didn't work out for them to do the original job. I've already recommended them to my family members who have upcoming backyard projects. For context - my issue started off as a complex sprinkler line repair as a result of a previously bad installation of concrete but quickly grew (by my own choice) to include updating our landscaping (rock, weed guard, etc...), moving our sprinkler control systems, as well as roughly 500sq ft of concrete. I am notoriously tough on these types of reviews because I think it takes A LOT to earn a perfect score. M&H Landscaping absolutely earned it in this case.Everything from availability, communication, empathy, consideration, and consultation a perfect score. I'm booking additional work with them to have sod and expanding our sprinkler lines based on the positivity of the experience. The quality of work speaks for itself - but the biggest thing I want to call out was the kindness. Our situation was a result of a bad situation with another contractor where concrete was installed very poorly - and severely damaged our existing sprinkler system on top of numerous construction issues with the actual concrete itself which was installed. When I contacted Sam I was desperate to get our sprinklers fixed (significant water pushing up against the foundation of my house). He made himself immediately available to come and inspect and help be a part of solving. He listened to my issues - and never pushed HIS solution on me. Ultimately it was ME that decided to have the existing concrete (2 weeks old from a DIFFERENT contractor) destroyed and replaced by Sam's crew. This kindness carried on throughout the entire process. The communication was amazing along the way - every time they did something that was "beyond" what was typically planned; they updated me. Anytime they changed their plans (i.e. having to correct issues with existing sprinkler lines) they took the time to explain to me how/why. There's no bigger compliment than being able to say you trust someone with your home. I trust Sam and M&H completely. Thank you Sam and team for the work you did! I was pulling some weeds in my front yard. Sam approached me an introduced himself and gave me his business card. He was working on my neighbors yard a couple a houses down from me. I called a couple weeks later and asked for an estimate for my front yard. He stopped by and I showed him what I wanted to do in my front yard. When I finally got them out for an estimate, we discussed the design and methods for my project, I was given a very rought ballpark estimate and assurance I would receive an bonafide estimate by email within a couple days. 5 days later, I followed up to see if I should expect the estimate soon. M&H did a wonderful job of renovating our backyard. We had at least ten, tall trees that we needed removed along with several bushes and underbrush. They did a great job clearing everything out quickly and safely. They also leveled our yard, fixed our irrigation, placed sod, and laid down mulch. They finished all of this a day and half earlier than originally quoted AND they saved us some money on our irrigation. Moreover, Sam, the owner, came the next day and went over the irrigation and lawn care. He even offered to come back and check on the lawn's health/reset irrigation if we struggled at all. Great pics on their website and the owner Sam is very nice so I was looking forward to working with them. Unfortunately after weeks of chasing down when we'd have the bid, I had to give up. In hindsight I should have known there would be issues. Sam didn't show up for the first apt. That sort of things happens so I gave him another chance. After our first meeting he requested I schedule a meeting with he and the contractor building our pond so he could get questions answered. Unfortunately, he didn't make it to that appointment either. In fairness he let me know a couple of hours before the appointment but only after I sent multiple messages asking if he was going to make the apt. Again I gave him another chance. Sam indicated we'd have his bid the week after our first meeting, but nothing. Each time I checked in on the status, responses back were slow and usually it would take a few texts before he would get back to me. I get it, contractors are busy but after weeks of moving the bid date, the final date (April 20th) coming and going with no resetting of expectations and his failure to respond to my texts asking for an update I give up. This contractor was recommended by my pool builder whom I'm quite happy with so we weren't even planning to get another bid which is something I previously shared with Sam. Had Sam been responsive and set proper expectations the likelihood was extremely high he would have had the job to landscape our nearly half acre lot. My pool contractor has now reported that other clients he recommended use M & H are having similar issues. It's too bad. I hope M & H turns around their customer service issues. read more

As expected, Erik did a great job running electrical wire from my backyard to my front yard, completely concealed it under bark and the rock river bed, and gave the front yard a beautiful face lift. Called on a Monday and scheduled an estimate for Friday. He came out, we chatted a bit about our needs and was given a rough estimate of 20-30k for our job. Before leaving, he said he would put together a design with a firm estimate. I didn't hear from him for almost a week so I sent a text the following Wed. to see when we should expect that design and estimate. No response. It's been 3 weeks now since our first meeting and no communication since that meeting. I get people get busy, but a simple "I will get back to you" would have expected.
