I've been a loyal customer of M&M Party Rentals for many years -- I even got all my wedding rentals here. Their inventory has always been a bit old and worn down, but the staff used to make up for it with decent customer service. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. I recently rented a hot dog machine for a school event. After setting everything up and loading all the hot dogs, the machine worked for about 10 seconds and then completely stopped -- no power, no light. We tried different outlets and even moved everything to another area with working electricity, but it still wouldn't turn on. This caused a major setback during the school function, and we had to scramble to feed the kids another way. I called during the incident for help but they were closed. After the event I called again and explained what happened. They told me to bring it back and that I'd receive a full refund. I did exactly that. When I dropped it off, Mayra said she'd refund it back to my card -- no problem. A short while later, she called saying they plugged it in and it worked for them. We had a polite conversation about how strange that was, but she never mentioned canceling my refund. It's now been 6 days, and no refund has been issued. I've left messages and never received a call back. When I finally reached someone named Ana, I was told she had to "check with the owner" to see if they even wanted to give me a refund -- and that she wouldn't be back for several days. At this point, it's not even about the money -- it's about principle and professionalism. I've supported this local business for years, but it's disappointing to see how they now dodge calls and treat loyal customers. A small issue could have been resolved quickly with honesty and good service. It's truly sad to say, but I'll be taking my business elsewhere -- somewhere that values integrity over keeping a few extra dollars. I wish them well, but I hope they use the money they kept from me to finally replace that old, faulty machine. read more

We rented tables, chairs, tablecloths, and a dance floor for our event, but were very disappointed. The 12x12 dance floor they recommended was far too small for our guest count, and when we set it up, pieces were missing so it couldn't be used. One of the tablecloths was also the wrong size. When I called to request a refund for the unusable dance floor, I was told it was our fault and even that we had asked for it without all the pieces, which was both rude and unreasonable. I hope they improve quality checks, recommendations, and customer service in the future. We will not be using this company in the future. read more

