I came in to exchange a pie I bought the day before because I thought it was a little doughy. Turns out that wasn't the case, it's just the way the pie was supposed to be and was something I wasn't familiar with. The manager Christian assured me it was in no way an issue and was happy to exchange my pie and even threw in a free whoopie pie for my troubles. Christian offered amazing customer service unlike anything I've experienced and was an absolute pleasure to talk to. I look forward to returning to this establishment. read more

A great little market and deli that we discovered while visiting friends in nearby Wyoming RI. A large assortment of sandwiches are available with the grinder being great, however my favorite item is the egg salad as good as it gets. The freshly baked pies are very good and I usually purchase one to take to our friend. Many homemade deli items and salads, something for everyone. It's a small deli with limited grocery items. They have a table of baked goods including Whoopi's pies. They sell their own soupy- which you can only get at certain places. They make grinders - made to order. I stopped in for prosciutto they did not carry it. The other meats were not overpriced. I did get some of the seafood salad it was good, I would buy it again. I was with another person who they provided the deli order to but when I was waited on they hand walked it to the counter and told me when I was ready to check out to let the cashier know it was mine - weird -considering it was a $3 value I had nothing in my hands as opposed to the other I was with $20+ with multiple items in hand. This was my first trip to camp yawgoog (RI) with the Boy Scouts. We were looking for some food to grill; While shopping in the obvious local stop and shop, someone referred us to Ma and Pa's Country Store for some steak and I am SO happy that they did. When we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome by Christian and other staff. We placed an order for 17 ribeyes, Christian cut each piece to our specifications (1inch thick), like a work of art. He asked if we would like the fat trimmed or left on, he educated (not lectured) us on the cut, marbleization, etc. We had a great conversation that covered many topics. Back at the camp site, each troop member seasoned there steak to their liking (I used Himalayan salt and black pepper). We grilled it on an open camp fire; we had, arguably the BEST steak ever. We all raved about the dinner (mostly about the steak). Christian and the staff were super friendly, the store is clean with a good selection of groceries. LAST DAY OF CAMP: The food and service was so good, I stopped back this morning and order another 14 ribeyes to take home to my family of 5 (we will vacuum seal some for later in the week). Of course I had another great experience today. Please patronize this local family owned store for superb food and great customer service! See you next year! read more

Love this super cute store! It's a lovely small store with all the country charm. I was extremely excited to see the fresh baked pies! They have plenty of flavors but they ran out of fruits of the forest. They had such great customer service and said I could order one made fresh the very next day! I took them up on this offer and ordered that pie. It was delicious!! I also ordered a sandwich from the deli made any way you wanted. I was super impressed with the meat selection as it was all so fresh and well kept. They offer all different packages of meat and packed any way you please. They workers were all so helpful and very welcoming. They took the time, even when they were packed busy to explain ordering and any questions I had. read more

I ordered my daughters 10th B-Day cake from Ma & Pa's this past weekend and it was THE BEST CAKE I have ever ordered!!! :-). I asked if they could make my daughters Fav. Which is red velvet with cream cheese frosting and they were happy to do it! They even drew on a 4 wheeler which was adorable. The cake was super moist and the frosting was perfect, creamy and sweet but not "to" sweet. Everyone LOCED this cake! Yummmm eat Local!!! I purchased a small turkey sub with the works on it. Fresh sub roll it was on with quality meat and cheese. For a small totally worth the money and very filling. I ate it all before remembering to take a photo so sorry for that. I did get their homemade Whoopi Pie and let me tell you so fresh and good. Very friendly staff and helpful. The prices are obviously a tiny bit higher than your typical Stop and Shop but the quality and taste it better. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. It is nothing against the items they sell or the owners but their choice of staff is awful! Every time I have ever gone in there I was treated with a sigh because they actually had to get up do work. I worked in a similar setting in another Rhode Island town and my boss would have fired me if I ever created customers the way they do. Maybe that is why my old job makes out better then this joint does. Customer service can definitely make or brake a business and it certainly brakes this one! read more

We stopped by here after camping nearby in Connecticut, and really enjoyed the sausage and Pepper grinder, as well as the Whoopie pie and Rhode Island coffee milk. Pretty reasonable prices for the homemade stuff, though the brand-name stuff is more expensive. Wish there had been somewhere to sit, but wasn't about to let that stop me from enjoying my food. Will definitely have to come back for a large pie (which are only $15 and look amazing)! read more

This is an ok little store. I mainly stop in here for pies. The dutch apple is good but I prefer a crunchier topping. The strawberry rhubarb is also good. I liked the Italian grinder but not the corned beef. I got a sandwich that had so much gristle that it was barely edible as it could not be chewed. I've never had that happen anywhere and get the impression the kids working there are inexperienced. There was only one person there who could answer any questions on what was in the side salads. I did not like the potato salad. I will continue to stop in for pies but will go across the street to Wests for sandwiches. read more

Went to pick up my order, the staff was very prompt; asked for name on order, brought it out and collected $, bringing back change all within a very reasonable time. Lived in hopevalley for 13 years (my whole life so far) and ma and pa's is definetly a place to stop at. Considering that there's not a lot of places to eat, I really look forward to getting a sandwich every time I stop there. However, I do sometimes notice that the employees there seem miserable half of the time. Also, one thing that bothers me is how much lettuce is put on a sandwich. A good majority of my time eating my italian sub is used picking off the pound of lettuce. Would be great if there was meat to match the quantity of lettuce.
