I'm genuinely disappointed writing this because I came to this salon through family referrals and was very excited -- but also very nervous -- for my first professional color appointment. This is actually the exact reason it took me so long to even decide to color my hair in the first place. I was worried about ending up with something too highlighted, too chunky, or not natural-looking. I trusted this salon because my family members go there, and because the stylist reassured me multiple times that she fully understood the soft "expensive brunette" look I was trying to achieve and could absolutely do it. I spent a long time explaining and showing inspiration photos for a very specific look: soft, blended "expensive brunette" dimension with subtle low-contrast color and soft layered shaping. The photos I showed were rich dimensional brunettes -- not chunky, stripy, or heavily highlighted. Unfortunately, the final result looked much brighter, chunkier, and less blended than what I had requested, and the haircut also did not reflect the layered V/U-shaped look I asked for. Because this was my first professional color service, I relied heavily on the stylist's guidance regarding timing and expectations. Before the service even began, I specifically expressed concern about whether there was enough time to fully achieve the look I wanted, and I even offered to come back another day entirely so the stylist would have more time to work with me and not feel rushed. I was repeatedly reassured that there was "plenty of time" and told not to worry. Since I had never had a dimensional color service before, I trusted that assessment. Unfortunately, the appointment ended up running extremely late anyway, the salon was closing by the end, and I never really had a proper opportunity to sit down and fully evaluate the final result before leaving. However, once I did get home and properly see my hair, I knew immediately that it was not what I had asked for. I actually contacted the salon shortly after the appointment because I knew almost immediately it wasn't what I wanted, but shortly afterward I experienced serious health-related circumstances and was unable to return within the normal correction timeframe. Months later, once I was finally able to address my hair again, I called hoping to work something out. What disappointed me most was how dismissive and defensive the response immediately felt. Before I could even fully explain the situation, it became clear there was no willingness to work collaboratively or even discuss possible solutions -- despite the fact that I fully acknowledged the time that had passed, explained the serious health-related circumstances that delayed my return, and specifically offered to pay again if needed. If you are specifically a brunette looking for very soft, blended, low-contrast dimensional color, I would strongly recommend making sure the stylist you book with truly specializes in that aesthetic. At the very least, I believe clients spending this amount of money should feel there is some willingness to work with them respectfully when the final result clearly does not align with the inspiration photos provided. read more

She listens to want I am looking for and works with me to make my hair dreams come true. She truly loves her career and it definitely shows in her amazing work that she does! Another Yelper, who is new to the area, recently messaged me about hair salons. I remembered that I forgot about my terrible experience here back in the late fall. I came in here in December for a 4 PM appointment. I was new to the area, so I didn't care who I saw. I called AHEAD and the salon scheduled me with a particular stylist. I watched another stylist sit on the couch next to me and diddle with her phone while I waited for the stylist to finish up her previous client. At around 4:30, I asked the woman at the desk if it would be much longer (since it was already 30 mins late). She was rude and ripped my head off for asking, like I had such NERVE to inquire about my late appointment. Not sure what her name is, but she was older and MAY have had a Downstate NY or NJ accent. A little politeness in this instance would have made this situation more palatable. So the woman finally takes me (45 minutes late) and cuts my hair. She starts asking me about politics and the recent election. At this point I am already agitated from that the appointment being so late, so I don't have the patience to hear it. Let's just say I'm not a member of the spray-tan party. ;-) However, I didn't bring this up. So, at this point I'm putting on a fake smile and trying to be polite when I'm paying for this expensive service, that was significantly delayed. I get home and realize my hair had some uneven pieces, so I trim it up on my own. Perhaps this was just the perfect storm of bad circumstances, but I feel like my experience here was a waste of $45 and my time. read more

The absolute best salon with the absolute best people. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with warmth "hey how are you doing? welcome!" There's always fresh coffee and snacks to grab before your service. I've been using dawn for years now and each time I go and see her she sits down with me and asks me exactly what I want today. Dawn is meticulous with her work and is the most amazing highlight expert I have ever been to, my hair never looks better after leaving her chair. Anna the salon owner literally knows every one of her clients by names and makes it a point to walk around and say hello to everybody, ask about your family and tells you how grateful she is that you're there today. The staff have all been with Anna at M salon forever, Each one of them is polite, warm, and eager to make the vision of your hair or nails a reality through their art. I saw Carla for a first-time haircut at that salon. I have thick, somewhat complicated hair to cut. I can get ringlets if I work at it, but I can also have big fluff. I have been told my hair is hard to cut by stylists and I have had many bad haircuts. I have done well with Deva cuts but they are super expensive. Carla knows curls! She cut my hair dry, following my curl pattern, then washed and conditioned with "curl-safe" Deva products. Then she fine-tuned it when wet. It came out perfect! I'm beyond happy. Next day I got THREE compliments from strangers on how good my curls looked. I highly recommend Carla. She is my new stylist. read more

