They ask for your phone number and email address right away even though you may have just a simple question. However, after that weird interaction, everything else was very pleasant. People get back to you right away and answer all your questions. Rocco is very helpful on site. The place is immaculate, even the driveway into the ranch. Lodging was great, beautiful scenery, staffing at the ranch was good. Horseback ride was the worst I've ever experienced, Including the guides getting lost multiple times, poor communication between the guides, no guide was appointed as the leader, total lack of instruction before starting the ride, no helmets offered for the teenagers on the ride. A member of our party got injured when their horse went down, and they did not appear to have any emergency procedures in place, and they didn't even have any type of a first aid kit with them on the ride. In addition, part of our group had to ride back in the dark to the ranch and the guides appeared to be lost once again. The entire process was unprofessional and not safe. First the good: Beautiful location, clean, well maintained grounds, plenty of hiking, biking, moto trails. Easy access for large RVs, dump station on site, plus a couple shower houses. The bad: AVOID their horseback rides, especially with children. Safety does not seem to be a high priority at all and a child in our group was bitten by one of their horses while saddling up. We later learned that this particular horse is one of a few 'known problem horses' that they still choose to use in group rides. After the incident the staff didn't offer any first-aid assistance (not even an ice pack) but instead 'generously' offered to walk the child back to camp and waive the cancellation fee for his individual ride since he was in too much pain to continue. read more

Arrived here to drop off my sister who is going to work as a wrangler for the summer. It is a really cute place in the middle of beautiful scenery. I was prepared for the worst but the ranch is actually quite nice. We stayed in a very comfortable cabin named The Gambler that has one full bed and a set of bunk beds. There is a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a jar full of cookies! We share a bathroom with one other cabin which isn't a big deal. The bathroom is pretty nice. There is a hot tub right outside our room but it is way too cold here right now for us to venture out. Later in the summer I imagine it will be quite nice. Our family of four took a two hour trail ride with M Lazy C Ranch last Saturday. What an absolutely fantastic ranch, with an incredible family as hosts! Ron, Jake and Sarah were amazing guides on our trail ride. The horses were wonderful to ride, each with their own unique personalities! My horse for the ride was their mule Jim. We had a great visit this summer. The ranch is beautiful with a large meadow, surrounded by forest. We went horseback riding twice and had Dave the wrangler as our guide. He did a great job, was very informative and kept us laughing. We loved the owner Kelly! She and her husband are hard working people and keep the ranch moving forward. We stayed in an RV spot and enjoyed the views. We attended the chuckwagon dinner and had a delicious meal, prepared by chef Charlene and enjoyed the square dancing, Levi the cowboy singer and s'mores by the campfire. There are so many facets of this ranch that I was unable to experience, so I cannot rate anything that I did not participate in. That being said, this review is for a private party of 4 sleigh ride in January, on a random Friday afternoon. Customer Service: 5 stars I emailed "Ann", who was super sweet, about reservations for our group the day before concerning a sleigh ride. She promptly emailed me back all the info I requested & a price list of what they had to offer. When we arrived, "Ann" greeted us & took care of the waiver & fees. She led us to a family room where we could wait until the sleigh was ready & escorted my mom to the ladies room. The Sleigh Ride: 4 stars Ok, I seriously want to give this part of our excursion 5 stars but due to the length of the trip, I cannot justify 5 stars. We literally went several hundred yards!!! Then, got off at a dining hall & had some really delicious cocoa(Swiss Miss with Peppermint Mocha creamer) & sweet treats (not homemade). Next, we branded a tree ornament made from wood while sitting around a campfire. This was very neat to me because you actually got to bring home a souviner. We were supposed to go back to the starting point after this, but my husband wanted to see the RV sites, which were another few hundred yards from the dining hall. The wrangler was very, very kind & personable & took us around the loop. Then, it was over! If it were not for that extra loop, we would have completed this little excursion in less than 1 hour. Did I mention for $140?? The ambiance, scenary, & cleanliness of the grounds, restrooms, etc: 5 stars I would do this excursion again, but in season, like in December when the rates were probably less expensive. read more