We were visiting from out of town for a celebration in the area. M & M was recommended by our Air BnB host. We just needed some tables and chairs for our daughter's graduation party. Her phone "died' and I was unable to secure the reservation or even make the $1200 payment no matter how many times I called or tried to give her my money. My husband and I thought we were getting a deal with M&M to provide rentals for our wedding, and in fact all we got was disorganization, ineptitude and disrespect. Never have we paid so much for so little. The staff of M&M will forget key details, lie to your face and then blame you and tell you are "drama queens." When we tried to point out key omissions in our contracted services, M&M tried to cancel our contract three days before the wedding. Completely unprofessional and needless stress. So, upon my original entrance of this place, I was completely impressed. Their inventory is excellent, and they are much cheaper than other places around. But let's talk about customer service for a minute. Now, I work in hospitality, and have trained individuals in customer service. When I came into this store, not ONCE did the three employees that were working acknowledge my presence. Ok, I got over it. I was able to walk around, take photos for at least half an hour, and leave. My second experience, different story. I walked in, ready to spend about $2,000 for my wedding, which I guess is chump change to them. Still no acknowledgement from the employees. I walked around because I wanted to get a final count of things to rent. After perusing the store, I finally approached one of the girls and said, "I'm going to need to talk to you, I would like to book some things for my wedding". She looked irritated, but began to help me. Upon further discussion, come to find out that several main items ON THEIR PERSONAL WEBSITE are priced incorrectly! I showed her the website, and her response was. "Oh yah. She's (the owner) is working on updating the website. You need to look at our facebook." ummm ok. I need to check your FACEBOOK for accurate pricing? (I later on checked the facebook, and no prices were listed) The items I had come for were TRIPLE the price of their website. I asked if there was any way to make an exception, as the price was wrong and showed her the proof. She said she doesn't have the authority to give discounts and I would need to call back for the owner. I explained that the party place down the street has the same things for half the price, but I would prefer to rent from them as I had already done the research and liked the owner. She responded saying that "she doesn't play that game". I was shocked. I was ok with the lack of discount if the employee would have at least pretended to have sympathy for me. "Oh I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, I truly understand how frustrating that is, that you were told one price and now its triple the amount!" Thats all she would have had to say. But no. I took the day off of work, to spend thousands of dollars, only to find out that the employees here are rude and have no desire to make a sale. I walked out of the store, after my mother angrily stormed out. We have no plans to return, and will certainly advise others to stay away from here. Just a side note for Marsha the owner. This isn't a "game" as your employee stated. This is supposed to be a professional business. Your employees do NOT care if you lose business. They do NOT care that I will never be back, and that they lost you $2,000 in profit. They collect a paycheck and go home. If you want your business to succeed, I suggest you look for new employees. Because not ONE of them was even remotely helpful. I'm sure when you ask them what happened, they will have each others backs and say I was just a crazy bridezilla. Because why would they admit their poor behavior? But coming from a family of small business owners, I know the importance of good employees and how they can make or break a business. Being a caterer and personal chef, I have dealt with many rental companies over the years. My bottom line: go somewhere else if you have the choice. They charged me 350 dollars extra charges that don't add up. There selection is pretty limited, a lot of items they only have two of. Glassware came in cardboard boxes, which makes me cringe, these are boxes that aren't washed, but clean things arrive in and leave back in the same boxes dirty. Judging by the shape of the boxes they don't give your fresh ones either. Just think about that one. They seem to make up a lot as they go along, which meant 350 of extra charges that contradicted their website along with their representative who helped me with my order. They double charged their 'flat rate' shipping charge, because they would need two trucks. I understand their reasoning, but I also understand what a flat rate is. After the event they charged me an additional 150 for cleaning dishes. I was very careful before ordering to find out their exact needs on returned items. So careful, as in I asked in three different ways. Every answer came the same, just rinsed and remove food debris. So when I returned them well rinsed, absolutely no food debris, they charged me because they were greasy. Really. Of course, I brought these charges up with them and they literally stopped communicating with me, literally. I choose this company because they they're one of the few in the area who didn't need items returned clean and I was in a pop up kitchen outside and didn't have the infrastructure to properly wash. But seems like they do need to be returned clean, so that point is mute. They still get two stars because I am not heartless, even if you do stop talking to me... Their representative was kind and helpful, everything showed up and left with out a hitch, which is actually a lot to be said sometimes. We hired them for a 100- person wedding. They were helpful and polite to work with, and have a great selection. I took off two stars because most of the dinner plates we had were worn and looked old. This was very disappointing to me and to be honest, I would not have used their service if I had known. That being said, when I brought the issue to their attention, they discounted our order and told us they would get rid of the plates. They said they were unaware of the quality issue. When I called them to get a price quote on dance floors they quoted me $350, while the other company wanted $800 for the same size. They were so accommodating and made everything so easy! We called to place an order for tables, chairs, and tablecloths for an event that was only a couple weeks away. They had enough supplies to fulfill our request but could not deliver (holiday weekend) the supplies. Since it was a holiday weekend, we were able to keep the supplies for several days for the price of one. The store had a wide selection of party supplies. Tables: The 8ft tables we got were solid wood which meant they were heavy and difficult to transport/move. Chairs: The white padded chairs were dirty. Nothing too terrible but I was expecting clean/sanitized supplies. Wiping down chairs was not on my to-do list. Tablecloths: We got white 10ft tablecloths and they were more expensive to rent than the table. The price was not listed online, we only figured out the price by subtracting the known prices from the total. They were about $11 each. When we picked up the supplies, the set up was not efficient. Also, we were not given the tablecloths (we forgot about them too, but I would think they should have brought them out or realized that they had not fulfilled the entire order) and had to turn around to get them. All in all, we had a nice set up for the party, but I don't think I will be back unless it is absolutely necessary. read more

Don't do business with them!!! I used M & M Party Rentals many years ago for our wedding. Our experience with them was horrific. It sprinkled the day before the wedding and rained the day after our wedding. The white wooden rental chairs were exposed to the light sprinkle the day before our wedding. It only sprinkled 1 hour during our rehearsal. The wedding decor/rentals ect was cleaned up on Sunday am, and it rained Sunday afternoon and the chairs were stored in the garage and kept dry, and picked up by MM on Monday. While we were on our honeymoon M & M owner called us several times, (luckily we were in an area that did not have cell service) However, upon our return there was many messages stating the chairs were damaged, and the paint bubbled on all of the 150 of the chairs we rented and they were telling us we had to buy all of them to pay for the damages. Each message, getting ruder and ruder and threatening in tone!! What? We ended up battling with them over this, and hand picked the chairs we thought were damaged-to avoid legal repercussions as they were stating they would pursue . We ended up buying 69 of them. It should be noted that the chairs were not new. They were stamped with 3 other party rental company names on the underside of the seats and well used before MM had them, and they were well worn and used before we even effing rented them. We had to pay over $1500 for this. It was a total nightmare, and huge expense after we already got married. We sold a chunk of the chairs on craigs list to recoop some of the money. We kept some and still use them almost 10 years later for family functions and events. They were not damaged-or bubbled like they insisted. They dismissed the fact that they were 3x hammy down chairs from other rental company's. M&M scammed us to get more money out of us. This was extremely unprofessional of them. I would not recommend them at ALL. There are other rental company's such as Alexis, A Festive Affair, and Event Escapes that are wonderful. I see the other negative reviews for M&M and I am not surprised at all. I was unable to leave a yelp review during the time we were married, as yelp was not around. I was disappointed with Marsha Rowan the owner. She seemed money hungry in a time where she's had to close early and close some days due to less business. I rented tables and chairs on Monday. Susana told me they close early on Tuesday and closed on Wednesday so told me if I couldn't return early then call her and I would take back on Thursday. I worked late so I called and Marsha answered. She demanded that I return the tables the same day. She was rude and didn't want to honer what her employee told me. In a time where business is less, Marsha should not have been so rude or at least know how to run her own business. I will never rent tables from her again. There are so many other business that have same quality chairs and tables with better customer service. after dealing with bitches like Helga** i guess anyone with a beating heart would be considered helpful. we found this place through Heidi (our GPS) well we walked into the store and it seemed small yet PACKED with EVERYTHING from baby stuff, to wedding favors, and themed parties. we were told to look at the book in the back. they had a variety of canopies and even stuff i never thought about renting (margarita maker) for our wedding. when we were done we sat with Marsha. WOW. i mean WOOOOOOOOWWWWZERS!! she was our little wedding planner for free. she sat and went over colors and had a work sheet and wrote everything down for us, even the things that we werent going to rent from her just so we could keep track of everything. she even went over stuff that the caterer shouldve covered!! she didnt rush us even though the store was getting pretty busy. she was thorough without being pushy. her prices are pretty reasonable on rentals, and out the store stuff was SUPER cheap!! although for the service she gives you, its TOP NOTCH!!! we went from wanting to punch the last lady we dealt with at the last place to wanting to give Marsha a fat wet kiss!!! if you want to do ANY party planning or rentals in the surrounding area, come here. even if you just sit and talk to her. your time and money will be spent well here!! =) ** A to Z Rental in Seaside read more

