The ride was beautiful and the horses are amazing. As someone who has never ridden a horse before, I was surprised how easy and relaxing it was. The horses knew well where they were going and did all the work. Evan was an amazing wrangler and guide for the trip.

Academy Riding Stables gave us an unforgettable experience! Matthew was our tour guide and he was fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident on their horses. Speaking of the horses, they were the perfect temperament: calm, gentle, and clearly very well cared for. The ride itself was absolutely stunning. Thanks to the fresh snow, the whole landscape looked magical, especially Garden of the Gods covered in a beautiful blanket of white. It was definitely chilly, but we were so grateful they didn't make us cancel--getting to see everything in fresh powder made the experience even more special. If you're looking for a scenic, peaceful, and well-run riding experience, this is the place. We'll be talking about this ride for a long time!

We had a group of 7 ranging from 8 years to 50. The staff was professional, the horses were gorgeous and wonderful and the views stunning. Our guide, Jayden, was knowledgeable of the area and the horses and very helpful!

My husband and I had a fabulous 2 hour ride in Beth & Wilson through the Garden of the Gods! The scenery, the horses, the entire experience was fantastic!

Shout out to our guide Danny! We really enjoyed our ride. We had Tot and Mooshoo, the horses. =) Be prepared to be sore if you've never ridden before 10/10

Absolutely amazing experience, you can tell they take really great care of the stables. Matthew was a great guide, very funny and sweet. He even made sure to get pictures of our group for us. We only did the 1-hour so we're definitely going to go back to do the 2-hour next time!

A beautiful experience! The horses are well-behaved and well taken care of. The scenery is jaw dropping, and horseback is the most perfect way to view it. Matthew was a great guide, very personable and shared some really interesting facts about the park. We will be back!

Other than another hour on horseback, do you see any more sights for the two hour ride?

Yes, the two hour is on another ride of the park. Similar but different views.

Humans eventually discovered these giant stone slabs and named the location Garden of the Gods. The gods themselves left no forwarding address, but they clearly possessed a flair for dramatic architecture. In 1909, the family of a railroad executive named Charles Elliott Perkins deeded four hundred and eighty acres of this land to the City of Colorado Springs. They attached a single mandatory condition: the park must remain forever free to all people of the earth. In a world where people routinely attempt to place turnstiles around ordinary scenery, this legal clause remains a magnificent anomaly. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1971. Inside the main park, paved paths such as the Perkins Central Garden Trail allow our fragile bodies to walk among giant monoliths without tripping over tree roots. Famous formations with names like Balanced Rock and the Kissing Camels sit silently against the backdrop of Pikes Peak. You can hike, ride a bicycle, scale the sandstone with ropes, or simply stand on the asphalt staring upward with your mouth slightly open. The entire landscape manages to remain accessible without feeling like a commercial theme park. The rocks are the main attraction, and they do not require artificial lighting, recorded sound effects, or ticket booths to command respect. If you spend a day in Colorado Springs, you will likely spend the rest of your life comparing every other rock formation on Earth to these red stones. Most of them will disappoint you.

I wish I could give this attraction a higher rating, but our experience was negatively impacted by…read moretiming and crowd levels. Due to scheduling constraints, we were unable to visit Garden of the Gods until mid-afternoon. Based on other reviews, this appears to be one of the busiest times to visit, and that was certainly our experience. The roadways and walkways were extremely crowded, with people frequently crossing roads and climbing on the rock formations. Parking was also completely full, making it difficult to stop and explore. As a result, we ended up driving through the park without getting out of our vehicle and were unable to fully enjoy the experience. I would recommend visiting early in the morning or closer to closing time to avoid the crowds. A midsummer Sunday afternoon is likely not the best time to experience this beautiful destination.

I'm relying on them to keep my son safe. I enjoyed Big Horn. Luckily this is a location (mother in law lives close by) that I frequent so we will definitely be back. We opted for the s'mores before the ride. Great thought but terrible decision. This should be after the ride. Both my son and I had a terrible stomach ache during most of our ride. Only outhouses available. We powered through because there were 2 other people in our group and we won't be party poopers (pun intended.) If I remember correctly, this is inside a park. Budget 30 extra minutes (+ the 30 min early check in) because the line to pay to get into the park can be really long. Hopefully the horse ride and the front check in people are able to talk soon so reservations are allowed to enter for free with your service receipt. Overall, besides the tummy ache, we had a great time.

However I wish our guides (Skylar and Stella?) would have been more informative and interactive. We informed them we are beginner riders, 4 out of the 6 of us had never been on a horse and the other two had only been on a horse once many many years ago. I wish they would have told us (before the ride, not as it's happening) what might happen on the ride and how to handle it or how to calm a horse if it gets a little antsy. Over all I would recommend this place, perhaps maybe just ask a million questions before they have you get on and take off.

As an experienced rider, I was looking for a trail ride that would not be the stereotypical nose-to-tail walking trail ride that is so commonly offered, and this trail ride did not disappoint! We were able to ride in a pack, side-by-side each other. We rode from the ranch, out through a pasture, and up a hillside to the top of the butte. On the butte, they let us experienced riders do more than walk on our horses. Amy, Josh, and Josh were so warm and welcoming and shared some history about the area. Fantastic tour guides, and amazing humans. My friend and I were visiting Colorado for about a week, and Amy gave us some recommendations of additional things to do/see while we were in the area, as well. Next time I make it back to Colorado, I would absolutely go back and visit Platte Ranch again. Not only was the ride amazing, and the scenery too, but our trail guides were the very best. I mistakenly assumed that the gift certificate would be good for at least the next year, but it turns out it was limited to nine months. Nowhere on my receipt did it have an expiration date, and I was never told of one. It was in very small print on the attachment to the gift certificate. I was told there was no exceptions to be made even if I was flexible on our available dates.
