I have driven by this place on every trip to Wallowa Lake and failed to stop. My mistake! My wife and I stopped in yesterday for lunch and a couple of beers after committing to a visit. Before we get to food, let's discuss the history in this more than century-old building. It's a restaurant/mini general store/hardware store/radio station! Take a minute to browse the building while you're enjoying a beer and waiting on your food. Five beers on tap yesterday and all solid. The entree food is enticing, but the pizza is the deal! Finest NY style pizza I've had in Oregon. You will eat the crust as that is what makes the pie! Buy some swag and tell your friends about this great place in a community of 300; but don't show up after church lets out on Sunday. The whole town is there! read more

A must stop in the Pacific Northwest. The pizza and dry cider are some of the best ever. The picked eggs are outstanding. Come warm up in Winter or fuel up before you hit the Eagle Cap. Cool spot in Listine. Place has a lot of different stuff. They have a restaurant, they make their own beer and wine. They have a little market. It's a unique spot for sure. We got the Norton pizza. Took a while but it was good. Their IPA that they make is tasty. Also had the sausage which was good. read more

Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Brewery Tour Stop #9, and first Oregon Stop in route to our last Idaho Stop! This was a detour, as we opted to drive from BOI to GEG, for the spectators views. We really didn't know what to expect or if it would even be a brewery. OMG, what a treat! For a place with do few people, they must all come here! We arrived about an hour before a fundraising event for kids. Silent auction desserts, how fun is that? They were tapped out of 1 of the 3 offerings on their own brew. We got one of each of the remaining 2 & the special "hot potato" pizza, which left us with food for the road. Everyone was very personal & service was great. It's such a unique and quirky spot with solid, tho limited beer & mighty fine pizza! No regrets on re-routing. read more

This is one of our absolute favorite stops when visiting the county! Great vibes, wonderful staff, and delicious food and drink! Their pizzas are out of this world, we love the seasonal morel pizza the most but your really cannot go wrong with any of them. The cabbage and rice salad is also wonderful. Just the absolutely coolest store. It's a food store - complete with wine and beer, and a decent selection of both - as well as a restaurant and clothing shop. It's one of those gems that you can't believe you're getting to enjoy. There is a really nice outdoor seating area with grass, trees, and sun cover. Sorry, no dogs. M. Crow is - as another review pointed out - one of those stores you would drive 7 hours to visit! read more

My boyfriend and I feel very lucky to have stumbled into this brewery. The beer was excellent, as well as the speciality pizza we ordered. As someone from the land of great pizza (New Jersey), this was easily the best pizza I've had in the PNW. The staff was attentive and genuinely happy to talk! They even recognized my college sweatshirt from Philadelphia, where they have one of their production sites. Would recommend coming here even if it's out of your way. read more

I've been coming through Lostine for 30 years, since I was a kid, to go backpacking. It is wonderful to see someone invest and take passion in this small community. This place could be the set of a Wes Anderson movie. It is clearly more than a business and truly someone's passion. I asked around and heard an artist set up the space, which makes sense because thought has been put into all the details. Even if you aren't hungry, just stop to check it out. I've been in lots of great old retail spaces and they have done something special here. Also, the smash burger I had was great! Check out the DJ booth in the back! I knew nothing about M. Crow, Tyler Hays or the tiny town of Lostine until something caught my eye as we were driving through on our way to Joseph. Something about the sign made me think it might be cool so we pulled over in the sweltering heat and decided to take a look. What a mind blowing experience. We were absolutely fascinated by the entire concept. The front of this business is a very charming old country store (which is what I was expecting...at best) but there is also a very cool wood fired oven, with an eclectic selection of pizzas (morel mushroom) and an old school dining area which in itself was a surprising find. Add to that the beer they brew (combined with very cool hand drawn posters) and a very cool fire place and you start to wonder what this place is doing in a town of less than 300 people. The mind blowing part however is in the rooms beyond the restaurant. The next room down has a radio station that is set up for live music and is lined with record albums. In the next rooms there are ceramics, paintings, hand made denim pants and hand made leather hiking boots. Most of these have price tags that say "NY price" and "Lostine price." The Lostine price is significantly cheaper. And keep in mind, these things aren't cheap. The pants are at least $200. The pizza, beer and groceries are actually very reasonably priced...it's just the artwork that was pricy. This place was mind blowing. It is clearly a legitimate store front with a real restaurant but it gives the impression that the entire business is part of an artistic display. The contrast of merchandise to the town itself is mind blowing. I kept saying "how the fuck does this place stay open?" Once we got home I looked this place up and learned more about the owner. He is a local guy who moved to NY and made it big...really, really big. Do yourself a favor and google Tyler Hays or BDDW Furniture. The entire story is fascinating. He's got studios in SoHo, Milan and Philadelphia. I'm guessing at this point in his life he has enough money to do whatever the fuck he wants, and it appears he wants to make things from scratch (the clay for the ceramics is dug locally, the hops for his beer is from a friends farm) and bring jobs back to rural Oregon. As best I can tell, he decided to save this hundred year old store that was about to close--he kept the name, made the business hyper cool and then created a line of artwork/products around the name (M. Crow) which he sells worldwide. In fact, it appears that those "Lostine prices" are actually a real bargain. I'm a huge fan. The store is cooler than anything in Joseph. It's probably cooler than anything in Portland. It feels like a baseball diamond in the middle of an Iowa corn field. It doesn't belong but we're damn lucky that its there. read more

I ordered a pizza, Pepsi, and beer with my wife. The beer was fine but it took 50 minutes for them to serve the pizza and, as you can see in the picture, it was badly burned. They didn't apologize or suggest they could make another pizza, so I assume this is their style. I picked off as much burnt cheese from one slice as I could and gave it a chance because I was so hungry after the 50 minute wait. As you can imagine, it was awful. The underlying ingredients were fine -- decent pepperoni, crust was fine -- but burning the hell out of it just isn't to my taste. read more

Pizza's have been great every time we've went. They had a period when pizza wasn't an option. That forced us to try the smash burgers. Definitely didn't disappoint. Seasoned perfectly and delicious. You can't go wrong with both the pizzas and burgers. read more

The food is excellent and the vibe in unmatched on either side of the Cascades. One of the few places in the county that manages to cater to us locals as well as tourists and travelers. My only wish is that they did even more live music! Love their radio show as well. The decor is a mix between art gallery, cowboy poet bar, and the remote cabin of an rich eccentric mountain man. The employees are also kind and hard working. They were super busy yesterday but one of the employees went out of his way to premake frozen pizzas for our surprise party happening the next day. I mean what a place! The second my wife and I walked in we were greeted with friendly faces, cool design, and tasty beer. The manager gave us a little private tour being that we are both in the design world and explained a little about the history of the building. I cant recommend this place enough if you're looking for a place that's a bit different and off the beaten path. Thanks guys read more
