I called Action Repair service Inc of Freeport, NY for an issue A/C issue, two very questionable individuals where dispatched that immediately refuse to address the actual issue of no air coming out of one vent, but instead insisted that I purchase 3.5 Lbs. of freon gas from them at $135 per pound. They were extremely rude and aggressive, and they threatened they would not do any other work if I did not spend $405 in freon gas. I refused that service, upon leaving and in a spiteful act, one of their workers drained the freon gas out of my central unit while the other watched. I complained about that act and them not wearing masks as mandated, they were verbally abusive they called me derogatory names, some of them racial and offensive to members of the gay community. One of the individuals tried to physically attack me, I had to call Nassau County Police, which intercepted their van as they were leaving. It turns out that the individuals Action Repair Service Inc sent to my house had a warrant for his arrest. Nassau Police immediately handcuffed him and took him into custody. I called their office, the receptionist (a woman) was extremely rude and unapologetic about sending extortionists to my house, I tried speaking to the owner an individual by the name of Eric Sher to get a refund for services not rendered and restitution for the criminal act of draining the freon out of my A/C unit. He just as rude and abusive as his employees, he told me not to call him and call the office. Action Repair Service Inc. should not be in business there is a tremendous amount of similar negative conduct and they have been allowed and licensed to rip off and take advantage of people in total impunity. read more

Their Mechanics doesn't know anything, they just come give you a big amount to get it fixed which will be more than the price of the new unit , obviously you don't want to get it fixed . Then they say ok give me $100 cash for giving you the repair price. That's the trick they do to make a quick $100 in 5 min and leave. Our wall oven was not working. I called M&L on Saturday and the lady assured me that a repairman will come by on Tuesday morning after Labor Day. After midday Tuesday 7 Sept I called again and was assured the repairman was on his way. The man named Charles eventually turned up and looked at the wall oven and said it needs a new ignitor. i asked how it would cost and he said $475.00. Not knowing what the part is and how much it costs, I agreed. I decided to stay in the kitchen and watch all the work that being done. After Charles completed the work and seeing the part that he replaced, I felt I was being seriously overcharged! I took the damaged igniter that he replaced and after he left I checked online and the cost is on average around $70.00!!! I feel I was ripped off today!!!! I never review a company negatively but this place deserves every negative review they can get! Remember those small "tv repair" shops that were usually located in the bad part of town that normally just conned people out of their money? Well, they have evolved! These guys couldn't fix a cup of coffee, let alone a refrigerator! What's even more convincing on their incompetence is when you welcome them into your house. You'll greet that same guy that used to own that pawn shop/repair shop. And he looks the same! Toothless, unshaven, bad breath, looks like he's about to rob you. My advice, save your money and put it towards a new appliance. Or if you really need it repaired, at least try a different company. I have several friends that have American home shield insurance. I will let them know that when they call in their claims, to ask for a different company. read more

I've been a customer of Action Repair for many years. Their employees are always knowledgeable and professional. They fix all appliances from stoves to central air and heating units. I just called them to fix my central air unit the other day. ShAkim was able to diagnose the issue and replace the part in less than 24 hours. My ac is working beautifully thanks to Action Repair. Not even deserving of one star. But it's the required minimum to write a review. Charged $85 to walk through the door. Determined it was the control board. Came to fix it and said the electronic board on front of fridge was bad as well. They said the part was discontinued and I needed a new refrigerator. My fridge is is 4 yrs old and and a high end model. They put my old control board back in and left. I did some research of my own (YouTube). Found that it was the control board. However, once installed it requires some programming that these "certified technicians" were unaware of. Electronic board on front of fridge was just fine. I went online and ordered the part for $112. Then I myself who is by no means handy, fixed my fridge in 10 minutes. These morons stood to make $500 for the repair. They refused to refund my $85. Call a different place if you need help with your appliances. My experience led me to believe these guys are crooked. Then, I looked at the reviews, and yes, everything they said. EXPENSIVE repairs that didn't fix the problem, then they come back and fix a small thing, maybe saying they'll only charge for the part, and then the appliance is fixed. This happened twice to me with them. Begs the question whether we ever needed that first very expensive parts. Better to go with someplace that has mostly good reviews. This company is very, very expensive. I spent $500 on my freezer because the service light was on. Needless to say, their repairmen came out many, many times & to this day the problem is not resolved. I contacted Amex because they're not responding to my calls. Someone from the company called me back with a bit of an attitude. He mentioned " why don't you just call us?". How many times does a person have to call to get their freezer to work properly? Absolutely a thieving and fraudulent company! Called them to repair an ice machine in our refrigerator. Charged $150 for service call and did not repair. Came back and charged and additional $300 and then claimed additional parts were required. Then double-charged our credit card for an additional $450 which, after numerous calls and emails, we were told by a manager they refused to refund and we should dispute it with the credit card company. Ultimately, the credit card company resolved the dispute in our favor. But beware! This company, based on these several reviews, is a disaster to deal with. read more

I called for repair to a house humidifier. The service technician acted very unprofessionally. He cut the wires to the controller before he said a price. I never had a technician that damages the equipment before the he says the cost estimate and the owner agrees to it. After that he quoted a price that was way too high for a half an hour job so I rejected it. I asked to restore the equipment to original state but it was not done properly. I found this company to be unprofessional and not honest. Don't waste your money.I do not recommend this company. Reported to BBB. read more

Wish I had read these reviews before I used them. Crooked as can be!!! Stay far away from this outfit. Service man came and charged me $500 for a little part which he called a starter and then told me it was running. The refrigerator never cooled off a bit. It was thrown out money. I went out and bought a new refrigerator two days later. The repairer did say I might need a new compressor but then went and did a completely useless repair so he could charge me for a useless repair. I would give them 00 stars if I could. HORRIBLE!!!!!! Absolutely one of the worst experiences with a service repair company I have ever encountered.. After six (6) visits within a two week period to fix a malfunctioning relay, it is still not fixed and after their last visit our A/C now is not working. We are worse off that we were before they came out. Waited all day for them to come back for yet a seventh (7th) visit and repair what they broke only to learn that the tech went home early and were not coming and would be out tomorrow.. Well, just received a call from who I presume is the owner who informed me to call someone else... That's how they do business... This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. They came to my house to replace the control panel on my hood fan. The guy came in and asked me how to fix it. He was drunk and reeked of tobacco. He said he'd order the part and the office would call me, and made me pay the $85 service fee. That was a month ago. Every time I call, they tell me Rick had to call me, and he's on the road. I've yet to get a call back. They are a total rip off, and will have to eat the $85, because after reading the above reviews I don't want them back in the house. What's bad is I was given this places name by the manufacturer in California. an update: they called me with a price of $299 for a part plus labor. I called the company direct to see what the part cost, and it's $68.95. I also reported them to the manufacturer that gave me their name. read more

VERY expensive for a basic refrigerator repair!!! First, to be fair: serviceman came out same day; he seemed knowledgeable; he told me cost before doing work (though I had little idea initially of what kind of job this was, or how much parts should cost). The meat of the actual repair consisted of replacing a defrost heater. I priced the same part online later at about $28. The manager at the company (who was surprisingly aggressive and very defensive when I phoned him) said they billed me $135 for that same part. He blustered for a while about profits and the cost of sending out a serviceman, then said (resentfully) that he'd kick back $25 if I didn't post a negative review, even though he didn't agree with me. I said, sorry, not interested. Replacing the heater and clearing some ice cost me $350, before tax. Would NOT use this business again; their markups and pricing seem quite aggressive. read more
