These guys were great! we hired them to replace our roof and well house and they did a great job!…read moreeven after discovering additional work needed to be done they got the job done, everything fixed or replaced, and in before the rain really came back!

My experience with Combat Construction started out promising but ended up quite frustrating…read more Jesse, the owner, seemed very friendly and gave me a really reasonable bid for a new fence and short retaining wall. When they put the fence in, it looked great with the exception of one 8' section that was not even with the rest (it sat 3-4" higher than the adjacent sections with a 3-4" gap below). I asked Jesse why this had been done and ended up asking for it to be fixed, which really seemed to annoy him. There were a couple of other inconsistencies with what Jesse said he was going to do and what he actually ended up doing. For example, he had said that there would be a 9.5" grass board along the bottom of the fence, but he used a 6" one instead. He also told me that they would be applying a clear coat sealant on the fence and instead he put on a "cedar" color stain. When I asked him about the color, he also seemed to get perturbed. The fence ended up looking great, so I didn't mind that he used a stain, I just didn't understand why he specifically told me he was going to use a clear coat and then used a colored stain. I was also lucky that my neighbors, who were sharing the cost, didn't mind the changes. They then tried to install my retaining wall directly on the dirt/mud in my yard with a corrugated pipe sitting on the dirt behind it. When I told Jesse that I thought that the wall needed to be installed on a compacted rock base to be even and avoid settling and that the French drain would need to sit in rock or have a water barrier between it and the wall to function correctly, he became very upset and told me that "this job was becoming a real hassle." He argued that he had bid for a decorative retaining wall only (not what I had asked for) and that he was already losing money on my project. I found this to be really odd since he was the one that had written the bid. There was no way I was going to pay them to install the wall and French drain incorrectly, so after a heated argument, I ended up telling Jesse I would pay for the materials that they had already had delivered to my home and put the retaining wall and drain in myself. There were a couple of other sloppy workmanship issues I noticed once they had finished. They used a sprayer to apply the stain to the fence and ended up spraying onto my house siding. They didn't replace the corner posts at the back of my property, so there are still old, rotten posts holding up the new fence at the corners. They also left quite a mess when hauling away the old fence, including dropping nails in my driveway and my neighbor's. A few of the boards they installed have since warped or split, causing two so far to detach after only a little over a month. Combat Construction offers a warranty on the fence, but I have opted to fix the problems myself rather than deal with Jesse again. It was really disappointing that they were trying to cut corners on my project and that Jesse apparently felt it was unreasonable for me to question him. The crew doing the work for Jesse were really friendly and professional and the fence ended up looking fantastic for the most part. Based on the deviations between what was communicated to me and what was actually done, as well as Jesse's attitude when asked to do the work correctly, I would not hire them again or recommend them to anyone else.

Jerry came out, took a look at the problem, gave me some ideas after I explained that the ramp needed to have a long, gentle slope as eventually my pooch would be in wheels (hind legs). He talked with me at length about options, helping me understand the dilemma and how to work within the parameters of the space. He had some excellent ideas on how to proceed and came up with a solution that was great for Reggie, my dog. Reggie now has a beautiful, functional ramp and the ramp looks well with the house. Jerry even suggested putting in a new brighter, light fixture that can be rotated to highlight the ramp. I stroke of genius! The new light fixture makes it much easier for the pooches to see the end/beginning of the ramp and for me to see them at night. His work is top notch, and uses the best products available within your budget. He is very meticulous and considers all the angles of the situation, such as, no sharp edges or corners for the ramp. He is very personable, easy to talk with even when I am not sure about what to do and able to work with people like me that does not have the necessary expertise. I trust Jerry that he will do his best. I recommend him highly for any project that needs to be done. Sincerely, Violet P.S. My pooches always enjoy seeing Jerry, too!!

They helped us develop our vision for the new kitchen into a concrete set of plans, and they worked with us to keep the project within our budget. As construction progressed, they were communicative and responsive. We really appreciated the weekly meetings they held with us, where they updated us on their progress and consulted with us about any changes we needed to make to our original plan due to unforeseen quirks in our mid-century house. In the end, the work is solid and beautiful, and our new kitchen is a joy to cook and bake in. We really appreciated the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and deep knowledge of the whole G. Christianson team. We felt like we were in good hands the entire time we worked with them. Just as importantly, everyone we interacted with during the project was friendly and professional, from Carl, the owner, to Anna, the designer we worked with, to Ben and the G. Christianson crew, to all of the subcontractors they brought in, and everyone else. We wouldn't hesitate to work with G. Christianson again if we ever have more remodeling work to do, and we highly recommend them.

Phil and his guys are skilled, hardworking, professional and meticulous. I'm 66years old, have been in the trades all my life and actually built many of my own fences. Their work surpasses my skills. I was very surprised to see Phil come back through after the guys finished the fence and mark about 5 boards that he didn't like and had them replace them! Phil is just a very nice guy, honest, knowledgeable, and professional. After having several conversations with him I am encouraged that there are still honest, hardworking, family men providing excellent work, jobs, all with integrity and customer service!
