I can't say enough freaking great things about Eric and the crew with Stuteville Landscaping. 6 years ago we moved into a 1947 home with no upgrades since the '50s. We have since remodeled a few thingsbut it was finally time to tackle the albatross out front. We decided to pull out all of that water guzzling 1950 grass front yard and make some usable space: the folks at Stuteville Landscaping made the plans come to life! Eric is very particular about the work his crew does and pays great attention to detail. His crew is hard working and pleasant. Christian is the lead/foreman and he's readily available and busts his butt to do right by the customer! The crew does need some instruction on how to correctly plant plants and trees; they were not digging a large enough hole for some of the plants and they had to come back and replant a few. However, this was done quickly and without any fuss. I'd say everything is perfect. I am so glad we chose Eric and the crew at Stuteville Landscaping!

I originally gave these guys a positive review because they finished my landscaping project quickly & didn't have any reviews, so I was willing to help them grow the business. Since then, the durability of their work & follow-up to address it, has been terrible. I paid them $40,000 for a variety of front & backyard landscaping, including two custom walkways, colored & stamped, a custom trellis across the entire front of my house, & a new fence w/ gate to seal off the front from back yard. They never asked if I wanted to or even recommended sealing the concrete or lumber shown in all these photos, so what do you think happened to it all in the intense heat & sun of a Placer County summer? It's all faded now to look old & dingy, only 1.5 years later. Maybe being a first time home owner & or not a contractor means I was the dumb one for not knowing to ask about sealers to protect color & look, but other contractors & service providers I've used before, have actually given me that recommendation. Besides, shouldn't that be part of the scope of work? So I'm unaware & or dumb, fair enough, but when I reached out to them multiple times, they responded that it looked like it needed sealing; really??? When I asked if they could help or give ideas, both times they said yes, & never followed through. One of the times I asked, was when I was standing out in front of my house & one of the owners drove by, ignored my wave, then replied he didn't think it was me when I texted him; yup, still the same stalky bald guy in front of the same house you just did 1.5 years ago. They had a job in my neighborhood & that he'd stop by the next day to take a look... It also reminds me that when they graded & prepped my front yard for planting 15-20 trees, plants, & shrubs, they started with hand tools in this dry hard Rocklin caliche...like it was 1849. I asked them if they wanted to use MY gas-powered auger, & they jumped at that offer; seems like a tool that landscapers should have. They're about $200 at Harbor Freight. In summary, they did a decent job in a timely manner, but were not thoughtful & or thorough enough to make sure their work would stand up over time. Not only have they been non-responsive, but its kind of funny that I've had people who've done way smaller, less costly work on my house, come back by multiple times to check on their work & or my satisfaction. Not these guys though; they must be too busy with new work, so good for them. I would just think $40,000 buys you more. Then again, it's just like, my opinion, man.

I contacted Stuteville Landscaping and 2 others for a quote on a backyard project. All 3 businesses quoted me similar figures. Above the rest Stuteville Landscaping stood out... let me tell you why... 1. Mike and Eric came out to check out my property. They listened, took measurements and gave me an accurate quote within the next day! I was shocked, my quote ended up in spam and Mike had to text me to see if I got it. The other quotes I received else where took 1 week 1/2 to calculate the quote. 2. Communication and Care is key with this company! I had a specific week off that the backyard project could be done by. Stuteville assured me that it was possible and they would do their best to finish in a week. 3. I went with Stuteville. My husband and I put all the quotes together but what made us feel comfortable was the level of professionalism and communication Mike and Eric both had. 4. First day of demolition- the crew was timely and super nice. There was like 6-8 guys (I'm prob exaggerating) but these guy meant business. Mike sent over a check off list of what was to happen each day. Eric communicated to me and my husband everyday. The lead foreman Jose and architect Christian were a dynamic duo as well. 5. Everyday the crew was timely, professional, clean, and they all cared! 6. My family and I were extremely happy with the services Stuteville Landscaping has provided and we plan to use them again in the future! 7. Stuteville fixed side house concrete tripping hazard, rewired electricity for pergola, Contracted ppl for pergola, demolished old planter boxes, stamped concrete foundation, and created stone benches with lighting, redid sprinklers, added mow strip and wood chips all in 8 days!!! Thank you Eric, Mike, Jose, and Christian! We wish you all well! A+ overall. Stood out in communication, execution, listened to what I wanted, timely. No BS! They are the best.