Vacation with the fam!! I was looking last minute for something fun to do and we came across M Lazy C Ranch we called the day before to see if they can take 7 people for the next day and we're pleasantly surprised when they were available and made time for us!!! The drive up was beautiful and once we got there it was even better then expected! Matt was our guide and he was very friendly and had good conversation the whole time! Also the owner and Larry came a long as well both were great as well told us about the horses and the mountains!!! We took the 2 hour wrangler ride it was beautiful and so much fun with the family would defiantly come back next time we're in town!!!!! Attended a wedding at this venue. I stayed in the Foreman cabin. The bed wasnt very sturdy but otherwise the cabin was well appointed and quite clean. There was a microwave and a mini fridge but the bathroom was shared and outdoors. Most of the staff was very friendly and accommodating with one significant exception; every meal was tightly controlled and not generously delivered. My belief was that this was to be sure everyone ate within the meal budget however it came across as stingy. Other than that I very much enjoyed transforming the dining hall into a wedding chapel and while I am primarily an indoor kitty I still managed to enjoy some of the lovely nature views offered on this down home ranch. read more

After searching several places online for our summer vacation we had finally set our minds on this place. I called to inquire about tent camping in conjunction with their 4 to 6 day packages. The lady who spoke with me was very helpful and said they had availability but would have to call Me back for prices for the tent camping prices. After several hours of not receiving a return call I called back and spoke with a young lady that told me she was too busy to help and would call me back. I asked if they would call me back later the same day and she said she wasn't sure. So I then decided to send an email to try and get some answers. After sending my email I finally got a response that said, after looking at our schedule we have decided we can't help you. Good luck and safe travels. This has been a horrible experience and we haven't set foot on the place. I hope that this is an isolated event. The good news is that we found a place that was more than willing to accommodate us and the service was much better. read more

This a terrific family owned RV/Camping site, especially if you like horses and hiking. The 2 hour trail ride took you through some beautiful terrain with awesome views of the Lost Wilderness area. This place is really cute. The little town vibe is adorable. It is nice to see the horses. I didn't love that in the middle of the pandemic we didn't see the staff wearing any masks. I'm sure that is a pro for some people but it just made me feel like the staff doesn't respect that their customers may not share their beliefs and may be uncomfortable with them not wearing masks. If your customer is wearing a mask, put on a mask. If they aren't then you are probably fine to not. They did however encourage social distancing and only 2 people in the office at a time which was greatly appreciated. The site we had was unlevel and it was making me dizzy since I have inner ear issues, altitude probably contributed too, so we did end up leaving early. We did not ask for a refund so that isn't contributing here. I didn't mind letting them keep the money for the day we didn't use the site since it wasn't their fault. Everything else was great. If we'd had more leveling blocks we probably wouldn't have left early. read more

We took a horseback ride here. The scenery they take you on, forest and meadows is very nice. Compared with other similar businesses, their prices are very reasonable also. You ride in a single line in a predetermined order, i.e. you can't pass or change pace. That's probably better given the terrain. The only minor drawback is that their wranglers are temporary workers, and may have a varying degree of familiarity/control with (some of) the horses. read more

My family used this site as the host site for our family reunion, and we were all unimpressed with our experience. The group stayed in various cabins and most complained about the quality of the beds and pillows, causing discomfort throughout the day. We stayed in mid-July, so the weather was potentially the hottest of the year, and yet there were no fans in the rooms or fans provided to help cool the cabins. The group was also disappointed by the food. The provided breakfast as well as the add-on Chuck wagon dinner were less than satisfying, with questionable breakfast meats, overly-tough steaks, and fruit straight from the can. When members of our party arrived at 8:15 for the 8 am breakfast, the staff turned him away because he was too late. One member of our party texted the hosts for assistance and the question was not answered until after we had all checked out, driven home, and unpacked. The staff was overall, somewhat dismissive, and not flexible in assisting our group. We would not recommend this site for other similar events. read more

My husband and I took our 2 elementary school age boys to M Lazy C Ranch this summer. We spent 1 night there in early August - I wish we had planned on staying longer! This place is truly a hidden treasure. This family run ranch is charming! The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our cabin was clean and quaint - perfect for our stay. My boys enjoyed the lasso practice - and chasing the chickens and petting the miniature goats! We went on a horseback ride during our stay and Sara was a great guide. The food portions are extremely generous, and delicious (though my only comment would be to offer 1 "kid-friendly" option for extremely picky eaters). My husband and I were thrilled with our stay - it was a highlight of our week-long trek through Colorado. M Lazy C is a family friendly place - and very down-to-earth. This is not one of those "fancy, fake" dude ranches - this is a perfect little retreat from the hustle and bustle, on gorgeous sprawling property, with lovely owners. read more

