He was Very Kind & Gracious every step of the way. Pricing was fair. Ricky was flexible, and adapted to our changing wishes about the work, as it went along. He has a Keen Eye For Detail, and he's Very Conscientious. He sealed our concrete driveway and sidewalk, as well as applying a Beautifully Decorative Trim on the Driveway, and All Along our Stamped Concrete Pathways that encircle our house. But most impressive to me was his masonry work. He restored and sealed our terraced stone front yard, that had been crumbling apart for several years. He ground out the cracks and the old crumbling mortar, and replaced it with a mortar that matched our stones much better than the original. He added years of life to the steps and top platform. Plus he added new stones where we wanted them, matching them pretty well, even though our type of original stones are no longer available in our area. I've looked. I had a 70 year old retaining wall next to the sidewalk that was failing - large cracks, leaning…read moreout. A serious hazard and potential liability. Previous owners planted large shrubs next to the wall, making things worse. Most of the professionals I talked to wanted to repair this wall. Ricky Lemon said it would be a lot of work, and expensive, but he agreed with me that the wall had to go. He and his small crew tore out the wall and the shrubs, hauled off the debris, and installed French drains and a terraced block wall that looks great in about two weeks of really hard work. Mr Lemon and his crew were respectful, pleasant to interact with, always willing to explain what they were doing, considerate of me and my neighbors, and really a delight to have working on my property. The work was top notch. The crew worked hard in hot weather - and I like this about Ricky Lemon - he provided cold drinks for his crew, insisted that they take breaks, and did not work during the two hottest days (so far) in July. In the end, he added railings on both sides of the two flights of steps up to my front door. Since I am as old as that wall was, I am really grateful that he did the extra work to find good-looking, sturdy, safe railings for me. The whole thing looks great now - I need to plant some flowers in the terraces, but it is too hot for that just now. If you hire Ricky Lemon, you will get someone who is a really good worker, who produces a great result - someone who knows what he is doing and does it really, really well.

As you can see from the "before" picture of our project, it was pretty much a blank canvas at the start. We knew kind of what we wanted, but that's about it. I enjoyed working with Randy from the start. Communication is the KEY to success on projects and I commend him for his emails and texts. I knew when he was going to arrive and when there were any issues. He was so incredibly patient with us as well, as we were deciding some of the materials as the job was progressing. He and his team were consummate professionals from start to finish. The photos not posted, of the very, very wet and cold days would show the tented areas and the mud. I felt like I wanted to apologize every day. There were a couple changes I made mid-project and Randy was awesome about just making it happen - and quickly! I'm not sure I've seen someone work harder and have such talent in their craft. He knew things only decades of experience teach you. In closing, I would just say that anyone I come across that needs any type of stone or masonry work done will be getting referred to Oregon Brick. I was able to schedule a free consultation on their website the next week and had Dan come by. I am a pretty indecisive person but Dan did an amazing job taking my vision and helping it come to life. The estimate was done the same day, I felt some pressure to sign the deal that day but negotiated what I thought was fair. I was originally told a time frame 1-2 weeks earlier than what happened, which is one of the reasons why this is losing a star. Eric, the construction manager, came by with Dan a few weeks later to do an initial construction walk through and he also suggested adding another level/ stairs and helped me figure out a drain situation. I appreciated the feedback and ideas. Overall, both Dan and Eric went the extra mile and were responsive when I reached out. The week of construction, communication on when they were coming, progress, etc could have been better from the Crew itself but it is a sub-contractor.. (which is the other reason for one less star). The team worked hard in 80+ degree heat 5 days in a row, were very polite to me and the job was done quickly. Eric did a final walkthrough with me and I pointed out a couple minor flaws and they were quickly repaired the following week to my satisfaction. Overall, I recommend this company as they back up their product and have a good warranty. It is pricey, yes, but I believe this is a good investment and I have really loved spending time in my new yard. Thanks!