I am a return customer & once again couldn't be happier w the job Eric & Mike's team did on a pergola they built in my backyard. We have an existing pergola & I wanted to add an exact replica in our yard so we could put a chaise under it. The finished project was perfection. It looks like it was built at the same time as the existing pergola. I can't say enough about how much I love the owners, the crew & the workmanship Stuteville Landscaping has displayed. They have a customer for life in me. Give them a call. You will NOT be disappointed!!

We had a great experience with Stuteville Landscaping. We've been in our new house for a few summers and while we loved the backyard, we were seriously lacking shade. Full sun all afternoon, haphazard concrete, and constantly moving umbrellas to try to provide a few minutes of shade when hosting get togethers was getting old fast. After lots of research we reached out to Stuteville and we really appreciated the straight forward approach to the quote and lack of upselling (an issue with other bids). Stuteville installed the concrete, turf, and project managed the pergola installation and provided a recommendation for where to go for our outdoor kitchen needs. It took a bit longer than originally planned as we decided to go with permanent shade structures which can open to allow sun or close to provide shade.... as opposed to prefab independently standing structures (as a result we needed permits), but I'm so happy we did because the space feels airy and open which was a real priority for our family. We did have one incident where my husband backed over a can of spray paint being used by the Stuteville team. I'm 99% sure it was my husbands fault and just really unlucky placement of the paint can, but Stuteville immediate got a guy out to get the paint off the truck and another company out to re-asphalt the impacted area of the drive way. Which was above and beyond. Overall great guys, incredibly professional team, they worked hard to stage the project to allow the most time for us to have usable space around the pool and always went out of their way to ensure the space was safe as possible for my 6,4, and 1.5 year old who still were able to use the pool during the construction period.

Stuteville Landscaping is 12yrs young. Cousins Mike Franklin and Eric Stuteville learned the business as young teens from their grandfather. Initially hesitant getting a quote from a newer company, BUT after meeting Mike, head of sales/marketing/design, I really liked his progressive and innovative thoughts along with his friendliness and the ease of conveying my ideas. Once signed, Eric heads all aspects of construction: crews, scheduling and materials. Eric was awesome, always just a call or text away when he wasn't here on site. Huge factor for me, the crew was here daily for 5wks in the extreme July heat ... from start to completion of my project! Part of Stuteville's success is Antonio, manages site and crew. Antonio is the hardest hands on worker and knows every facet of landscaping! I met with him each morning to review the scope of day's work. He also insures his crew tidies up daily. Construction: Toll Bros drainage is a concern in this development. Stuteville removed all the existing flexible tubing and drain grates with 3" PVC piping and a linear drain along the entire face of the planter box. Antonio built a separate pressure treated redwood box and concrete blocks 6" from the existing fence. Concrete Work: Side walkway from front and entire back patio. Forms, thickness, color additive, joints, stamped and broom finish nicely done without a single crack! My vision came to full fruition...absolutely beautiful!! Thank You Stuteville Landscaping!!!!

They did the deck, grass, plant installation, irrigation, lights, concrete walls, back fence and pergola.

Eric and his crew are honest, hardworking and did a fabulous job executing our backyard plan. They were timely, clean and respectful of our space. We had just installed a pool and they made the backyard complete with their beautiful work. We cannot recommend them more highly.