We searched all over the state of Colorado for our weekend wedding venue. When we visited the M Lazy C Ranch, we knew without a doubt that we had found the perfect place for our style of wedding! "It was right out of a fairy-tale" "Truly the best wedding I've ever been to." "HOW did you find this amazing place?!" "The best family event we have ever participated in." "One of the best weekends ever." Were just a few of the comments we have been getting. It was a dream wedding, we were able to make our entire weekend into exactly what we wanted thanks to the flexibility and full support of the ranch. This included having almost 90 people stay at the ranch (in cabins, bunkhouses, and camping) 130 people eating at each of the weekend meals, and over 160 at our Wedding Dinner and Reception. We did a horse demonstration using the large outdoor arena on Friday, and the bride was able to canter across the meadow up to the ceremony on her own horse. The guests loved the fact that they could book horse rides with the ranch and go out for fun trail rides. The ranch meals are hearty, the cabins have an amazing rustic charm, the ranch is surrounded by national forest so it feels like your own little piece of paradise! The Heck family is an absolute joy! The work, the dedication, and the love that they put into making our wedding weekend happen, is something we will never forget. For anyone looking to camp with their horses - this is the place! With a mini trail course, round pen, pens at each RV site, a huge outdoor arena, AND access to national forest trails right from the ranch, you will find yourself going back again and again! We stayed at M Lazy C 9/16-9/18 in the Settler cabin. The morning after we got home we began to discover welt like bites. Long story short it was bed bug bites. My husband and I were covered in these miserable bites. The exterminator that came to check our apartment for bugs said that from the severity of the bites the infestation was at least 4-5 months old. Our apartment showed no signs of bugs but will now have to be inspected every week for 2-3 months. I've tried calling M Lazy C ranch and no one calls back. They've told other people that were in our group that they've talked to me. They also told them that they've checked and there were no bugs in the cabin. I will add that the bed linens in the cabin that we stayed in were red. Our exterminator said that if the sheets had been the traditional hotel white they would have shown evidence of the problem as bed bugs leave blood spots on the sheets when they bite and are red in color. read more

I cannot say enough how wonderful this vacation was, and how hospitable and generous the family/staff were with their time and care. My son cried because he didn't want to leave his horse (Domino) that he bonded with over five days. He's only 7 yrs old, but he learned (easily with their help) to ride for hours on multiple trail rides, to shoot a bb gun, fly fishing in a world-class river and caught trout, barrel racing, gathered eggs, pet cats and rabbits, lasso, horse shoes, shot pool, ... the list of things we did were endless. We stayed five days, but would have loved to stay even longer. This is a great place to stay in their cute little western cabins, or RV, or camp. They have single day activities (ex: shooting range set up like a little ghost town, archery with life-sized fake animals with bulls eyes painted on, repelling wall, trail rides) or stay the week and have great company and great western meals in the dinning hall, topped off with a chuck wagon dinner, horse pulled hay ride with western guitar and songs, and even square dancing. We decided to pick this as our last camping trip of the season and could not have been happier. The staff is so sweet, helpful and wonderful. What started as 2 families in our group going up with our campers turned into 5 families in 2 RV's, 1 tent and 2 cabins rented. The bathrooms and amenities are spotless. We camped there in a travel trailer with five other families in our group, Family Campers and RVers (FCRV). M Lazy C is family owned and run, and it shows. Those staff we dealt with were responsive, friendly, and customer oriented. Price was consistent with any commercial camp site, but with add-ons that you simply won't find at a "KOA". We were in a water/electric site and had no issues with either. Site was slightly off level, but it was rough, wooded terrain - no problems with that. It is utterly dark at night, so much better for the camp fire and star gazing. We even saw the International Space Station pretty clearly. We bought the chuck wagon dinner, with music and western dancing after (they teach) - highly recommended. Suggestions: Improve the road in. One lane is damned dangerous for the amount of traffic. Add a fresh water line at the dump station for tank flush. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing! read more