I had my haircut at this facility once earlier this year and the experience was amazing. The hair stylist, Latiesha, gave me a fantastic haircut. I called to schedule again, but was told she no longer worked at this facility and had actually moved out of state. I scheduled with Dawn instead. Unfortunately, I missed the beginning of my first appointment as I had calendared it incorrectly and so we rescheduled for a few days later. They were very understanding of my mistake and quickly got me in later that week. When I arrived for the appointment, I provided a drawing of what I wanted (just like I had the time before) and told her to give me the same hair cut- just two inches shorter. I left with wet hair and wore it up the next few days until I styled it over the weekend. After styling, it became apparent this was a TERRIBLE haircut. There are uneven angles, uneven layers, more angles and layers on one side, and so on. The back of my hair doesn't look as requested either. I am very disappointed as this is right before the holidays. The photos below do not capture how terrible the cut is, but you can get the sense of how uneven it is. The stylist was very nice and seemed to take her time so I don't know how it could've come out looking like this. Now I will have to spend more money to find another place to fix this awful situation and probably not until after the holiday weekend. read more

I went to M Salon the other day and was very impressed. My stylist Tanya had been doing my hair and my childrens hair for years. I followed her To M Salon. Tanya does such a wonderful job and Im always happy when I leave. M Salon is very clean, spacious and up to date on all the looks and products. The decor is modern. My fiancé is very new to this country and I needed to find a salon for our wedding. What a pleasure to work with truly lovely people, from the appointment setters/ front desk to our colorist Dawn who was so patient with my fiancé on choosing her wedding color. The Salon is clean and busy on Friday mornings with the older comb out and set crowd but I hear Wednesday and Thursday night the clientele is younger and the coffee changes to wine. Just so you know this review is only based on my experience with Aruna. I mean the reception staff is always pleasant and courteous but I've only been there to get my eyebrows threaded. Aruna really is always awesome. She uses the new kind of wax so it doesn't need the cloth, you simply apply and pull off. And then to make it look really clean she uses thread. I have never had my eyebrows look so good. She can give them an arch I didn't know I could get. The price is a little higher but I believe you get what you pay for so with a little at home maintenance I can make them last almost two months. My advice give, Aruna at M Salon a try. read more

I chose Eli from Msalon based on these reviews. He has cut and colored my hair twice now and I was pleased both times. However, I am now searching for a new stylist based on the following. Eli stands at the desk while you check out obviously awaiting his tip. I was paying for not only his services which was $84, nail services $22 and products that were around $50. I was trying to calculate his tip at 15% in my mind and handed the clerk $15 for him $5 for nail tech and still fishing for a few extra dollars in my purse for him. There was a line behind me so I was trying to hurry . He looked at the bills twice before sticking them in his pocket. It was apparent he wasn't happy and I was embarrassed. I just didn't have any extra cash with me. So now I may choose another stylist and visit only when he is off or just search a different salon. read more

I recently moved to the area I was in need of a new hair dresser. I have very strong Asian hair that has been through so much that everyone is always in disbelief when I tell them how many times I have bleached it and dyed it. I decided to go the cheap route and bought semi-permanent burgundy hair dye and ended up regretting this decision as the color started fading into this ugly grayish green color after one week. When I called the salon and explained my situation, I was so happy to hear that they would be able to book an appointment for me the next day! When I came in, I was greeted very nicely and Carla took care of me. As requested, she used color stripper to try and get rid of that ugly mess that I left. The parts of my hair that had been previously bleached ended up turning green (as expected from these types of dyes)! She tried a second time with no improvement so we decided that unless I wanted green hair (which I have had in the past), that we would need to cancel out the color. She gave me a nice trim and I am back to my natural hair color, with some depth since some of my balayage is surprisingly still visible! I was very happy with the service and everyone there was so nice. I will definitely be going back to slowly transform my hair back to the old ash blonde balayage I had before. read more

I found about this Salon in the net, when i was looking out for some options other than Hair Cuttery. Went there to give a try. I called them up, took an appointment (preferred) and went in. At first I was shocked, the place was so crowded and 95% of the crowd was elderly. Infact I got a doubt whether the place was reserved for seniors!! :) But then, I was welcome by the receptionist and assigned a person immediatly (as I went with appointment). The service was simple great. Have been there a few times now and every time I have recieved constant and good service. Recommend this place for a hair cut. They do have a lot of other serivces (its a complete salon and spa place). Only downside i see is that it is a little expensive compared to Hair Cuttery. read more

I was welcomed with a smile and very friendly greeting at the front desk, which in a typical nail salon is unheard of. Carol was my technician as she was equally warm and friendly. Carol was not only knowledgeable about her place of business but the products she was applying! I had previous issues with the application of the gelish polish at another salon and Carol explained why I was having those problems and also took the time to explain why I would not have those issues with the product used by M Salon & Spa. I was a client with Andrea for many years. I had to cancel a few times due to work and my credit card being hacked, twice. I called when my vacation was coming up and there would be no issues with work.(and my card seemed good to go) They put me on hold a few times. Unusual. I thought are they going to fire me? Then thought better of it. But that's what they did. A third woman got on the phone and said Andrea had asked that I not be welcomed back due to the many (3 or 4) cancellations pretty close together, I realize that. My luck was tough around this time. I really wish they had not handled it as though I were a criminal. I felt and feel so ashamed over this and be banished like I had not been a long time client. I would recommend Andrea.