Let's just start from the beginning, first they shorted my brothers wedding 19 water glasses For a 125 person event, when we called the "OWNER" she proceeded to inform us that we were all wrong and that " We must be stupid, if you can't count to 125". While we were counting the silverware we came across a pack of forks that had leftover food on them, when my brother's fiancé's mom told her that there was still food on some of their silverware she called her " fuckin crazy". This is the worst business I have ever had to deal with, if you're the type of person that likes to have an event with many issues than this is the business for you. I do not recommend this business for any event, especially a wedding. She had the audacity to tell us that if we tried to hide anything to make our story correct that she would charge us full price. She had no intention of refunding anything and said that she would be charging $5 per glass for every glass missing upon return, when she is the one that shorted us the glasses in the first place. I plan on reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau, after seeing all the one star reviews and so many people having the same issues that we've had, they should not be able to run a business anymore. read more

If you want your special day to go as "YOU" plan, then STAY AWAY from renting ANY supplies from M n M Party Rental! Our 120 chairs arrived FILTHY.. and I MEAN FILTHY! My Coordinator and her team had to clean them! An (employee) arrived 3 hours after the call agreeing the chairs were very dirty and we should not have had to clean them! When calling today May 18, 2016 a VERY UNCONCERNED matter-of-fact Marsha, argued the matter saying she sent her employee to clean the 120 chairs for me, but I already had it done. SO WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL! She REFUSSED to reimburse minimally 50% of ONLY THE CHAIRS...HOW PETTY! Even calling me "Baby-doll... your not getting 50% its unfair. If your coordinating an event or your spending a ton of money to do so...CONSIDER if you want MARSHA to coordinate and rent you dirty supplies. I assisted a wedding at Mt. Madonna a week ago and worked with the owner, Marsha who was so helpful and accommodating. The quality and pricing was very affordable. I had asked for the delivery to be at 9am sharp and the driver came about 15-20 minutes before 9am which was so helpful. He helped me set the tables upright and was great to work with. This team was a pleasure to work with for my wedding in May! I didn't have a wedding planner and Marsha and her team were extremely helpful in offering suggestions/recommendations. The only thing we missed was that the round tables were not the right ratio (too small) for the amount of chairs we got so we had to order an extra table and linen at the very last minute. Luckily, they were open and had one they held for us so disaster was averted. Quality of the items was all perfect - I used the rustic barn theme items such as the barn tables, cake risers, wine barrels, etc. I would definitely use them again! read more

Beware of hidden charges! After being a long-time customer of over 30 years, we will not be going back. We ordered 3 round tables and 35 chairs for a shower in late September. We added 2 tables and 5 linens to our order within 10 days of the event which was scheduled for October 16. We then attempted to cancel two of the tables and linens the next day after ordering them and were told we would be charged full price anyway for restocking fees even though they hadn't even been pulled yet. We attempted several times to contact the owner who apparently was the only one who could help us. She never called us back. We were never advised of this policy when we made the order in the phone. Additionally, there is a 25% restocking fee for items canceled more than ten days prior to pick up. The clerk we spoke to on our final attempt to contact the owner was unprofessional, sarcastic, rude and basically accused my wife of lying about our history as customers. It was a very unsettling conversation for both my wife and I. I wish the owner would have called us in order to resolve this. Alexis Party Rental is our choice from now on. read more
