There's a giant variety of them, so the one you want may not always be in stock, but I can get a 6 oz container of cayenne pepper powder for $5, which I find way cheaper than the big name grocery stores. Prices are similar to what you would see from gas station convenient stores (i.e. not cheap). Staff seem pretty friendly. If you live 5 miles east or west of here, though, you'll find a larger selection for cheaper cost at the big name grocery stores (other than the spices, that is).

Four items were out of stock, and the shopper texted us with substitutions which we could approve or not. The website states, "We offer convenient delivery options and pickup in as little as 2 hours when you order either on our app or stopandshop.com. Get groceries on your schedule by letting our professionally trained associates do the heavy lifting. Leave something behind? No problem, you can continue to add items to your cart after checkout up until the day before your delivery or 2 hours before your pickup time." A pickup day/time is selected. Pickup was efficient. The order --many paper bags-- was placed in the SUV at the appointed time by a friendly worker. This Stop and Shop market is super sized which is great for a resort area near beaches and the coast. There are many departments including a bakery and large deli. There is a large produce area. Also, the market is part of a large NE chain, so not only are prices competitive, they are the same at all locations. There is no price gouging. There is a weekly flyer with items in all departments on sale each week. We have a frequent shopper card, so we receive the sale prices. They have a gas price reduction system based on points earned, if interested.

Their selection of prepared foods, including vegetarian friendly ones, is massive, and I often get a bunch on "lazy weeks" and they are such a big help with meal planning. Their fresh desserts and breads are amazing, I always get their mini bagels. I shopped the last hour of the day on a weekday most recently to avoid the usual crowds since the aisles can get tight, but almost everything was gone except cinnamon Raisin bagels (for obviously reasons lol). I was sad to see the selection so low, but I guess these are hot items and sell out earlier in the day?? I had no idea but will plan around this next time. They have a lot of interesting dairy free and vegan options in the dairy section that I don't see elsewhere, or that I saw at Belmont years before I saw in other places - they are ahead of the times! Some items here will run you $1-$2 more than they would in another grocery store though, so in the future I think I will stick to specialty items I can only find here, and will drag myself to another grocery store for my basics, because the upcharge here is a little nuts. A frozen bag of broccoli florets was at least twice if not triple the price it would be at another store, and it was a basic brand I'd never even heard of. I do love their natural self care section and what I'll call the "items perfect for gifting" section as soon as you walk through the door - I always have to smell the local lavender. There are a ton of unique sections and offerings here that make the upcharge on other items kindaaaaa worth it (if I don't think about it for too long). Where certain places are is at least as important as what's in them. Galilee Groceries and Deli is just a typical, small local market. Lots of them are still around in small New England towns and most have a certain charm and appeal. I actually love checking out the little markets when I go some place new. This particular store has the usually very strong coffee and various sandwiches and junk food. Nothing out of the ordinary but stuff to wake you up and fill you up. Occasionally they will be out of some things, especially if you happen to visit when the Block Island Ferry is about to leave or just came in. The market is only a two minute walk from the ferry so people come here to load up and during the summer the hordes of people can empty out the store pretty fast. The Great Island boat ramp is located practically across the street so the market is a convenient place to load up on supplies when going yaking or boating out of the harbor. A couple of small tables are located inside the store and some chairs are also outside on the beautiful porch. During quiet times local people and fisherman can be found drinking coffee or just shooting the breeze. Always someone to talk to and great stories and ocean views can be found on that porch. A pleasant little place to just relax and enjoy the sea or to get some strong coffee, sandwiches or some junk food before heading off on an adventure to Block Island or the open water.

I found that you could get many of the staple items at nearby competitors for nearly half the price. I thought they offered unique products in the meals to go section for a reasonable price point. I would recommend the mini snackle boxes and raw pressed juices. Those could actually be useful for a nearby beach trip and I liked that they use glass jars. The woman running the cafe section of the store was very hospitable, but as other Yelpers have mentioned some of the other store associates were less than enthused. I kind of get it though, Newport's upper echelon isn't the easiest clientele to interact with so I would probably get a little stoic over time as well.
