Was given possibly the worst haircut in my life last week. Ended up going to another barber shop to have it fixed. Bangs were 1 inch different on one side compared to the other. I moved to Centreville almost a year ago and have been bouncing from barber to barber never really getting the haircut I want. Last weekend I walked in to M Barber for the first time with unsure expectations. I pretty much was bracing for another disappointment and preparing myself to move on to the next shop until I finally found the right barber. As soon as I walked in to the shop I was greeted by Mike immediately. It was a welcome change to the awkward waiting around. There was no mindless TV watching for an hour, no pointing to myself or the guy next to me trying to figure out who was there first, nada. Just jump and go. I gave Mike my usual spiel about what I was looking for, like I've given every other barber, and showed him a picture of what I was thinking. Mike hardly batted an eyelash and went to work right away. I could tell right off the bat he was a pro with confidence to boot. After a short time Mike was done and it was the awaited moment when he swings me around and shows me what was he did. Instead of grimacing and choking out a half hearted "yeah... looks good" I finally could say with confidence "that looks awesome." And I do look awesome. I'll be coming back time and time again. Believe the reviews. I was in town for work and wouldn't get back to my regular barber for two weeks, and I'm picky about my haircut. I was out the door in 20 minutes and they even included a lather and shave of the back of my neck. If I need a haircut anywhere near here again, I won't hesitate to come back. read more

I never thought it was possible to give a barbershop five stars because barbers all do the same thing. Well thats what I thought until a quiet guy whose station says his name was Kent gave me the most amazing shave I have ever had. I didnt know you could shave a face three times but by the time kent was done with me my face was the smoothest i have ever had. Haircut is a haircut... but definetely the shave here by the guy kent is the BEST. Overall price for hair cut and BEST shave I have ever had was 31. I gave $45 because the quality and time kent spent on me was worth it. So... get a shave by KENT. read more

I have been a "barber" since 96' in high school cutting my own hair and all of my friends and family growing up. I have always prided myself on staying up on the latest trends and have a very meticulous attention to detail when cutting my own or others hair. As I grew older I did not have the time to cut hair anymore especially my own. I went on a 2 year hiatus of "growing out" my hair very long but found that the maintenance was not for me. A couple of months ago I decided to go back to my weekly "fades & shape ups" and was very pleased with the look but was having a tough time keeping up from week to week. That's when a friend of mine recommended Mike from M Barbershop in the Sully Plaza. The shop is a no frills type of barbershop but the quality of their cuts is where the shop's true value is. At first I was very hesitant but Mike is a professional and made me feel very comfortable once I took a seat. I asked for a difficult style that is not for the novice barber. The "slick back disconnect undercut with a gradual low drop fade, shape up, and hard part. This a style that is very trendy and commonly asked for in the most famous of barbershop worldwide. Mike's conversation and friendliness put me at ease as he worked his craft. He had a very steady hand, with his eyes focused as he gauges where the fade should gradually fall to the shape of one's head. His thinning shears worked through the top section of my wavy thick hair combing and styling as he cuts as if I were at one of those high profile salons in the area. Alas he was done and I was turned around in the chair to my delight.. FINALLY a barber who's vision fits his customer's. So please go see Mike if you are looking for a quality professional barber. It was the biggest mistake to give this place a chance. I needed a quick haircut and something very simple. I only needed the top to be cut. The sides were already short and I don't want them cut. I told the barber about what I want but she couldn't seem to understand. After repeating myself for so many times, she asks me "How short do you want the sides?". At this point I got out of the chair to leave but the other barber kept asking me to stay and that they will do what I want. I ended up on the chair again and I can feel that the barber is intentionally being rough while working. She did an "Okay" job with my haircut. Now its about midnight and I cannot sleep because my back neck burns a lot. She apparently hurt my back neck really bad when she was using the blade. I've never had my neck cut so bad from barber before. And if she did that on purpose that's even worse. I really regret tipping her. Will never ever go back. read more

Mike is the the absolute best! I have been going to Mike for about three years now and couldn't imagine a better experience. Prior to moving in to the northern Fairfax area, I had patronized my previous barber for 17 years and was very picky about who cut my hair. However the drive to my previous barber shop became burdensome, so I rolled the dice on a place near my new residence. Thank god when I walked in that Mike cut my hair. I just got haircut about an hour ago by a barber with a watch at this barbershop. Possibly he was blind or deaf, I asked for a 5 on top and 4 on the sides. He gave me a 3 all around; he also didn't square anywhere where I asked except for the back. Every other customer seemed to be satisfied and I'm guessing I might have been the only one faking a good attitude. I'm disappointed beyond belief. I will never again, without a doubt, come to this barbershop. read more

I wanted to just find a barber before the weekend. Usually go to African American style barbershop but I'm not prejudice so when I saw this wasn't that I still went in for a cut. I'm sure they do ok work on other ethnicities but..... There's no words for what was done to my "fade" and as far as a line up. It was basically just cut so low you couldn't see it.
