I haven't had a threading since I came to Berkeley, so I needed to go to the closest salon near campus. Compared to the threading services back at home, I was met with great service and had one of the fastest services. Previous threadings took forever which made it hurt more, but the lady was fast and efficient -making the pain a bit more bearable- and produced the same results if not better! I started going to M&M's location down university and stuck with them to the new telegraph location. Super convenient for berkeley students and about the same price as other threading salons ($10 eyebrows). I will say that it's pretty hit or miss, depending on who you get. I've had times where my brows turned out fantastic, and others where they snagged some skin or cut into my skin and pretended like it didn't happen. Overall though, they do a pretty good job - I've never hated my eyebrows completely or found them to be just plain ridiculous. They've always been fine...just fine and usually not too great. read more

This place is awfully deceptive. The Yelp discount isn't valid. Apparently. They wouldn't honor it unless I were to leave them a review at that moment - which is probably the reason why this place is rated so high on yelp. The employees put you on the spot and ask for a rating so you can get a discount. Eyebrow threading itself is ok - nothing remarkable. Service is sub-par. Wouldn't return. read more

Been coming to the Berkeley MLK (and now Telegraph too) locations for years now. They do a great job on my brows and upper lip, and a great price! Works much better for my skin/hair than waxing. Sometimes the Telegraph location has shorter hours during university breaks so double check before--and that location has free 1 hour parking in the lot behind!! read more

Never going to this place again! Went to go get a wax and they used some cheap wax. The wax didn't even stick to the paper and it cracked on my skin. She had to use multiple paper to get it off and finally peeled it. Very disgusting and it hurt like hell. I came home with a red patch, which was pretty usual after a wax. But a few days later, it turned dark. Now I have dark armpits. But my friend told me she usually gets her brows done here, so I decided to give it another try and get my brows threaded here. Worst decision of my life. She basically threaded half the width of my brows off. I now have a string brow. DON'T EVER COME HERE TO GET ANYTHING DONE!!! read more

Got my brows threaded for the first time ever in my life and it was amazing. I always tend to pluck myself or get them waxed but my friend highly recommended I try threading so I did. Reema did my brows and she was so nice and made my experience go so well. She's extremely detail-oriented and made sure that my needs were met and that my entire brow area was clean. My first visit wasn't terrible, but I definitely don't think I got the five-star experience that most people get, which might mostly be due to the fact that Reema wasn't there when I went. I came by during regular business hours on a weekday. The lighted "Open" sign was on, but when I tried to go in, the door was locked. Weird. So I called the phone number, and there was no answer. There was an answer when I called a second time ten minutes later, during which I asked if they were open and had to tell her that the door was locked. When I was able to go in, Reema wasn't there as far as I could tell, and it was a younger woman that helped me. The actual threading that she did wasn't unpleasant, but I didn't get a brow/eye massage nor any advice about shaping/growing my brows that many others have mentioned. I also had some stray hairs that were missed, so I ended up plucking them at home. It was only $10, but I don't think I'd be back unless Reema was available. read more

