Our First Cruise Couldn't Have Been Better…read more My wife and I had never taken a cruise before, so choosing the right cruise line, itinerary, and land package felt overwhelming. Working with Joan Lovell at Advantage Travel turned what could have been a stressful planning process into an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Joan was incredibly patient and responsive throughout the entire planning process. We had plenty of questions--often on weekends when we finally had time to sit down and plan--and she was always there with prompt, helpful answers. At one point during our trip, I made a somewhat frantic call because I wasn't sure where we were supposed to be going next. Joan calmly re-sent our updated itinerary (which I later realized I hadn't read as carefully as I should have!) and got us back on track in minutes. Joan also helped us select the cruise line that best matched our travel style. During the trip, we talked with passengers from several other cruise lines and asked why they had chosen theirs. One person said they primarily cruised because they received free cruises through casino gambling. We never even set foot in the casino--that simply isn't who we are. Joan understood what we were looking for and recommended a cruise line that proved to be the perfect fit. We couldn't have been happier with the experience. We extended our Alaska cruise with a three-night land tour and also added hotel stays before and after the trip. Joan's hotel selections exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed beautiful rooms with outstanding views--including one on the top floor of a 17-story hotel in Anchorage. In talking with other travelers on our tour, none of them had accommodations with views like ours. Those thoughtful touches made an already memorable vacation even more special. Looking back, it's hard to imagine planning this trip without Joan's expertise. She anticipated details we never would have thought about, answered every question with patience and professionalism, and made our first cruise adventure smooth, relaxing, and memorable. I know many of us plan our own trips now (especially with the internet), but really, some of us just don't have time to look at every option. And, when you're planning a trip with more than 2 people, forget about it. Chris will do all of that for you--checks all the best deals, the best hotels, etc. She will also do extra research on activities for each place you want to visit. She planned my parents' European cruise and they loved it. She sent me their itinerary before and after, lets me know when they have arrived. And, if there are delays or baggage issues, she will also help sort that out. She is a true service provider. Keep in mind, too, that you don't pay anymore to have her help you. Her commissions come out of the cruise or hotel or whatever it is that you are booking. She's simply terrific. I don't want to plan a long trip without her! There is no reason why you need to stress over planning any trips in the future when you have Chris Meny. She also emails and does a lot of work over the phone.