The process of accepting an estimate as sole homeowner and going forward with contracted work, regardless of the type of work, can be daunting & fraught with anxiety. Not so this time--although this is not the first landscaping project I have tackled. I first met Mike Franklin, who walked through the space with me and listened to my suggestions. Next I worked with Matthew Vasquez, whose landscape design skills were evident and I was impressed by, and presented me with blueprints for the yards, featuring thumbnail photos of all the flowering low-maintenance plants that were part of his proposal. Then, when I realized I had a plethora of information to sift through, I could see I could not afford the cost of the project as estimated. I couldn't in good conscience sign an agreement for that price. So I re-worked the entire estimate thoroughly on my own, made a lot of modifications, replied to Mike & Eric in a timely manner, and we were able to compromise on a less expensive proposal--and we all felt comfortable with the result. I was so pleased I could still hire them for the work using my revised estimate. Stuteville Landscaping swung into action within days of the bid acceptance. One thing that was not anticipated was how much infrastructure was needed--the back yard had no drainage, the concrete had been poured once by the builders of the house, and once again by the previous owners. Now the concrete level was too high. Unexpected things like that. But plans were not halted, that's what was so great. The landscapers took it in stride. This was a complete overhaul of a back yard and redesign of a front yard, and it took less than 2 weeks (the yards are pretty small). It's beautiful now, has a water feature, trees, a few boulders, new concrete of course and trellises with star jasmine to climb the fences and provide a green screen--eventually. And Eric Stuteville is one of a kind. Take the time to chat with him, you will find out what I mean. Being professional seems to come naturally to him. So, to sum up, I have no negative criticism to offer, only constructive critique: all the way through, beginning to end, this was a comfortable process for me. I'm happy with the result, because honestly, it was a collaboration. If hiring landscapers is in your future, just remember to consider all factors, ask plenty of questions, and take each step slowly....my advice!

We appreciate that he was on time, built solid forms and even suggested additional drainage improvements. The finished result is better than that of a previous contractor. That said, there were some issues that detracted from the experience. We observed several crew members urinating in our yard and Tony made light of it so we had to address the workers ourselves to use a bathroom. There was also a miscalculation in the amount of concrete needed; while Tony completed the job at no extra charge using bagged concrete-which we appreciate-the situation could have been handled better from the outset given his level of experience, use a tape measure. Cleanup was a concern. The crew left behind concrete residue on surfaces like the driveway requiring several hours of my time to sweep and scrape. In summary, while the quality of the finished work is good improvements in professionalism, planning accuracy and post job cleanup would make a significant difference in the overall experience. Without these issues he's a solid 4.0/5.0 stars but we had the issues. I also overpaid $50 and my text hasn't been answered. Like many contractors here having tried to get us to pay more during the job he probably decided to keep it. 916-230-7995 is his cell.

They were in my top two choices because of the impression that Matt made a year ago, their reasonable price, and the company also seemed to have an organized system. This time we met with Firas and Yasmine. Firas also exhibited the same level of professionalism as Matt and was so easy to talk to. He communicated well with us and checked up on our project regularly. Our yard might be considered a smaller project for the company but it didn't seem like it with the amount of attention that they provided. Problems were solved and issues were fixed without any defensive excuses. We are also thankful for her knowledge and recommendations with regards to our plant choices. Lasly, we had a stellar crew that worked on our yard. It was only 2-3 people at a time who worked on our project which made it more personal. Our main landscape foreman was Jorge and he was detail-oriented and went above expectations. He and the crew made sure that they cleaned up the workplace everytime, they were mindful of the noise pollution, helped us navigate the drip irrigation system, and educated us on maintaining our new yard. Also, as a bonus, I noticed that they segregated their trash properly between regular trash, recycling materials, and green waste. A little thing but speaks volume of their work ethic. Just honestly impressed by the crew's level of professionalism and respectfulness. They're efficient, responsive, and mindful. We have met with different contractors and worked with a great number of people, and I would place the landscaping crew that worked with us in the top 1%. As a whole, they make a great team and I highly recommend working with this company.
