It was a great experience! We rode the 6 seater side by side. I took my 3 year old and 7 year old and they loved it! Lonnie, our tour guide was very considerate and adjusted his speed. Absolutely LOVED our tour!! We used a side by side and it was fantastic. Our guide, Melissa, had such a great personality. We HIGHLY recommend her and this tour. The machines were in great condition. The scenery along the trails was exceptional and she made sure to give us beautiful areas for rests and photos. The tour matched our level of comfort in driving the UTV as well. Had a great time with our guide! Wish we had sprung for the full day tour. The tour was fun. You can't go over 20 miles/hour because of safety, but it was still fun. Make sure you wear clothes to get dirty and wet to get most of your experience. Definitely have a bandana or mask so you aren't breathing in dirt. Room for a backpack for snacks and lots of water!! Helps to be prepared. Recommend close toed shoes, but there isn't any hiking. Your feet might get wet. I wish there was more water to go through, but we were here in August, so that may have impacted it. Staff was great. We really enjoyed them. Also - no cell reception. So be prepared for where you go when your finished. read more

My first piece of advice...go anywhere else and do anything else. The owner "Dave" was unable to clearly give directions to the location and GPS sends you in the wrong direction. Ultimately, my girlfriend had to call him because we were so lost and he literally started yelling at her. The directions are no more difficult that 1.5 miles past Pike's Peak Highway stop light... Once we got there, it was constant apologies about getting frustrated...blah, blah, blah. We had the owner take us to a trailhead where there was still melting snow and a lot of water on the trail. Unfortunately, the rear brakes on my girlfriends machine worked VERY POORLY and worked even worse once they got wet. She was unable to stop and ultimately rolled the ATV on top of her. When the owner came back, we discussed what had happened. He simply said the brakes were fine (they weren't, I tested with all the manly strength I could muster on the foot and left rear brakes) and that we would have to repair the bent rack on the front of the ATV. He went on to explain that the elements probably compromised the brakes, but this WAS NOT discussed at ANY time in our extensive briefing (Dave is a licensed Safety Instructor). Eventually, we agreed to disagree and I received a call the next day to cover the approximate $300 of damage he was claiming. I explained that the brakes played a significant role in the crash. He invited me to drive 100 miles to his shop so I could see for myself that they worked, but I already did that when I was down there. In a nutshell, my girlfriend was injured because of lack of maintenance of their equipment. Even better, I found a previous review where the exact same thing had happened to someone else. I would advise against using this business. Ultimately, someone is really going to get very hurt if this gentleman continues to run his business in the same manner. read more

A terrible place!!!! Me and my buddies rented out the ATV's for a half-day ride and were not returned the $650 deposit for a few scratches on the quads. The left brake was not working on all of the quads and the owner also scammed us for some other damages which were already there when we rented them out!!!!! He was also acting very rude and started cursing at us after we politely disagreed with his claims. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

Rockhound ATV was some-what disapointing. Leading up the trip, communication with them was bit difficult as they were not reliable/quick in replying to emails or answering phone calls, but everything did eventually work out with the reservation. Additonally, when I did speak with them on the phone, they were very aggressive/mean about my questions, they implied that I was rediculous to be asking about riding longer than 4hrs and i quote: "now you listen to me, I'll ride your assess off, dont worry about that". I didn't really know how to respond to their gruff/aggresive tone over the phone, but I was still willing to go with the reservation. Then came the day of the rides. Overall, we had a great time, but this was almost "in-spite" of Rockhound. The best parts of the day riding were the views and terrian, riding in Pike's Nat'l forest is breath-taking! With regards to our guide, he was VERY VERY slow and when we asked about riding faster on the straight/flat sections, he yelled at us "no going over 20mph!". We didnt ask about riding more aggressively after that, but it was almost painful to be stuck riding behind our guide. All of us knew what we were doing, and within 1hr he should have been able to sense our comfort-levels and ability, and allowed us to ride faster. I felt like we were on a calm sight-seeing trip, not a fun/thrilling ATV ride. Now, I understand that Rockhound could have incentive to make us go slow the entire time, as the machines could be broken or we could get hurt. But here is why that its a not a good arguement, upon arrival, we had to sign waiver forms stating any injuries we sustained would not be Rockhound's fault. Additonally, we had to give them a $650 (!!!) deposit for any possible damage to the ATVs. This is what really upsets me, i signed a form saying I would have to pay for parts and labor to any damage i created, and i would have to take responsibility for any injuries i sustained...so...I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO RIDE HOWEVER I WANT! The most upsetting part of the whole thing was how mis-leading it was. Leading up the trip, the owner, ATV Dave was telling me over the phone "dont worry about it, we will ride your assess off", when i called with the original plan to rent the ATVs for 8hrs, with no guide and ride on our own...so i listened to him, and changed our plans to the 4hr guided-tour, and then when we go there, they made us ride slow, they scolded us for "sling-shotting" to try and make it fun and just overall didnt live up the promise of a fun/thrilling ride. I wish I hadn't listend to them and just stuck with my instinct on renting the ATVs to ride on our own. Even if you arent familiar with the area, if you got a map and went to Pike's Natl forest on your own, you'd have a lot lot more fun. read more

Rockhound ATV near Manitou Springs was outstanding. Very professional with an emphasis on safety. We did the half day and it did not disappoint. We are a family of 4 with an 18 and 15 year old. If i could give them 0 stars i would. My whole family decided to rent atvs on our family vacation. They didn't state that we only needed an $650 deposit. Instead they made us prepay for the whole thing. Even though they knew we had a child that gets motion sickness and we wanted to play it by year. Still made us prepay. Fast forward to the day of the atvs. My daughter made a scene. She didn't want to wear her helmet at all. She screamed and cried. Finally i told my husband to take the car seat out and we weren't going on the ride. Dave was the instructor and told my husband he will help us get our money back. During the ride my husband and other child was stranded because the atv quit working. My husband fixed it. The next day someone called my husbands phone said they weren't able to refund a portion of our money because there was a delay in the beginning of the ride. I was trying not to waste over 200. But when my husband stated he was broke down for a bit. The response was "you were in a safe area". Since July i have called them to speak to a supervisor numerous times and sent a few emails. I haven't gotten a call back! They have horrible customer service and would never recommend this company to anyone. read more