I've been a loyal customer to M&M for many years, and I always get the memberships every three months. I was so excited to hear that they opened a location by campus, which has saved me a lot time! This is, however, my first review for M&M because I'm a very busy college student and I only write reviews if I absolutely feel the need to. That being said, I feel like I need to write a review for Reema's phenomenal service! I must say that throughout all of my visits to both M&M locations, Durant and MLK, I have never had service that has been as exceptional as the one I just received from Reema. This is why I decided to write my first review for M&M. Reema is very warm and sweet, and she seems to love interacting with her customers. Plus, I was so happy to hear to that speaks Bengali because that is my native tongue and I never get to speak it with anyone. I didn't even feel the treading, which is normally a painful experience for me, but I think that's because she was so gentle and she kept me busy by making me laugh the whole time. I can tell by the conversations that I had with her that she is a genuine person who really loves to see people happy, and that is apparent from the way she treats her customers. I feel like I lucked out by meeting her on a day that she normally doesn't work, and now I will make sure to request her every time I visit! I'm so happy with the service, and I love the way my eyebrows turned out. I'm not saying this just saying this because she was such a nice person either! This is by far the best eyebrow job I have gotten in the Bay Area! The shape is just the way I like it, and she cleaned it up so nice that I don't even think I'll need to apply any makeup to them. I went in two days ago (Monday) and I wasn't nervous but I was doubtful since this would be my first time and I know they just moved here a few weeks ago and I have to say, I had great service! Reema is a sweet heart and she did SUCH a beautiful job on my brows. She didn't take off too much and she framed them VERY nicely. It was PAINLESS and very gentle! Some friends wanted to get our eyebrows threaded for the first time, so we looked for a place with a 5-star rating - the convenience of location-distance was a plus. M&M Thread Salon (2432 Durant Ave., Berkeley) entailed both! The salon has an new, refreshing, & elegant feel to it. There's a water dispenser inside beside a clean looking sofa with some magazines laid out for customers to look at while you wait. This makes the place feel more welcoming and less intimidating for some First-Timers. There's a somewhat large gap between the salon seats and the waiting area, but friends are also welcome to sit on a closer sofa by the person getting their eyebrows done, that way you're not super far from each other and can still chit-chat! --Reema, Threader-- Reema was very sweet and, after asking if we were First-Timers, was very reassuring of the work that she'd do on our eyebrows. When we asked if we could get a closer look at her threading, she waved us over to sit on the sofa by the salon seats and was more than happy to let us stand by her and observe how our friend was being threaded. Although I wasn't orginally planning to get my eyebrows done, I decided to put my name down after seeing my friend go through Reema's threading. Reema will tell you that it's supposed to be a pain-free experience, and to speak up if you feel uncomfortable. (However, for First-Timers, there will be some slight discomfort - nothing unbearable). I spoke up once about the discomfort, and she responded & reacted immediately. It was still SLIGHTLY uncomfortable (as it normally would be), but I was able to close my eyes and relax through the rest. After Reema was done with one of my eyebrows, she let me sit up to approve it, which I did, then continued on to clean and slightly shape them (as I requested!). I felt myself slightly panic when I realized she was trimming my eyebrows with scissors, but that was only because I didn't expect scissors to come into play; the final product was flawless. As I had hoped, my eyebrows still looked the same, but better. No outlandish results, just clean, dark, sleek, and on point! As First-Timers, my friends and I had a pleasant overall experience and were happy that we found Reema at M&M Salon. *Note: If you are a First-Timer that found M&M on Yelp, Reema will politely drill you for a Yelp review. I am sad to say this but I am very disappointed in this place. I have gone twice and the first time they came out amazing the second time however which was today they have left me with one eyebrow that's longer than the other. I specifically asked for a clean up and to not touch the eyebrows at all but here I am with two very different eyebrows. I have always liked sharp eyebrows and I know that's what suits me and today was the first time I have gotten round eyebrows I did not ask for them. The woman doing my brows did an amazing job and I was in and out in 10 minutes. Prices were great too. I got recommend this place by a lot of friends and decided to give it a try myself. I enjoyed my experience at M&M more than any threading experience I've ever had. I got my eyebrows done with the best Reema, who was super sweet and gentle with my eyebrows. I barely felt any pain and Reema took her time with my eyebrows in order to better shape my face. Came here for my first eyebrow threading in the Bay Area. The store is neat and nicely kept. I was greeted right away when I entered. Mrs. Randi was absolutely the best! She was quick, friendly, and.professional. I'm usually really sensitive and always leave with tear-soaked Kleenex after threadings, but my eyes barely watered! It was truly the gentlest eyebrow job I've ever gotten. She nicely shaped my bushy brow while kept them natural looking, and offers a aloe massage afterwards. The best part was that I walked with my friend to crepes a go go before coming here. When I walked past by the place afterwards, she hasn't gotten her crepe yet! It was super speedy!! read more
